00:12again and i hope that i find you very well and welcome back to this week's meals of the week
00:18and it's been a nice warm week not roasting you know let's not go crazy we are in scotland
00:23but compared to the rest of the year it's been boiling so it's been quite a warm week so let
00:28me
00:29go and show you what we had so on monday it was a lovely day so i went out for
00:33a drive to a place
00:35called largs which is about 40 minutes away from where we are and i've got a great wee chippy there
00:40called the fishworks and we like to go here just from time to time just sit in the car at
00:45the seafront
00:46you know watch the sea watch the seagulls and the chip shop is just down the road a wee bit
00:51and you
00:51can do a click and collect so i just ordered this on my phone and then i went and collected
00:56it but
00:56yeah lovely for a wee change so i had the haddock and batter with chips and i got a wee
01:02pot of tartar
01:03sauce as well not gonna lie i have been to this chippy quite a few times and it's been really
01:08nice
01:09but that fish there although it looks massive is mostly batter the fish inside was actually
01:15disappointingly small so that's about 60 percent batter but it was still really tasty i'll just give
01:21you a quick look at the menu they've won all sorts of awards this place like i said they are
01:26normally
01:27very good but it's just this time it just wasn't the best but you do get that you know wherever
01:32you go so just a wee quick look at the menu because i know a lot of you like to
01:36see
01:36you know what else do they do what are the prices like and maybe compare where you are or maybe
01:42you
01:42don't have this kind of thing where you are so it's quite interesting to see what is in the menu
01:48what folk around about here like to order and what's on offer so yeah like i said this is the
01:54fishworks at largs seafront and it's really nice you know normally and especially if you've got a nice
02:00bright warm day this was about six o'clock at night so it wasn't overly bright getting a wee bit
02:06cooler
02:06so just the perfect time for a chippy in my opinion and it's not the cheapest around you know it's
02:15not
02:15very good there's a chip shop just across the road as well called the viking which is a wee bit
02:21cheaper but that's a wee bit more sort of hit and miss sometimes they're really good sometimes
02:25they're absolutely terrible so if you want to avoid that i would say just try the fishworks it's worth
02:31the extra couple of pounds normally in my opinion they've got a really good vegan section as well
02:37and meat-free alternatives you know if you are vegan or vegetarian not sponsored in any way
02:43just saying and then moving on to tuesday we had sausages and generally we'll have
02:49mashed potato with the sausages but it's just been quite warm so for a change i just made a jacket
02:56potato instead and these are the wee mccain jackets and aj if you're watching i'm delighted to see
03:03that you've got something similar coming into your local store they are starting to do the frozen
03:08jackets and frozen potato products so hopefully they're as nice as these are and we've got baked
03:14beans of course and then just a few pork sausage links from the local butcher on the side just a
03:20classic combination very easy but really tasty as well and then moving on to wednesday one of our
03:27absolute favorites and i know that it's a big favorite with a lot of you now because you have
03:32gone on to make this and you'll tag me over on instagram and show me your pictures yeah again
03:37doesn't look pretty on the plate but let me tell you this is delicious and we call this cheeseburger
03:43pasta bake just because it's got so many of the elements of a cheeseburger with pasta so you've
03:49got ground beef there's onions mushrooms cheese there's tomato soup in there and also the macaroni
03:56onion oh it's just lovely and everything just gets cooked and then whacked into the oven to go nice
04:02and bubbly on the top and i will leave the video recipe for this down below just in case you
04:07want
04:07to make it for yourself highly recommended and then moving on to thursday we had a warm steak baguette
04:15this was a lovely day the sun was shining i think we got up to about 35 degrees which is
04:20unheard of
04:21for scotland at this time of the year everybody's in their shorts and t-shirts you know it's crazy
04:27it's probably quite cold in lots of other areas of the world but here it's quite warm so i've just
04:33got a bake at home baguette which has gone lovely and crispy there's some fried steak and there's
04:38onions and cheese on there as well we've got some skinny fries and a buttered corn on the cob and
04:45again everything that i do is really easy to make and really quick usually to put together so hopefully
04:51this will give you ideas for you and your own family you know if you don't like a lot of
04:55fuss and you
04:55don't like to spend too long in the kitchen then this is a really good one something like that
05:00and then moving on to friday we had mince pies or mr what's for tea had a wee individual mince
05:07pie i
05:08just had steak and broccoli and rice which i will show you as well because lots of you ask and
05:13you
05:13know what do you have and lots of the time we do have the same sort of stuff but occasionally
05:17like
05:18this night i didn't i'm not the biggest fan of these wee pies but he loves them so that's a
05:23mince and onion puka pie and we've got some tender stem broccoli and then it's jersey royal season we
05:29love jersey royal potatoes they've got such a unique flavor and texture and they're just wonderful but
05:36you can only get them at this time of the year unfortunately but they are lovely with a wee bit
05:40of parsley and butter and this is what i had so this is steak strips red onion there's brown rice
05:46in there
05:46and broccoli soy sauce garlic chili and this kind of thing i just love and it's like a bit of
05:52a stir fry
05:53but ever so tasty and that's what i would have typically on a day where he is having a pie
05:59or
05:59something and then moving on to yesterday i made ravioli and you will have seen this if you watched
06:05my wee shopping and bagging the other day this was the cheese and truffle stuffed ravioli which was
06:13beautiful with a tomato or it's a mascarpone and tomato sauce which goes really nice you know with
06:21the ravioli so it's lovely and saucy and i added some extra parmesan some baby tomatoes some garlic
06:28and salt and pepper and parsley as well just a lovely plate full we also had some flatbread just to
06:35mop up
06:35the extra sauce that was in there and then moving on to today i made fish pie and i usually
06:41do fish pie
06:42with mashed potato on the top this one was done with puff pastry just for a change and i had
06:48some
06:48extra long broccoli or tender stem broccoli that i had to use up so i had that with some mashed
06:54potato
06:55on the side as well not too much mashed potato because it's been a really hot day too hot for
07:00this really
07:01but yeah tasty anyway so that's everything that we had this week so thank you so much for watching
