A comforting week of UK family dinners with proper home-cooked favourites, from roast chicken with sausage and sage stuffing to mince and tatties, chicken vindaloo, wagyu burgers, smoked haddock fish cakes, mince with puff pastry topping, and a huge chicken and leek pie. There’s a nice mix of classic Scottish meals and a few shop-bought finds, all served with sides like boiled potatoes, cabbage, chips, peas, coleslaw, and creamy mash.

The week starts with roast chicken, boiled potatoes, and buttery cabbage, then moves into loaded fries with thinly sliced shawarma-style meat, tomatoes, onions, and chilli sauce. Midweek brings a rich chicken vindaloo with brown rice, followed by a wagyu burger in brioche with chips and salad. Later on, there are smoked haddock fish cakes with parsley sauce, a classic mince dinner, and a chicken and leek pie that tastes just like a homemade family tea.

00:06hello there folks and happy sunday to you it's lovely to see you again as usual and i hope that
00:12i find you very well so thanks for coming over for my favorite time of the week on the channel
00:18and it's our family meals of the week i've been doing these for about 10 years now which is crazy
00:24but yeah you're still coming back and still watching them so i'll always do these i just
00:28love doing them so on monday as you can see we had chicken so this was just a roast chicken
00:35and
00:36inside the chicken there was sausage meat and sage stuffing as well so i just popped that
00:41on the top so i just got some plain boiled potatoes i haven't had these for ages just plain
00:47boiled potatoes with some steamed cabbage with butter and white pepper that's a chicken breast
00:53i've removed the skin from the chicken and that's that sausage meat and sage stuffing and then just
00:59some chicken gravy over the top and it does look off a beige but let me tell you lovely flavors
01:06in there
01:06i just love the chicken gravy with the chicken and those tatties and then moving on to tuesday one a
01:13bit different for us really fancied loaded fries i seen somebody else with loaded fries but it was
01:20more like a minced beef chili loaded fries but i had this in the freezer from my protein and it's
01:27they're sort of very thin donor meat yeah it's just lovely with chips so we've got some skinny fries
01:33in the bottom that's that very thinly sliced donor meat from my protein and then on top of that i've
01:40got
01:41some sliced tomatoes some sliced onions and just some tomato and chili sauce on the top and you could
01:47add things like grated cheese if you wanted you could really add anything to this but yeah that
01:53was just lovely and like i said a wee bit different to what we would normally have and then moving
01:59on to
02:00wednesday i made a chicken vindaloo and you will have seen this cooking sauce if you watch my food shopping
02:07and bagging from waitrose this was the jimkana vindaloo you know cooking sauce and it was so nice
02:15so we've got some brown rice on the side and that's that lovely chicken vindaloo i did end up adding
02:23cooked onions to this just to give it more of a texture change it was quite a thick curry though
02:29so
02:29i think if i made this again i would add a wee bit more water but the sauce had bags
02:34of flavor and
02:36although it calls itself a vindaloo it wasn't that spicy i would say it's more like a madras but full
02:42of
02:42flavor i would definitely get that again and then moving on to thursday we had burgers and again if
02:49you watch my food shopping and bagging from waitrose you will have seen these wagyu beef burgers and these
02:57were also really nice you know really impressed by the quality of the things that we picked up in
03:03waitrose so we've got a lightly toasted brioche bun and then some grated cheese that's that lovely
03:10wagyu burger we've just got some tomatoes on the top i didn't want to add too much to this burger
03:17because i really did want to you know taste that burger just to you know see what it was like
03:23and
03:23like i said it was lovely and we've got some chips at the back some cheesy coleslaw and then just
03:29some
03:29lettuce tomato olive oil and some grated cheese on the top just to melt into those chips and go lovely
03:36and gooey and then moving on to friday we had fish cakes i actually bought a second pack of fish
03:43cakes
03:43from sainsbury's i had the salmon ones but these were mr what's for t's fish cakes so he's got some
03:50creamy mashed potato in the bottom just with a wee bit of milk and butter in there these are melt
03:56in the
03:57middle smoked haddock fish cakes and then just some sweet corn with butter on the side and then a very
04:04quick and easy parsley sauce just for over the top and then finished off with some parsley as well and
04:11this is lovely just a nice combination of things and just works so well together and then moving on
04:17to yesterday we had mince and i do have a video recipe for mince i will leave down below and
04:24the
04:25roast potatoes i do have a video for the roast potatoes because i get asked for it all the time
04:30which i will also leave down below so we've got those roast potatoes these have been parboiled and
04:36finished off in the air fryer and just a touch of olive oil you don't want to use too much
04:41oil in your
04:42air fryer or it could go smoking everywhere so just a touch and then some mashed swede and that's that
04:48lovely minced beef onion carrots and gravy with some puff pastry on the top one of our absolute favorites
04:56and a scottish classic and then moving on to today we had chicken pie again if you watch my waitrose
05:03unboxing or unbagging the other day yesterday you will have seen this chicken pie this was the chicken
05:10and leek pie from waitrose and let me tell you this was fabulous it tasted just like a homemade
05:17chicken and leek pie well worth the money and it definitely worth the money when it's on offer i only
05:24paid four pounds for this and it was massive and we've got some chips and peas on the side and
05:30there's
05:30loads of lovely creamy gravy in that pie as well so we didn't have any additional gravy but yeah
05:37if you're near a waitrose and you do like a chicken pie have a look for that one because yeah
05:42i don't
