00:22Takiyudin said the issue had not been brought before Cabinet.
00:25He noted that Tengku Zafrul Aziz was Finance Minister at the time
00:29and maintained past representatives had no prior information about the decision.
00:34Yesterday, Tengku Zafrul said the former government was collectively responsible for increasing the number of special draws.
00:40Tengku Zafrul, now the Prime Minister's senior political advisor, noted that special draws dated back to 1999
00:47and a 22-draw annual ceiling already existed under Barisan Nasional.
00:51He added that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the government returned to that existing ceiling
00:56and informed Parliament of the matter through an official reply.
00:59The current government has since reduced the number of special lottery draws to eight a year.
