00:31that's the funniest thing yeah he had a really good year last year had the best team that he's
00:35ever had and then left and left left them before the season was over and we're just expecting that
00:40all of the decisions he's making now are going to pay off and be fruitful for lsu and like the
00:46crazy thing to be is that all this is happening for like a tight end in the defensive lineman
00:50he is not even players at premium positions it's not like a badass edge that's going to come in
00:55and get 12 sacks it's for a defense because that guy would have gone to the pros exactly they would
01:00they would have all gone this is all for like 4a players that that guys that are you know good

01:05college but not quite good enough for the pros it's it's crazy that kiffin is just so willing to burn

01:24take it because other teams might want to do the same thing i think it's going to be some semblance

01:41these guys these kids are going to be playing so i think they'll get them this week they might get
01:45them next week too it's not like they need them i mean with all due respect to dapo sweeney lsu

01:49to run over them regardless of whether or not they have these players because lsu is just a better
01:53team and i think that's the craziest thing of this whole off season whether it's the drama with the
01:58five stuff or now with this and these this former players coming back to college they had a good
02:03football team and they were going to be really good in an sec that i think is relatively wide open
02:08and now lane just he literally cannot stay out of his own way yeah but like the question i ask

02:38place and everyone has a camera and everyone wants you to look at them but you have no idea where

02:45but then another judge from another state is saying something completely different but you can be like

03:32tongue-in-cheek but it's also not like the next civil war in this country is is going to be

03:36by college athletics because you're just going to have states suing one another over the right for
03:41college athletes to play or to not play and then it's going to get way over the top but there's
03:45just there's no real guidance so when people were clowning the fcc when sankey said hey we're thinking
03:50about leading the ncaa this is why because the ncaa can't do anything they go to court and they get
03:55destroyed in court almost every single time and then you have situations like this it's crazy man

04:05are you doing the saturday night show yeah friday and saturday night so you're like we're fully
04:09live and in rocking and rolling and the occasional saturday morning depending on on schedules but
04:14you'll hear me on the weekends all the time on yeah on serious xm college football yeah i was listening
04:20to that this morning dude i was listening to cannell this morning it was fun um it sucks because there
04:26should be so much excitement just about what's going to happen on the field week one and because
04:31lane kiffin desires every possible attention dollar it's this lawsuit nonsense but let's talk about the
04:36actual games let's start last night coach prime gets a win in atlanta that was a wild finish to that
04:42ball game i mean how awesome was that you know you have two teams that are they're not ranked but

04:47the only power four versus power four game and it's in a prime time slot i love when teams take
04:53advantage of this and for deon to get the win the way that they did for julian lewis who at
04:56one point
04:57was super highly recruited coming out of high school and never truly found his footing but for him to
05:03have that touchdown pass at the very end of the game and then for them to block the field goal
05:07i mean
05:07i can't draw up something and then including the fact that it's deon in atlanta i can't draw up a
05:12better situation than that for colorado and you know we'll see what their season looks like but in the
05:17big 12 where it's kind of texas tech and everybody else there is a lot of room for colorado to
05:22start
05:22stacking some wins here and have a really strong season the jackets did kind of get screwed in that
05:27game the touchdown the the fumble six early on was a fumble and they called it back and then there

05:33like another fumble late or a backwards pass or whatever that they called back i imagine if you're
05:38a georgia tech fan and i don't know how many of them there are but if you are a georgia
05:42tech fan you're
05:42pissed off this morning yeah you're not happy yeah you're very upset with the way that that went down
05:48but that's honestly isn't that the fun part you know if you're a georgia tech fan maybe not but
05:52like for us i'd much rather be talking about this than like restraining orders i mean we had a hail
05:58mary last night in the illinois game at the half and it ended up being like a pretty massive momentum
06:03swing illinois and uab were kind of tight going into the half and then illinois capitalizes on this
06:09hail mary and they end up winning by like 20 because they turn it on in the second half like

06:13stuff man i mean illinois had a better night than their big 10 brother in rutgers what does that loss

06:25is going to be forced to take the rutgers job i mean i don't know how they lost the jersey

07:39uh miami stanford i imagine the canes roll into palo alto and just just beat the hell out of them
07:46beat the hell out of them it does to beat a pritchard and then the stamper cardinal have a
07:51shot tonight i wouldn't say they have much of a shot i mean maybe if you're looking at like some
07:55first half betting numbers to maybe keep it close but i'm really excited to see darian mensa i mean
08:00miami has really quietly had a couple of good quarterbacks in the mario cristobal era and i think
08:05darian mensa is going to factor into that you know they go from cam ward to carson beck to now

08:09who played at duke but before that he played at two lane and he had two lane on a yearly
08:13basis kind
08:14of in the playoff run from the g5 so now he's going to a school that has mark fletcher who
08:19might
08:19be pound for pound the best uh running back in the sport but also the second best player behind
08:25obviously jeremiah smith and you get malachi tony on that offense too i mean they have a lot of weapons
08:30and defensively they're going to be stout again so i don't know if stanford has a huge chance but
08:34i think that one's going to be fun for maybe the first quarter and a half
08:38you think are the canes a real title contender
08:41yeah oh definitely i mean they're the best team in the acc by a pretty significant margin
08:46and i would say for sure they can uh if they put all the pieces together i think they can
08:50absolutely be in a similar position where they were last year
08:53if uh so when you start looking at this thing at the end who you think is going to be

08:59holding up trophy i mean so i've been as much as i don't love gambling on notre dame
09:05notre dame's been my pick for a number of different reasons first i like cj carr
09:09i like marcus freeman but really it comes down to their walk to the playoff is the easiest walk
09:15that you're ever going to do in your life they have basically nobody on the schedule and on top
09:20of that this is the year where they get that kicker if they're in the top 12 even if they're
09:24bumping
09:24somebody that's ahead of them they're getting into the college football playoff it's one of that
09:28that's so absurd that they just carve out that rule for notre dame i could not tell you i mean
09:33the
09:34amount of politicking that they had to do and seemingly like wasn't even pushed back on
09:38i think they just it was just like yeah no we can totally we can totally do that so they're
09:43going
09:43to get there and then it just comes down to can they actually get it done and i like marcus

09:48a lot i heard you guys talking about him earlier i think he is a really really good coach and

09:52from a like an x's and o's and decision making in late game scenarios i do think he's a one
09:58of the
09:58better guys in the sport so i think notre dame is probably the the best play some of these other
10:03schools have really great rosters but they're going to be a super beat up i mean ohio state
10:09top to bottom is the best roster in the sport but their schedule is not easy this year this might

10:13one of the most difficult schedules they played in a long long time so they're going to have their
10:17bumps and bruises where notre dame is going to be looking bright and shiny by the time we get to

10:21the cfp um tonight we also the nightcap tonight we get to see usc lincoln riley's bunch the pictures
10:30went pretty viral of what looked like maybe a hundred people at their opener last week week zero
10:35wow uh what do you think of the trojans could they be a playoff team going to the big 10

10:41great for them no i mean so they have you know in previous years when we look at certain teams
10:47in
10:47the sec you're like wow that team that team's running a gauntlet i don't know that there's
10:51anybody that has a more treacherous six game stretch than usc does at the end of this month
10:57bleeding into the month of november they go oregon washington at penn state wisconsin which that'll be
11:03a layup and then ohio state indiana i mean if they're a two loss team by the end of it
11:07that means
11:08they have a couple of wins against some really good programs they're going to be super battle tested if
11:12they get to the college football playoff they're going to have earned it if they don't you're going
11:17to start to hear some serious conversations about the future of lincoln riley because he's
11:21he's now been there for a couple of years and you know he had a double digit win season when
11:25caleb williams won the heisman when they first got there but ever since those double digit win
11:30seasons have not come and they paid him a lot of money to make the program relevant again which
11:35as you saw last weekend it's not totally relevant in los angeles but they also paid you to win
11:40and you're not doing either of those things so this is a big year for him but then it's not
11:43just
11:44about paying the coaches he's making 10 million you got to pay the players to come there and play
11:48for you yeah i like jade mayava i mean i think he's a really really good player this year is
11:54so much
11:54fun guys in comparison to last year because it feels like there's probably 12 to 15 to 18 quarterbacks
12:00that you can look at and say well you know regardless of their nfl future just in the realm of
12:04college
12:04football oh i really like this guy and mayava is definitely one of those dudes so i think they have
12:09you know they they spent the money well it just now comes down to can you actually perform against
12:14the teams that are also spending the money well d-day we also get to see the boomer sooner oklahoma
12:20tonight um i don't think utep's going to give them much of a matchup but the oklahoma seems like one

12:26the sneaky teams kind of like miami last year in that you know their defense is going to be really
12:31rugged and and what a sea change that is from when lincoln riley was running the sooners when they
12:36could score on anybody but couldn't stop anybody now brett venables is there you know that defense
12:41is going to be good john mateer was good last year prior to the thumb injury is oklahoma a sneaky
12:47final four title contender yeah i'm so glad you asked about that because yes is the answer with
12:53all of the chaos that's going on in the sec mostly because of uh lane kiffin but with all the
12:58chaos
12:59that's going on they're very much flying under the radar and you know mateer was a heisman
13:04front runner it was so early so like why are we doing this in september but he was a heisman
13:08front
13:09runner before he injured the thumb and then he rushed himself back because he wanted to play in
13:12some of their big games in the middle portion of their schedule and he said he's like hey it just
13:16never fully got back to where it needed to be well now with a full off season i expect that
13:21thumb
13:22is going to be back i think the velocity on the ball is going to be back and you know
13:25he is very much
13:26a gamer right he can make big throws he does it with his legs if you're a commander's fan he's
13:32kind of
13:32similar in a sense to what heineke was here for a little bit but he just has such a good
13:36defense
13:37behind him venables has always gotten that side of the football right if they just continue to fly
13:44on the radar i absolutely think that this is his best chance being brett venables his best chance
13:49to do some serious damage in the college football playoff with oklahoma now granted tonight the game
13:53is going to be over by like midway through the second quarter they're probably going to have 35 up by
13:57halftime but once you get to see better teams you know they get michigan in week number two again
14:01i think that's going to be a really nice litmus test for mater in this oklahoma offense i got a
14:06question for b mitch specifically about mater b get your phone out i'm going to drop this photo in

14:18especially like when you were playing b there was kind of a stock type where they're six four

15:05keelan russell um kalen deborah there's questions if he's an sec coach what what do you think about
15:11bama going into what might be probably is make or break for deborah i think they have a they're another
15:17team that and this is crazy to say out loud they're flying under the radar right i mean the
15:22sec is as wide open as it's been in years and because people are kind of out on kalen deborah
15:27nationally and people are so much in on texas and in on georgia and lankiff and makes it impossible
15:34to not look at him they are flying under the radar i do think the kalen i think kalen deborah
15:38is a
15:39winning football coach and i think if you're a really good winning football coach you can find ways
15:43to win anywhere russell is going to be his guide like this is this is his dude if he's going
15:49to
15:49make his money at alabama long term he really needs him to end up working out of the quarterback spot
15:54i think they're they're in for a solid season but you're going to learn a lot about this kid to
15:58see
15:58hey can you win at the at a big level and if the answer to that is no the leash
16:04for some of these
16:05coaches is significantly shorter than what it's been in years and we kind of saw that a little bit last
16:10year you can find the money like there are people that have the money to pay some of these massive
16:15ridiculous buyouts i don't think he's on the hot seat necessarily but i don't think it takes a lot
16:20to go from a nice cool comfortable seat to a very warm seat in alabama no it sure doesn't um

16:28your boy kate is the boy i i can't wait to watch it man um this kid they claim is
16:33the absolute real deal
16:35one thing that's crazy we talk about maybe under the radar teams and i get that mendoza is now
16:40playing for the raiders but indiana since signetti's been there has been an absolute wagon are we paying
16:47enough attention to the hoosiers i think we're paying enough attention at the moment you know
16:52i think hoover's a good player i don't know that he's fernando mendoza maybe signetti turns him into
16:56fernando mendoza but i think they're going to kind of they're going to be almost kind of like what
17:02georgia has been for a while which is they're constantly in conversations but maybe not full contenders
17:07you know georgia hasn't been a legitimate contender in like four or five years since they had this
17:10crazy defenses they've gotten close but you can look at them and say well you're not quite where
17:15you need to be i kind of feel like that's what indiana is going to be to where they'll make
17:18the
17:18college football playoff they'll probably win a game in the college football playoff but then you'll
17:22start to see some of these other teams across the nation who are a little bit more talented who
17:27have a little bit more talent specifically at the quarterback position i'll duel them um all right d-day i

17:36know you host a lot of our burgundy and gold post games uh what do you think of the burgundy

17:40you know we got labor day weekend off but then it's full go next week i can't wait you know

17:46anxious to see what the center spot is going to look like it does feel like a prayer at the
17:50moment but
17:51i'm excited man i mean we haven't seen anything from them offensively you know they've been doing so
17:56such minimal stuff such vanilla stuff in the preseason i never take into consideration
18:01preseason stuff with you know too much of a grain of salt but i'm really excited to see jay daniel's
18:06healthy again i mean i think he's looked really good in training camp and it is no secret the
18:11season is going to go on the arm and potentially legs of number five and this is the best supporting
18:17cast i think he's had in a a long long time going back to the lsu days but i i've
18:22loved resting with
18:23him and stefan digs in particular i mean digs came in and immediately it felt like they had a nice
18:27chemistry so i'm excited to see that in games that matter and in games he's going to play
