07:46Alex acknowledged struggling with substance use, but insisted everyone was obsessing over mistakes
07:52from the past instead of recognizing her efforts to move forward.
07:55I have been committed to changing, like I've changed my behaviors, I'm trying to work on

08:05I feel like you guys are giving me no credit for anything.
08:08As Dr. Phil continued pressing her, Alex became increasingly frustrated, ultimately remarking
08:13that she blamed herself for ever agreeing to appear on the show.

08:43Actor Eric Roberts appeared on Dr. Phil to discuss his long battle with substance use
08:47disorder and the recovery that followed.
08:49People don't come to movies to watch people age.
08:53They come to movies to watch, to get the possibility of hope.
08:57And you don't get a lot of hope from old, tired people.

09:02During the interview, Dr. Phil questioned why Roberts hadn't mentioned his famous sister

09:10The actor immediately pushed back, explaining they weren't part of his story that day and

09:17We discussed that we leave out Julia and Emma because they have lives that they didn't
09:23ask to be on the Dr. Phil show.
09:25And it's not fair to them because they weren't asked to be here, and they didn't ask to come,

09:40Part of the reason that he's doing the roles that he's very grateful for, because they're

10:06We were in a homeless shelter in Vegas.

10:18Jessica's parents turned to Dr. Phil after kicking their daughter out because of her decision
10:22to become a sugar baby.
10:23Despite being a certified nursing assistant, Jessica said she had been unhoused and was
10:28raising her child while relying on arrangements with older men to survive financially.
10:32They kicked me out in six inches of snow.

11:34she was still taking drugs multiple times a day despite being heavily pregnant.
11:38Dr. Phil arranged immediate treatment and announced she would be heading to rehab directly
11:43from the show, prompting enthusiastic applause from the audience.
11:46Like, I'm sitting here talking to him, and I'm saying yes to him, so what is the issue?

12:31In response to criticism about self-marriage, Danny says, well, why wouldn't you want to

12:39It's just some people say, why go to this level of having a ceremony?
12:46For an episode centered on Danny, a woman who had recently married herself, Dr. Phil brought
12:51in Sasha Kagan as a guest expert on self-marriage.
12:53Sasha had trailblazed the concept and married herself at 40, so she came prepared to defend the
12:58practice.
12:59Most people who marry themselves also are interested in being in relationship with other people,
13:04whether they marry them or not.
13:06So usually these are people who like really are interested in personal growth.
13:10They really want to be there for themselves and for others.
13:13But Dr. Phil soon shifted the conversation toward declining marriage rates, immigration,
13:17and the potential economic consequences of a falling birth rate.
13:20Sasha later said some of her response to that argument didn't make it to air, but she defended
13:25self-marriage as a way of honoring personal values rather than rejecting relationships.
13:30I'm not against marriage.
13:31Like, I am open to that for sure.
13:33But we're all here saying, like, we want to celebrate our lives no matter what.
13:37So I just find it weird when people get upset about it.

13:44She argued that single people can have more time to participate in their communities, contribute
13:49to society, and improve life for everyone around them.
13:52So there's many different ways to look at life and how people's lives are.

14:01But what's going on behind closed doors is not always what it looks like.
14:06Number 10, Zero Chill.
14:08Dr. Phil is a show that tackles a lot of sensitive topics.
14:11It's normal to see tensions running high on the set, but things can really get heated when
14:15someone comes on camera determined to argue.
14:17Let me please have an intelligent conversation without you two bickering back and forth.
14:24With the touchy subject of kids in the mix, Phil's guests were more interested in sniping
14:28at each other than working out their differences.
14:29And I am in the middle of what I think is a pretty intelligent and fact-based conversation
14:35with her about stopping that.
14:37And you want to interrupt me so you can engage with her.
14:40The host's exasperation is clear in his body language.
14:43However, he finally reaches his breaking point and lets loose with uncharacteristic sharpness.
14:48You know, my dad used to tell me, never pass up a good chance to shut up.
14:52Phil pretty decisively takes back the reins here.
14:55But the fact that he was frustrated enough to lose his cool even for a second qualifies
14:59this as a minor own for his combative visitors.
15:02Number 9, The Sexy Vegan.
15:04It was just a typical day on set as Dr. Phil talked to Susan about her son's troubling behavior.
15:09That is, until the son himself made an appearance.
15:12I am the beautiful vegan messiah.
15:17The man who called himself the Sexy Vegan crashed the interview to dispute his mother's
15:21version of events, leaving everyone in the studio temporarily stunned.
15:25It was when he challenged Phil directly that the host tried to regain some control of the
15:29situation.
15:30I got 9.9 out of 10 after 327 women raided me.

15:35Let's see your f***ing talent, you ugly piece of f***ing.

15:39The Sexy Vegan was obviously not interested in a dialogue, though.
15:43Eventually, it became clear that nothing constructive would come out of his chaotic appearance.

15:51However brief it was, the Sexy Vegan's cameo completely derailed the show, and left Phil
15:56looking visibly annoyed.
15:59Number 8, Casual Confessions.
16:00One of the most disturbing guests to have appeared on Dr. Phil has got to be a man named John,
16:06who was there to discuss his cannibal fantasies and violent behavior.
16:09It's an uncomfortable subject, and members of the audience seem visibly squeamish during
16:14the segment.
16:15Most unsettling is John's very casual demeanor throughout.
16:19You don't seem to be remorseful about it.
16:20You talk about it in a very matter-of-fact way.
16:22I think I'm more sociopathic than I like to admit, to be honest with you.
16:25Phil keeps plowing on through questions, trying to find an angle where he can make the topic
16:29more approachable, if that's even possible.
16:32John isn't any help, though.
16:34He remains completely unaffected, in contrast to everyone around him.
16:38It's amusing to me, and I have a very morbid sense of humor, clearly.
16:42Though Phil tries to go about business as usual, John is the one steering the mood of this moment.
16:47Number 7, A Flash of Aggression.
16:50It's not really clear why Thomas agreed to come on Dr. Phil in the first place.
16:54The habitual flasher is hostile at Phil's attempts to talk about his issue, before he reveals
16:59that he doesn't even believe Phil can help.
17:01But you've never overcome exhibitionism, so what would you know about it?
17:05The host argues back, but Thomas holds his ground.
17:08We're not sure if he was right, but his argument wasn't exactly a bad one.
17:11This is a behavior that unless you have experienced the humiliation of this behavior,
17:16you couldn't possibly know what it's like.
17:17Though a flustered Phil quickly throws to a commercial, that wasn't the end of the story.
17:21As cameras kept rolling during the break, the confrontation between the two men continued to heat up.
17:26Despite Phil's efforts to curb the tension, Thomas decided he'd had enough,
17:31leaving the doctor to admit defeat.
17:33Number 6, Nicholas Brendon.
17:35Confronting addiction and mental health is difficult for anyone,
17:39but it's much harder for someone doing so in the public eye.
17:42Nevertheless, Nicholas Brendon seemed prepared to be candid about his struggles when he appeared on Dr. Phil.
17:47It's not horrible, you know?
17:48I'm sorry?
17:49I'm tackling it. I'm not ashamed of it.

18:55When a man's mother and sister appeared on Dr. Phil with concerns about his toxic relationship,
18:59the host pointed out that the man in question seemed a little old for them to be meddling in his

19:08It wasn't long before just the thought of her was bringing up violent impulses.

19:47he brought a refreshingly direct perspective on his past troubles.

20:37Fighting in-laws was nothing new on Dr. Phil.
20:40However, Kaluud, living with a son-in-law she hated, was stretched to the end of her rope.
20:45All her frustration came out on air when Phil did not seem to be taking her seriously.
