00:07Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're looking at some of the most satisfying weapons we've
00:12unlocked across video games, whether they were mandatory or optional.
00:32But before we dive in, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and
00:37ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:41The BFG, Doom Series.
00:44In a franchise built around laying waste to your enemies, the BFG stands out as the most
00:49destructive force you could hope to wield.
00:52With a single laser blast, this massive gun can vaporize a group of enemies before your
00:57very eyes, or even knock out a boss in two shots.
01:00Ever since the 1993 original, the weapon's appearance has been something to anticipate
01:05with destructive glee, and you don't even have to do anything special to unlock it.
01:10The game usually gives it to you right before unleashing a horde of enemies for you to test
01:15it out on.
01:16Whether it's the classic or the BFC in the Dark Ages, it's the pinnacle of what Doom does
01:21best, and we'll always look forward to seeing it.
01:33Moonlight Greatsword, Dark Souls series.
01:42Depending on the build you're going for in Dark Souls, there are different items and
01:46weapons you're going to want to seek.
01:48But it's hard to argue against the legacy of the Moonlight Greatsword.
01:52By far the best weapon for an intelligence build, it scales with the stat and deals high
01:57magic damage, and you can fire a fast projectile to hit from afar.
02:02You earn it in different ways in each game.
02:04In the first, it's by cutting off the tail of the dragon Seath during his boss fight.
02:08Regardless, a sword with such power that can get around most defenses grew to be one of
02:13the most sought-after items in the series.
02:16It was an accomplishment to unlock it, and a joy to wield it.
02:20Chicago Typewriter, Resident Evil 4
02:31The Resident Evil series has a lot of unlockable weapons, and some of the coolest can be found
02:36in RE4.
02:38Known as the Chicago Sweeper in the remake, the typewriter is a tommy gun with infinite
02:43ammo.
02:43The perfect middle ground between grounded and silly for a game about killing people
02:48infested with monstrous parasites.
02:50In the original, you could buy it from the shop for a million pesetas after beating Ada's
02:55post-game campaign separate ways, meaning you had plenty of time to use it on harder playthroughs
03:01when going for other unlocks.
03:03The one-shot PRL 412 is also great, but you can only get that after beating the hardest
03:08difficulty, Professional.
03:10Plus, unloading bullets into enemies like some 1920s gangster makes this one of the
03:15most fun unlocks in the series.
03:18Spread Gun Contra series
03:20No matter where you were when you first played Contra, there was one thing that became clear
03:25pretty quickly.
03:27As enemies dropped various power-up weapons, there was one that stood above the rest, and
03:32that was the Spread Gun.
03:34It appears as early as the first stage in the original game, but something about seeing
03:39that little S with wings makes our eyes light up as we ignore everything else and dart to
03:45its location.
03:45It's a simple upgrade, but effective, giving you a gun that fires bullets in a wide spread
03:51out in front of you.
03:52In Contra, with things coming at you from all directions, the best defense truly is a good
03:58offense, and picking up the Spread Gun can immediately put you at ease.
04:12Diamond Sword
04:13Minecraft
04:14When you start a new adventure in Minecraft, there is a level of status you hope to reach,
04:20one that signals a level of stability, your ability to survive and build yourself up from
04:25nothing.
04:26Your first Diamond Sword is when it first feels like you've made it, that you're the master
04:30of your own domain.
04:32And as the second highest tier out of seven swords in the game, it obviously takes a while
04:36before you're able to craft one in a regular playthrough, since you have to go digging deep
04:41underground.
04:42It has the stats to match the cost, though, having high durability and base damage.
04:47Crafting the Diamond Sword is both satisfying in-game, and is a vital communal stepping stone.
04:54Crafting the Diamond Sword is one of the best players in the game.
04:58Screw attack, Metroid series.
05:01There are a lot of weapons that appear across the Metroid series that Samus always has to
05:06work to unlock again.
05:07But of them all, the screw attack is the one we look forward to the most.
05:11It turns Samus into a spinning ball of death as she flips through the air, which is both objectively
05:16cool and highly useful.
05:18It makes backtracking, which is obviously a big staple of this franchise, a breeze, since
05:23the screw attack can instantly kill most enemies blocking your path.
05:27Of course, that means it's always a late-game item.
05:31Still, this series can have some annoying enemies, so an item that lets us literally jump right
05:35through them is a welcome one.
05:38Ultimate Weapons Final Fantasy series.
05:40No matter what Final Fantasy game you're playing, it is always satisfying to go after the
05:45Ultimate Weapons.
05:47These exist as the most powerful weapons for individual characters to wield, which obviously
05:52makes them the most famously sought-after among players.
05:56The method of unlocking them ranges in difficulty, but they're usually memorable moments, like
06:00tensely pursuing a boss across the skies to earn Cloud's Ultima in Final Fantasy VII.
06:06Or the Zodiac Sphere in Final Fantasy XII, by far one of the mightiest, yet locked behind
06:12a cryptic rule of not opening four specific chests, which was thankfully changed in later
06:17versions.
06:18But no matter the game, Ultimate Weapons have taken on a somewhat mythic reputation, which
06:23is why every player feels so proud when they get to unlock and use one.
06:28Rhino Ratchet & Clank series.
06:31Do I even have to say it?
06:34Used to have a nice day.
06:35The Ratchet & Clank series is all about satisfying weapon unlocks.
06:39Every new area, and shop, is a chance to discover some new-fangled weapon of silly destruction.
06:45Recurring across the series, there is no weapon that has drawn more desire than the Rhino.
06:51Unlocking it is usually a long process, older games gave it a hefty price tag that meant
06:56a lot of grinding for bolts, and newer games have you collect a series of well-hidden items,
07:01like blueprints or spybots.
07:03But boy, oh boy, it is always worth it.
07:06Standing for Rip Ya a New One, the Rhino rapidly fires a barrage of homing missiles, annihilating
07:13groups of enemies and even bosses in mere moments.
07:16In Rift Apart, it instead opened a portal to drop giant objects on enemies, but its damage
07:21was just as impressive.
07:23With so much power in such a fun, wacky setting, it's no surprise it keeps coming back.
07:29Master Sword, the Legend of Zelda series.
07:42Obtaining the Master Sword is a key moment throughout the Zelda series, usually coming
07:46with appropriate fanfare.
07:48The music swells, the blade is lifted from its resting place, and Link takes on the true
07:53role of a legendary hero.
07:56It's both satisfying in a thematic sense, as well as a storytelling one, marking a point
08:00where the game moves into new territory, like jumping ahead seven years in Ocarina of Time.
08:06Plus, it doesn't hurt that you get a big boost in damage over whatever Sword Link starts with,
08:11so you can slay the forces of evil with greater ease.
08:15The Master Sword is one of the most iconic weapons in video games, a status earned through
08:20years of memorable appearances that make us feel like legendary heroes ourselves.
08:40If you love games, be sure to check out WatchMojo's new game, Terrible Influence.

09:05Blades of Chaos, God of War
09:08There's nowhere you can hide, Spartan.
09:12Put as much distance between you and the truth as you want.
09:16Kratos started his video game journey with the Blades of Chaos, yet unlocking them in
09:212018's God of War is more satisfying than we could have imagined.
09:25With Atreus falling dangerously ill, Kratos returns home to retrieve the weapons given to
09:30him by his former master, and prepares to head into Helheim.
09:34It's one of the best moments in the game.
09:37Incredible character writing as Kratos has fought so hard to keep his past hidden away,
09:42yet brings it to light to save his son, and anchored by a fantastic performance from Christopher
09:48Judge.
09:49What makes this moment perfect is then being allowed to rip through a swarm of enemies just
09:54outside.
09:55But the combination of deep introspection for Kratos and the absolutely ferocious power
10:01fantasy of the Blades is one of the most satisfying moments in the whole series.
10:07What's the most satisfying moment you can recall unlocking a new weapon or piece of gear
10:11in a video game?
10:12Share those memories in the comments, and we will see you next time.
