00:05hello there folks and happy sunday to you it's lovely to see you again and i hope that i find
00:11you very well indeed and it's sunday so it's our family meals of the week video a big favorite
00:17with a lot of you and my favorite video of the week even after nine or ten years of doing
00:22this
00:22on youtube i still get really excited for these videos i love meals of the week so we'll just
00:28start on monday through till today which is sunday and can you believe it next week we're going to be
00:34into october where is the year gone but anyway let me show you what we had this week and as
00:39usual
00:40any recipes that feature in this week's meals of the week i will pop in the comments section
00:45down below so i'm going to call this the pasta and pie week because there's been loads of pies and
00:51loads of pasta but on monday we had bolognese and i was going to use spaghetti but i've got loads
00:57of
00:58penny pasta there so before i open the spaghetti i'm going to use up the penny pasta and then get
01:03the spaghetti opened so i've got some cheesy garlic bread on the side that's just some plain boiled
01:09penny pasta and then on top of that i've got some lovely beef bolognese and there's carrots and onions
01:15and mushrooms and tomatoes and there as well that was lovely i haven't had you know bolognese this way
01:22for a wee while and it's nice just for a texture change to have the penny penny's my favorite kind
01:27of pasta anyway with a wee bit of cheese on the top then moving on to tuesday we had chicken
01:34and rice
01:35or is it a curry we're going to call it chicken and rice with curry sauce on the top i
01:39just wanted to
01:40do a curry but do it slightly differently so i would generally use brown rice or plain white
01:46basmati rice but i had some of this vegetable rice in the cupboard that i've just used instead
01:52so it's the basmati rice just the same but there's peppers and sweet corn and things through it as well
01:59and i've sliced up a chicken breast and i've got some spicy curry sauce over the top with some onions
02:05added into it as well and sometimes i add peas to my curry sauce but because there's peas in the
02:11rice
02:11already i didn't bother and this was lovely nice for a wee change and ever so quick to put together
02:19and then moving on to wednesday we had scotch pies we weren't in the mood for you know chips or
02:25potatoes
02:26or anything these are quite small these scotch pies so there's two of these and about a can of beans
02:33about a can of beans on the top so these are scotch pies like i said so it's just a
02:38combination of
02:39mince beef and pork traditionally these would be made with either mutton mince or lamb mince but
02:45these are just pork and beef and the pastry is just a very easy hot water pastry and i do
02:50have
02:51a video recipe for these wee scotch pies i will leave down below they're ever so easy to make
02:57and very traditionally scottish as well and then moving on to thursday it's another pie like i said
03:03it was just it's just one of the weeks it's just lots of pies lots of pasta but tonight or
03:08on this
03:09night it was a cheese and onion and potato pie and that's just short crust pastry on the bottom puff
03:15pastry on the top so we've got a wee mccain jacket potato with some butter inside let the butter melt
03:22down i'm going to add the cheese onion and potato pie and then back back with the baked beans has
03:30been a
03:30very musical house this week so yeah more baked beans which i say every week but you know baked
03:37beans and pastry and potato just go really well together and it's a lovely comforting warming kind
03:44of meal especially on a chilly rainy night just perfect and then moving on to friday we had fish
03:51and chips one of our favorites you know whether it's from the fish and chip shop or if we're out
03:56somewhere or even in the house you know we just love the fish the chips and the peas sometimes salad
04:02but on this night we had the peas and a wee bit of coleslaw on the side as well and
04:07we also like a
04:08wee wedge of lemon it's just nice instead of vinegar i like vinegar mr what's for tea is not the
04:14biggest fan
04:14of vinegar in fact he hates vinegar so he likes the lemon so we've got some chips on the bottom
04:19some
04:20creamy coleslaw at the back that's that fish fillet and tempura batter we've got some garden peas some
04:27parsley on the top of course for a bit of color and then just a couple of lemon wedges as
04:34well is this
04:35popular in any other parts of the world or is it more of a british thing i think this is
04:40probably more
04:40of a british thing not you know not exclusively scottish but i think fish and chips is very much
04:46a british thing and then moving on to yesterday we had spaghetti so i got the spaghetti out so the
04:53penny pasta is now gone which i'll need to put on the shopping list for next week so i used
04:58up the
04:59spaghetti and this is a just a lovely chili cheese tomato onion garlic sort of combo sauce and then i
05:06just tossed the spaghetti through the sauce which was lovely this spaghetti is so nice this is the thicker
05:13spaghetti from sainsbury's i'll put it on the screen it is so so nice we've got some cheese on the
05:20top
05:20and just a couple of slices of standard garlic bread as well which goes lovely with any kind of saucy
05:27pasta and then moving on to today the last of the pies so this was a mince pie or known
05:34in this country
05:35as a mince round just because it's round so it's mince beef onion and gravy and a pie so this
05:42is just
05:43puff pastry and we've got some potato croquettes at the side just for a change from my usual mashed
05:49potato or even chips is lovely with us as well and i do have a video recipe for this mince
05:55round
05:56if you want to watch it i will pop it down below in the comments section again just something very
06:02traditionally scottish very easy to make as well or those potato croquettes on the side which i've now
06:09used up and we had some swede as well just on the side of that and i made the swede
06:15in the microwave
06:16somebody recommended instead of boiling your swede just do it for about eight minutes each side
06:21and the microwave you know cut the top off and it will be beautifully soft now i had quite a
06:27large
06:27swede so mine wasn't as you know soft as i think it should have been but it was ever so
06:33easy i'll just
06:34remember the next time i do if i do it this way next time to leave it in for a
06:39wee bit longer because
06:40it was lovely and soft at the top but it was still quite hard in the bottom but yeah great
06:45way of doing
06:45the swede if you've never tried it try it in the microwave and just uh yeah let me know how
06:50you got
06:51on with it so thank you so much for watching a huge thank you as usual to the supporters of
06:56the
06:56channel over on my patreon page if you've bought me a coffee left me a super thanks donation shared
07:02liked or hyped the video you know thank you all so much and i'll catch up with you during the
07:07week
