A full week of family dinners from Scotland, with easy homemade meals that move from comforting pasta bakes to curry, fish cakes, Spanish chicken and a proper steak tea. Cheryl shares what was served from Monday through Sunday, with plenty of simple, practical ideas for anyone who enjoys real-life UK family meal inspiration.

The week starts with tuna pasta bake served straight from the pan, followed by a Chinese takeaway style chicken curry with plain egg noodles to use up what was in the freezer. Midweek brings a picky plate loaded with ham, salad, mozzarella pearls, pesto pasta, jacket potato, coleslaw and tuna sweetcorn mayo, then a creamy garlic Alfredo pasta with sweetcorn and parmesan. Later on there are tuna, lime and coriander fish cakes with new potatoes and peas, Spanish chicken in a smoky tomato and paprika sauce with basmati rice, and finally sirloin steak with garlic butter mushrooms, potato croquettes and onion rings.

This is a cosy family food vlog with weeknight dinner ideas, budget-friendly meal inspiration and plenty of comfort food. It suits viewers looking for meals of the week, Scottish family dinners, easy dinner ideas, pasta recipes, curry nights, fish cake suppers and simple home cooking.

00:06well hello there folks and a very warm welcome back to what's for tea and it's lovely to see
00:12you all again and i hope you've had a good week and that i find you very well indeed and
00:17thanks
00:17for coming over just to see what i've made again this week it's my favorite time of the week on
00:22the channel and i know it's a big favorite with a lot of you as well so as usual starting
00:27from
00:28monday through till today which is sunday and if you do like these kinds of videos please consider
00:33subscribing just before you go so as you can see on monday we had tuna pasta bake so this was
00:40using
00:40the tuna pasta bake seasoning but i didn't actually put it into the oven we just had this straight from
00:46the pan so you're meant to put it in the oven with some cheese on the top and let it
00:50go nice and
00:50crispy but i didn't bother this time we like it either way so i've got some garlic bread sticks
00:56on the side and that's the tuna pasta so it's penny pasta the seasoning blend the tuna obviously
01:02and some sweet corn and the flavor profile of this is a sort of creamy tomatoey cheesy flavor which goes
01:10really nice with the tuna and the sweet corn and i know a lot of folk don't like the idea
01:15of this but
01:15it is really tasty and then moving on to tuesday i made a curry now i usually make some kind
01:22of curry
01:22whether it's you know an indian style takeaway curry or a chinese style takeaway curry my favorite
01:29is the chinese takeaway style curry which this was and we would usually have rice and chips you know
01:35something like that but i did have egg noodles in the freezer that i needed to use up so i
01:41just used
01:41the egg noodles and just kept them plain sometimes i add soy sauce and onion and sort of pan fry
01:48them but
01:48i just kept them plain and this is my usual sort of takeaway style chinese chicken curry on the top
01:55which was lovely one of my favorites and then moving on to wednesday i'm going to call this one
02:01a picky plate i would usually call this a sort of salad but lots of you have said you know
02:07it's a picky
02:07plate so i am going to go with picky plate and as you can see there's a lot going on
02:12here this was
02:13mr what's for tea's plate i didn't have quite as much as this but yeah just a nice easy combo
02:19so
02:19we've got some ham some lettuce tomato and there's cucumber dressing there's spring onion on there as
02:27well some mozzarella pearls with pesto jacket potato coleslaw some pesto pasta and then some tuna sweet
02:35corn and mayo in the corner and like i said a lot going on here but this was his plate
02:40and he's a greedy
02:41person so i had the same just not quite as much then moving on to thursday we had pasta again
02:48but this time it was a lovely alfredo sauce that i made so it's very creamy garlicky cheesy there's
02:55parmesan cream garlic in here and also the pasta shells as well just for a wee change with a tomato
03:02on the side for a wee bit of health with salt and pepper on the top and that's the pasta
03:07shells with
03:08the alfredo sauce and i also added some sweet corn in there as well just for a nice texture change
03:14just
03:14to stop it you know from being completely smooth and it adds a nice bit of crunch and it also
03:20added
03:20some extra parmesan and black pepper to the top i haven't had alfredo sauce for ages and it's one of
03:27my
03:27favorites i prefer this over cheese sauce just because of the garlic and then moving on to friday we had
03:34these wee fish cakes i actually had a jacket potato so mr what's for tea had the fish cakes and
03:40you will
03:40have seen these if you watched my wee shopping and bagging the other day so these were the tuna lime
03:46and coriander fish cakes and these were lovely for a change from our usual haddock or cod fish cakes
03:53we've got some new potatoes on the side with some garlic butter and then some garden peas and then just
04:00some parsley on the top ever so easy to put together and takes no time at all then moving on
04:07to yesterday i made spanish chicken i was going to do another indian style curry but decided just to
04:13have the spanish chicken instead just because i had everything in to make it so this is a tomato
04:18based sauce and there's smoked paprika in here there's peppers onions garlic as well and we had some
04:25basmati rice just on the bottom and that's that lovely spanish chicken there you are meant to add
04:31chorizo to this but i didn't have any so this is spanish chicken without the chorizo sausage so yeah
04:37it was absolutely delicious with the lovely smoky paprika flavor thoroughly enjoyed this one and also added
04:45some parsley to the top just for a pop of color and it just brings everything to life so yeah
04:51thoroughly
04:52enjoyed that one and then moving on to today we had steak we don't have steak very often but i
04:59picked
04:59up a couple of steaks from the local butcher these are sirloin steaks and they're quite thin i was going
05:05to pound them down just to tenderize them a wee bit but as it turns out these were actually very
05:11tender so
05:12again just nice for a wee change and very easy and quick to make so i've got some sauteed mushrooms
05:18which
05:18have been sauteed in garlic and butter that's that steak there which has been very well done we do
05:24like well done steak i don't mind medium mr what's for tea likes a well done steak we've got some
05:31tomato
05:31on the side some potato croquettes just for a change from our usual chips and then some beer battered
05:38onion rings as well so yeah thoroughly enjoyed this one again but like i said not one we have
05:44very often but yeah it is nice just for a change so that was everything that we had this week
