Tensions escalated outside the Parliament Street Police Station in Delhi as a five-member delegation, including 14-year-old Nishu Azad, her father Sanjay Kumar, Member of Parliament Chandrashekhar Azad, and CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das, met with the Station House Officer. The delegation, backed by the legal team of the Congress Party, demanded the immediate arrest of activist Swatantra Bharadwaj for allegedly assaulting Sanjay Kumar during a protest at Jantar Mantar. Protesters and leaders demanded that Delhi Police invoke stringent legal provisions in the First Information Report, including charges of attempt to murder under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, hate speech sections, habitual offender tags, and sections of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. The incident gained political momentum after the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi extended support following an appeal by Nishu Azad. Delhi Police placed heavy barricades and deployed security personnel outside the station premises as protesters staged a dharna demanding swift action.

00:26according to sources that tell India today that the Congress's legal team is also at the Parliament Street police station
00:33at the moment.
00:34Watch those pictures as there is heavy barricading, heightened security at the Parliament Street police station

00:55Also saying, we will seek pressing of hate speech section, habitual offender and SCST atrocities act into the FIR.
01:04Remember, all of this is coming in from sources at the moment because as we understand that all five are
01:09inside the police station
01:11talking with the top cops.
01:13So, there has been no follow-up thereafter to whether they have reached any conclusions so far.
01:18But as we understand, the situation is getting tense.
01:21Congress's legal team that is also helping Nishu Azad seeking immediate arrest of Swatantra Bharadwaj for attacking Nishu's father.
01:29Listen in to all the responses that have come in so far.

02:12I am glad that we must give this advice to us.
02:21In this case, we will not be able to give this advice to us.
02:29We will not be able to give this advice.
02:33Our people with the parents, the family,
02:35they will be able to give this advice.
02:37The people with the family,
02:38they will be able to arrest the police.
02:48Let me take this to my colleagues, Anshul Singh and Aishwarya Paliwal, who are reporting from outside the Parliament Street
02:55Police Station, getting us the very latest.
02:56Anshul, if I could quickly come to you, because you've been there for the last couple of hours.
03:00At the moment, we understand five of those individuals I named, who are inside the police station, talking to the
03:06top cops.
03:06Are they out yet? Any resolution? What more are you picking up?
03:14So, at this point in time, no resolution has been reached upon.
03:17In fact, what we are being told by the way of sources is that the meeting is actually happening with
03:21the SHO of the Parliament Street Police Station at this point.
03:23And if I could just give you a sense of the visuals outside Parliament Street Police Station.
03:27On one hand, there are these barricades that have been put up.
03:29The police personals are deployed inside the barricades, whereas the supporters of the CJP are sitting on a dhanda outside
03:36these barricades over here.
03:38So, the meeting has started.
03:39Five-member delegation has gone inside, which includes the 14-year-old girl, Nishu Azad.
03:46And they are having a meeting with the SHO of the Parliament Street Police Station.
03:50If at all no resolution is reached in this meeting, then other senior officials of the Delhi Police, that could
03:56be an additional DCP rank or a DCP rank officer, could also go ahead and speak with them and try
04:02to make them understand as to what kind of action has been taken.
04:05And what are the reasons, due to which Section 109 of the BNS has not been added in the FIR?
04:11Will the CJP workers and the other people be convinced of these arguments?
04:16That is something that only time will tell.
04:17But yes, the Delhi Police is trying to tell them that requisite legal action that was mandated by the law
04:22has already been taken.
04:24Now, since the accused has come himself and made certain claims, it needs to be ascertained if at all these
04:31claims can be substantiated with evidences.
04:33And that is something that the Delhi Police will now further have to work on and ascertain if at all
04:38the claims that have been made from the side of Sotantar Bhardwaj.
04:41These claims are actually factual in nature.
04:44And if at all these claims turn out to be factual, then we can definitely expect some serious action that
04:48could be taken from the side of the Delhi Police.
04:51Oh yes, absolutely.
04:53But let's not forget the political color that this entire story has taken.
04:56Aishwarya, I want to come to you for that because as we understand, CJP standing rock solid with both the
05:03father and the daughter at the moment.
05:05We also have the Congress legal team that has swung to action after Rahul Gandhi extended support.
05:11All of them together amping up pressure against the cops to answer on what has happened.
05:18And just a short while ago, we also saw Chandra Shekharaza join in.
05:21In fact, Aishwarya details just coming in of how the meeting between Delhi Police and CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and
05:28Swarabdas has begun.
05:29The delegation is accompanied by Nishu Azad, her father Sanjay Azad and MP Chandrasekhar.
05:35The meeting that is happening with the SHO Parliament Street at this point.
05:39Exactly what Anshil confirmed with us a short while ago.
05:42Meanwhile, Aishwarya, all of them amping up pressure against the Delhi Police.
05:49Well, definitely, you know, we are also seeing a political colour being given to this entire protest that we are
05:56seeing taking place at this moment right outside the Parliament Street's police station.
06:00Barely two kilometres away from the Indian Parliament and 200 metres away from where the protests took place, the CJP
06:07protests took place at Jantar Mantar.
06:09See, we are seeing how it is Chandrasekhar Azad who is putting his full might behind Nishu Azad.
06:15He is inside. There is a conversation which is taking place.
06:17In fact, let me tell you, the reason why the legal team of the Congress Party is inside is because
06:22there was a direct appeal which was being made by Nishu.
06:25She had put out a tweet in which she had said that she is requesting Rahul Gandhi to support her
06:30and to stand behind her.
06:31That's the reason why you are seeing the Congress Party and the leadership from the Congress Party also inside.
06:36In fact, Rahul Gandhi, let me tell you, had quoted her tweet and said that we will stand behind you.
06:41This is something which is not acceptable. And he also directly asked questions of the Prime Minister and of the
06:46Home Minister and said that this is the condition of the law and order situation in our country.
06:50What is the government doing? They need to take strict and stern action as soon as possible.
06:56This also, let me tell you, Suisha, you know, from what it looks like at the moment, I'm standing right
07:00outside the police station.
07:01First, I'll tell you the kind of barricading that has, in fact, been done.
07:06The main gate of the police station, this is the place from where all five of them had gone inside.
07:11You can see policemen in large numbers, all of them standing outside, making sure that the protesters do not enter
07:17the police station.
07:18Because if that happens, then it will be a law and order situation right in the heart of the national
07:22capital.
07:23The barricades have been put out.
07:24The protesters are on one side of the barricade and the policemen are on the other side of the barricade.
07:30But politics also is now being played, Suisha, and it's pretty evident.
07:33We did see those visuals of the CGP top leadership, in fact, going and meeting Akhilesh Yadav,
07:38keeping an eye on the 2027 state elections that will take place in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
07:43And now we are seeing the opposition uniting once again behind the CGP and behind the atrocities,
07:49the alleged atrocities that people are saying have been committed.
07:53Aishwara, stay on, because let's explain to our viewers in detail about this man, Svatantra Bhardwaj.
07:59Why his actions are under scrutiny and what exactly he has claimed.
08:04Coming across as nothing short of a goon, but calling himself an activist,
08:10the dispute started over a particular video recording, a podcast interview that he gave,
08:14where he spoke about what had happened in Jantar Mantar.
08:17He spoke about the incident that happened on June 23rd at Jantar Mantar,
08:22where Svatantra confronted Sanjay Kumar, who is the father of Nishu Azad,
08:27over that particular recording.
08:29Svatantra said that his aides had assaulted Sanjay Kumar.
08:33He's admitted to that.
08:35He said that Sanjay was hit by Svatantra's kada, which is the metal bangle that he was wearing.
08:41Cops, meanwhile, had arrested two and one accused had fled.
08:46Svatantra Bhardwaj, Suraj Kumar had been named as the accused.
08:50Sanjay Kumar, the man in question, the victim, who was taken to the hospital for his medical test.
08:58The medical report that claimed that he had two head wounds.
09:01The case that had been filed for hurt, wrongful restraint.
09:05Now, remember, this is according to the FIR.
09:08I want to take this back to my colleague, Aishwarya, who's been tracking all the developments,
09:12because Aishwarya, like we understand, this man, Svatantra Bhardwaj,
09:16has made some very, very controversial statements,
09:19has been projecting himself as though he's above the law,
09:23and certainly needs to be taught a lesson.
09:25Meanwhile, in-depth investigation, that must happen,
09:28because he's been name-throwing of the BJP, of certain ministers and those in power,
09:34saying that he enjoys the privilege of knowing them.
09:43Well, definitely, you know, we have seen it's a video versus video war that has now taken place.
09:48We are seeing clarifications coming in from Sutantra Bhardwaj,
09:52very, very clearly saying that all that he did was in self-defense,
09:55and he also said that the reason why he became aggressive
09:58is because there were comments that were being made against India,
10:01there were comments that were being made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi,
10:04and he believes that there were comments being made against the Sanatana Dharma,
10:08and that's the reason why he got angry,
10:10but he also said that it was in self-defense,
10:12because had he not taken action, had he not stood up in self-defense,
10:16he's claiming that he would have been lynched.
10:19On the other side, we are seeing how the CJP is saying
10:21that when the government gave an assurance
10:24that there will be no action that will be taken against those who were protesting
10:27at the Jantar Mantar, there will be no action that will be taken
10:30against the family members of those who were protesting.
10:32Why is it that a man on video can say that,
10:35yes, he did assault the father of someone who, in fact, was protesting?
10:39The girl herself has come out, made a video,
10:42made an appeal to the LOP,
10:44the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi,
10:46and now we can see the political color being given.
10:49The CJP, from what I understand, is also trying to make sure
10:52that they repeat what Rahul Gandhi did exactly a week back.
10:56Exactly a week back, Suisha, we saw Rahul Gandhi sitting right here
11:00for seven long hours, and later in the day,
11:02we also saw how Priyanka Gandhi-Wadra also accompanied him.
11:06They were sitting right outside the police station,
11:09and they were waiting for the FIR to be lodged.
11:11The CJP is hoping they will be able to repeat
11:14and come out victorious if the FIR is lodged.
11:18The meeting is, in fact, let me tell you,
11:19taking place inside the SHO,
11:21is listening to them and listening to the appeals
11:23that they have come here and they are making
11:25inside the police station.
