00:00Well thank you so much for joining me Chris. Now first of all tell us a bit
00:03about the origins of Briggsies. It was originally a historic cinema is that
00:07right? Yeah that's correct so from what I understand is Briggsies or formerly the
00:15venue itself was kind of constructed around 1985. Over the hundred years it's
00:22been a cinema, it's been a theatre and now formally it's been an antique store so
00:28one of the biggest antique stores. I see and now you're in a situation where
00:31you're looking for someone to buy the building. Just tell us a bit about why
00:35that's happened and a bit about the sort of community response. How are people
00:38feeling about this? Yeah it's a massive shift over the five years we've created something which we
00:44feel the community love not just local community but also tourists or visitors
00:50from further afield. Potentially with Briggsie closing that impacts not just
00:55people's way of generating income but also for people who just see it as a
00:59place that they want to visit or a hub or just a safe place where they can explore
01:02and be part of the community. So yeah massive shame if we're to lose it.
01:07Obviously we're trying everything possible to keep Briggsies as it is and continue to
01:12flourish. It's an amazing place. And I'm aware that Briggsies has become quite
01:16iconic for some of the items that you sell. Tell us a bit about your strangest stock.
01:20I'm aware there's a 17-foot King Kong statue. We've got a King Kong statue, we've got an
01:27Iron Giant which is which has been made by the incredible Steve who deserves all the
01:34credit for kind of basically designing them and creating them as flagship pieces within the store.
01:42We also have had loads of stocks over the years. What I find incredible about coming to the
01:46important when I when I come down to visit from London is the variety of stock and what changes
01:51each week a month continues to amaze me. We've had we've had church bells, we've had jukeboxes,
01:57we've had windows from Kew Gardens. It's amazing for all ages. It's an incredible venue. So if you
02:06haven't been there please do come and visit because I think you'll find something which is a gem or just
02:12something that's nostalgic. But also if you are a massive supporter and have been supporting us
02:17over the years please continue to do so and we hugely appreciate it. I see. Thank you so much for
02:21joining us. Thank you.
