00:00Russia has unleashed its latest weapon. The one big thing that Putin and his Kremlin cronies

00:06believe can turn the tide in Ukraine and finally put momentum back in Russia's favor. It's something

00:12that Ukraine never expected, something that nobody has ever seen before. To the Kremlin,

00:18this weapon is a war-ender. It is a bag of bones. Wait, what? It's true, Russia has grown so

00:26desperate in Ukraine that it's turning to anything it can think of to turn the tide.

00:31Witchcraft is the latest trick, as Putin continues his metamorphosis into Adolf Hitler

00:36by looking to cult magic to come to Russia's salvation. But there's something more insidious

00:42at play here. We'll tell you what later, but for now, let's cover those bones.

00:46Putin, ever obsessed with his own twisted versions of history, is going to turn toward Russia's

00:51medieval past and send the remains of Grand Prince Dmitry Donskoy to the front lines.

00:57The move comes as Putin faces mounting pressure, both externally and domestically,

01:02to end his insane invasion of Ukraine after four and a half years of fighting.

01:07Russia's leader seems to believe that the musty old bones of a prince long gone

01:11are somehow going to serve as a pick-me-up for soldiers on the front, who are becoming casualties

01:16at a rate of well over 1,000 and often closer to 1,500 per day. But before we go

01:22on with the

01:40Ukraine war is to mobilize an old bag of bones and send it charging into battle. Those bones are

01:46supposed to provide a spiritual boost directly from the Russian president responsible for sending

01:51soldiers who needs that boost directly to hell. Putin's decision comes on the back of a performative

01:58visit to Moscow's Arkhangelsk Cathedral on August 20th, which came just two days after Donskoy was

02:03unearthed at the very building. Russia's leader made a big song and dance about his supposed

02:08spiritual affiliation with the church as he solemnly held a candle and formed the symbol

02:13of the cross on himself as he took part in a prayer service dedicated to Russia's victorious army.

02:19We're supposed to believe that Putin believes in God and follows a path other than the one that he

02:23sets for himself. Putin is more than happy to support this myth, as he's often told stories of

02:28being secretly baptized as a child, which is a convenient way to explain why there are no records of his

02:34baptism and even said back in 2025 that I believe in God and God is with us when asked if

02:40the Ukraine

02:41war was coming to an end. That's an odd response to a question about the war and the insidiousness of

02:46all this that we've mentioned is the reason Putin gave for it. During his visit, Putin held a meeting

02:51with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russ regarding the discovery of Donskoy's relics and what they could

02:56mean for the future of the war. It seems to be this conversation that has sparked the grand plan to

03:01send the

03:02moldy old bones of the Russian prince to the front. As he emerged from his performative prayers,

03:07Putin told onlookers, I spoke with his holiness yesterday and you know about his plans. Please

03:13convey my best wishes to him. We're going to guess that his plans were actually Putin's plans.

03:19Portions of the relics are going to be sent to various churches that are part of the Russian

03:23Orthodox Church. The rest, according to the times, are heading straight to the front. It's clear that the

03:28discovery of Donskoy's remains means something to plenty of Russians. Russian media mogul and Kremlin

03:34lackey, Konstantin Malafyev, perfectly conveyed the narrative that Putin wants to create around

03:39these bones in a telegram post following their discovery, stating,

03:42A real miracle took place in the Arkhangelsk Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin. In the course of

03:47anti-emergency works, the relics of the Holy Prince Dmitry Donskoy were found. Research has already

03:53confirmed the authenticity of the remains of the great Russian warrior and ruler. There is no doubt that this

03:58event is a direct blessing of God to Russia and the Russian army. A direct blessing to the Russian

04:03army. Somehow, we doubt that. But to understand why Donskoy is being sold that way to the public and

04:09why Putin wants to send him to Ukraine, we need to know a little more about the man himself.

04:14The supposed miracle that has been unearthed is the bones of a man who is venerated within Russian

04:19military ranks. Dmitry Donskoy lived between October 1350 and May 1389, and he served as the

04:26Prince of Moscow for 30 years, as well as the Grand Prince of Vladimir for 27 years. He is revered

04:32in

04:32Russia for being among the first of the Russian princes to stand up to the invading Mongol hordes,

04:37having won a victory over the Golden Horde during the 1380 Battle of Kulikovo. Putin and his ilk love

04:44that part of the myth. They also tend to ignore the fact that Donskoy didn't stand up to the Mongols

04:49for too long, and the handful of victories he achieved were overshadowed by the Mongol leader

04:53Tokhtamish, who overthrew both Mamai and Moscow between 1381 and 1382, restoring Mongol rule to

05:00Russian land and essentially reversing everything that Donskoy achieved. Still, Donskoy has revered in

05:05some parts of Russia for standing up to the Mongols in the first place, which is why the discovery of

05:10his remains is being treated as such a big deal. Everybody in Putin's circle is selling it that

05:15way, at least. Even ahead of Putin's visit to view the relics, his aide, Vladimir Medinsky said,

05:20and the discovery of his relics today was unexpected, almost magical. It's also symbolic.

05:26A narrative was being formed before archaeologists even had a proper chance to study the bones.

05:31Now, Donskoy goes to war once more, centuries after he could have been useful. He serves as the

05:37latest prop that Putin will use to try to justify his invasion. He seems a fitting choice. A man who

05:42won a handful of victories before losing it all soon after seems like the perfect reflection of

05:47Putin's campaign against Ukraine. Still, the question has to be asked, why the hell does Putin

05:52believe that sending bones to Ukraine will make a difference? There's some real black magic hoodoo

05:58going on here. Putin is hoping that the arrival of Donskoy will serve as some kind of mystical morale

06:03booster for the Russian soldiers who are dying in droves inside Ukraine every day. Putin seems to

06:08believe that one look at these bones will be enough to revitalize the spirits of those who see them,

06:13causing them to somehow fight harder. Or at least to make more than the pitiful amount of progress

06:18they've made in 2026, which is a year that has seen Russia actively lose territory in several months.

06:24This is witchcraft used as a weapon of war. But the one thing that we can say for certain is

06:29that

06:29Russians do need the morale boost that Putin seeks. They need it badly. Donskoy is going to be heading

06:35to the front at a time when the mood in Russia itself is sour, and the soldiers on the front

06:39are

06:40faring worse than they have at any other point during the invasion. As rumors of a mass mobilization

06:45pick up steam in Russia, Donskoy is apparently the first to get the call. There are thousands of

06:50Russians who don't want to follow in his dusty footsteps. According to an August 28th Politico report,

06:56over 113,000 Russians left their country during the week leading up to the report. All passed through

07:03the Upper Lars Checkpoint into Georgia to escape ever more aggressive Kremlin recruitment efforts.

07:08Those people, many of them military-aged men, have likely heard of the various laws the Kremlin has

07:13been passing to make mobilization easier, such as the March law that makes electronic military summons

07:19mandatory for conscription. They may also know that Russia's National Guard has been training its

07:24personnel in preparation for immobilization. People are getting out while they still can.

07:29And those who remain seem to have no hope for the future. In an August 20th report,

07:35TVP World adds that morale in Russia has sunk to a post-Soviet low as the economic toll of Putin's

07:41war

07:41starts to weigh heavily on his people. A poll by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center found that

07:4766% of Russians believe that difficult times are ahead for their country. The last time that

07:53percentage was recorded was in a 1991 poll where a similar number of people had the same thing to say

07:58as they tried to survive a period of hyperinflation caused by the collapse of the Soviet Union.

08:04What this means is that domestically Putin is ruining the collective spirit of his own people.

08:08Those who stay have no hope for the future, and those who run are trying to get away from

08:12whatever Putin decides to deliver next. Of course, it's no better on the front. The Ukrainian

08:17partisan group Artesh reports that alcohol abuse and violence now run rampant through the Russian

08:22army throughout the Russian army, as soldiers face the stark realization that most of them

08:27are only in Ukraine to go on suicidal charges into Ukrainian territory, often with no armor and

08:33limited equipment. So Russia definitely has a sweeping morale problem. So sweeping that even

08:38Putin recognizes it, and his big solution is to send the bones of a prince long gone,

08:43to somehow inspire people who are dealing with economic catastrophe at home, or lethal drones that

08:49Donskoy couldn't have imagined in his wildest dreams inside Ukraine. We think that Ukraine's

08:54foreign minister Andriy Sibiya sums it up best with a post on X that is absolutely dripping in sarcasm.

09:00Unlikely to help end the war, but if Putin took his place, that just might, Sibiya said after hearing

09:06the news that Donskoy's remains are heading to Ukraine. We couldn't have said it better ourselves.

09:10However, the black magic morale boost isn't the only reason that Russia's long-dead prince is heading to

09:15Ukraine. There's the little matter of that more insidious reason we mentioned a couple of times

09:20to consider. You see, what this move really represents is the weaponization of religion to

09:25Putin's own ends, as he falls deeper into his dictatorial ambitions. But before we explore what

09:31that means, this is a reminder that you're watching the military show. If you haven't subscribed yet,

09:40himself with his latest move, especially given the comparisons to Hitler he has already been

09:44receiving. Russia's leader has often claimed that the reason Russia invaded Ukraine has something

09:49to do with eliminating Nazism in the country. Yet it is Putin who now spends most of his days

09:54hiding out in bunkers, according to a report in The Independent. That was Hitler's favorite pastime

09:59in the weeks before he put a bullet into his own brain, as the Allies were taking Berlin at the

10:04end of

10:04World War II. Now, Putin seems to be looking toward the same magical forces that Hitler thought would win

10:09him the war. Putin hasn't gone quite as far as Hitler and his cronies yet. The Nazis actually codified

10:16their own witchcraft to the point where they launched a top-secret project in 1935 that involved

10:21undercover operatives who went to 260 locations across Germany to research witchcraft, in a move

10:27that seems to have been influenced as much by Heinrich Himmler as it was by Hitler. Still, relying on the

10:32occult to support war was nothing new to the Nazis. It was crazy then. And now, Putin seems to be

10:38walking down that same dark path to crazy town. But though we mock, there is something even darker

10:43than black magic going on with the decision to send Donskoi's remains to Ukraine. If you know

10:48anything about Putin, you may be able to guess what that might be. For Russia's leader, this is all about

10:54controlling the narrative. To do that, Putin has spent a lot of time turning Russia's Orthodox

10:59Church into a weapon of political warfare that he can wield to serve his own will. That's the more

11:04insidious aspect of this crazy move. And that insidiousness runs deep. One of Putin's dirtiest

11:11tactics in his war against Ukraine has been to ingratiate himself with Russia's Orthodox Church.

11:15Not because he's a Christian. No man who can cause the deaths of so many could ever claim himself to

11:21be such. No, Putin sees that church as yet another tool he can wield to get his way. We've seen

11:27this on

11:27the front lines long before the news of Donskoi being sent in battle broke. As the Times points out,

11:32military priests serve alongside Russian troops in Ukraine. Of course, that's nothing new, but for

11:37Putin, those priests aren't there to bring peace to troops during their most difficult times. They

11:42are heavily involved in the propaganda arm of the war effort, as their blessings are used by Putin to

11:47provide some sort of holy justification for his invasion. Priests bless tanks and weapons, they

11:53operate field chapels and they collect funds during services that are spent on equipment sent to

11:58soldiers. The Times points out that the unveiling of Donskoi's relics is especially important to

12:03Russian Orthodox Christians, as venerating relics like bone fragments is a key part of that particular

12:09branch of Christianity, to the point where displays of these relics regularly attract tens of thousands

12:14of people inside Russia. For Putin, this veneration is not something that he shares. He is incapable of

12:20worshipping anybody other than himself. However, Putin sees opportunity in the Russian Orthodox Church,

12:25a means through which he can control narratives and entire groups of people.

12:29So for much of his reign as Russia's president, he has invested a tremendous amount of effort to

12:34get in good with the church, so that he can use it to his own ends. The Foreign Policy Research

12:40Institute points that out in an October 2025 piece, where it says that Russia's Orthodox Church has become

12:46a central pillar of the Kremlin's political and informational warfare strategy, which shapes narratives by

12:52fusing spirituality with nationalism. The infusion of Putinism in the church runs so deep that higher

12:58ups in the Russian church work directly alongside state-owned broadcasters to pump messages of war on

13:05television and via social media into the eyes and ears of the Russian population. What Putin has done

13:11is cloak his disinformation in a shroud of religious authority. The Institute points out that Putin set the

13:17stage for all of this back in 2009. That's when Kirill became the patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church

13:23and it's also when that church recast its ideology around the idea of the Russian world, which fuses

13:30religion with the ideas of empire and patriotism, both values that resonate with Putin. At no point

13:36during the invasion have the Russian Orthodox Church's views contradicted those of Putin. There have been no

13:42calls for peace and no words said against Putin and the sacrifices that he has forced Russia to endure

13:47for his ambition. Quite the opposite, in fact. The Russian Orthodox Church now speaks of spiritual resistance to

13:54globalism and it served as a vehicle through which Putin can spread his influence, not just in Russia, but in

14:00parts of

14:00Ukraine and even as far as Africa. In fact, as the East African points out, Russia's church has been working

14:06to expand its footprint

14:08throughout Africa. And despite the church's denials, it's likely serving as a funnel that sends African

14:13people to Russia as soldiers. When cast under this light, Putin's decision to send fragments of Donskoy makes

14:20more sense. In a way, the magic that Putin hopes this old prince's remains will create is somewhat real.

14:26For those in the Russian military who have been raised as Orthodox Christians, there may well be some value,

14:31at least spiritually, in the move. Likely not enough to make those soldiers feel better about their inevitable

14:36deaths or to make them more competent in the fight against Ukraine, but Putin at least gets to serve up

14:42a

14:42distraction before the buzzing of drones snaps those soldiers right back to reality.

14:46But what we're ultimately seeing is the Kremlin using religion as a weapon in its invasion. A twisting of the

14:52Gospels

14:52to serve Putin rather than God. That's why Putin goes through the motions whenever religious holidays occur.

14:58It's a performance that serves the power play. A man who sees himself as God pretending to worship another

15:04so that he can manipulate more people into dying for his cause. And when you combine this with Putin's

15:09crackdowns and the Kremlin's purposeful limiting of access to objective media and information,

15:14you get a potent combination that goes part of the way to explaining why Russians aren't rising up

15:19against Putin for the pain that he's causing. For Ukraine, the arrival of an old Russian prince's

15:24remains means little. A bag of bones isn't going to stop the drones. However, Ukraine does have

15:29to be wary about Putin's use of the Russian Orthodox Church to serve his narrative.

15:32We mention that church in Ukraine. As the Telegraph reports, when Putin has called for

15:38ceasefires to mark Orthodox Christian holidays, as he did back in January for Christmas,

15:43that isn't being done out of any true desire for peace. It's another move that serves Putin's story

15:48that Russians and Ukrainians are the same people. After all, Ukrainians, or at least many of them,

15:53observe the same holidays. And there are priests within the Ukrainian Orthodox Church who have

15:57remained loyal to the Russian patriarch and have actively done things like support turncoats operating in

16:02Ukraine and provide occupying soldiers with lists of people who are likely to resist.

16:07Putin has turned Russia's Orthodox Church into a malignant force that exists to serve a narrative,

16:13rather than to serve God. The news about Donskoi's remains being sent to Ukraine is part of the

16:18spiritual spell that Putin has been trying to weave. It's a desperate move, but it's also deliberate.

16:24It's a move that perfectly aligns with how Russia's leader uses his country's main church.

16:29The bastardization of the divine into the occult as Putin tries to rely on a magic bag of bones to

16:35get

16:35what he wants. But it won't work, and the collapse of the Russian offensive in Ukraine is all the proof

16:40that Putin needs that Russia's old prince isn't going to make a difference. Unsustainable casualties,
