00:04Turnarounds can be used within a song. They can be used to add tension between the one and the
00:09four to go from chord to chord. You can throw turnarounds in the middle of your solo. You
00:13can mess around with them. You can invent your own. I like stuff like that's one of the ones I
00:22use a lot. That's based around maybe something I heard Eddie Taylor do. Eddie Taylor played with
00:26Jimmy Reed. The cool thing about them is once you learn them then you just expand on them and put
00:36your own inflections into them. So you know if you hear a turnaround that goes you can play around
00:44with that and go. So there's just there's a million ways to play them and they're always fun and they
00:53always bring your playing back and they ground your playing. They make it sound like you're a
00:57blues player. Single note turnarounds are of course are really important. Freddie King had great ones.
01:03T-Bone Walker had great ones. I'm still in the key of E but if you're gonna do single note
01:12the key of G is
01:13a good one to do. That's sort of a T-Bone Walker. Anything like that you know Freddie King. That's
01:32from
01:33Hideaway. Freddie King had some of the best turnaround so I would really recommend checking his stuff out.
01:41But anyway check out turnarounds tie them in with your playing and use them in your solos and you
01:49know you can use a turnaround as part of your solo and you can use a turnaround going from the
01:54one to
01:54the fourth tying chords together in a progression. You know if I'm just doing a blues shuffle in E
02:06listen it adds tension it builds it adds excitement. I can continue on the A.
02:20It's just fun to be able to throw in a turnaround in the middle of your thing you know a
02:23lot of times
02:24we don't know what we're gonna do in a solo or how to make even a simple blues progression which
02:29people
02:29might think oh that's so easy there's nothing happening it's only three chords it's only boring
02:34but it's not it's exciting as you make it and they're really finding the excitement within it is
02:40the whole fun of blues is finding your own your own voice and your own inflections and playing with
