00:08Iran announced a new restricted zone extended into the Gulf of Oman amid the ongoing regional
00:14conflict. An overnight Israeli attack on a residential area of Kafar Oman killed at least
00:2311 people including a two-month-old baby. Nepal declares the National Day of Mourning this
00:33Monday for the victims of the flash floods caused 13 days ago by a glacier collapse in the Himalayas.
00:46Hello, welcome to Front the South. I am Lorena Fogg from the Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:51We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:13Iranian authorities refer on the closure of the Strait of Hormuz while announcing a new restricted
01:17zone extended into the Gulf of Oman. Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen
01:23Rezaei said that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, rejecting repeated claims by US President Donald
01:29Trump. Rezaei also revealed that Iran intends to announce a new restricted zone outside the Strait
01:34of Hormuz in the coming days. The official said that the zone would begin from the line of the
01:39United States naval blockade and extend into parts of the Gulf, warning that any vessel entering the
01:45designated area would be placed on Iran's sanctioned list. His father stressed that Iran would only
01:51commit to keeping the Strait of Hormuz open once Washington ends its threats and military aggression
01:56against the Islamic Republic.
02:11God willing, in the coming days and weeks, we will announce a restricted exclusion zone outside the
02:16Strait of Hormuz. It will begin from the line of the US naval blockade, extend toward the Strait of Hormuz,
02:25and from this side continue into the Persian Gulf. What is this area? We will declare it a prohibited zone,
02:36meaning any ship that enters this area with the intention of passing through the Strait of Hormuz and
02:39is identified will be placed on our sanctions list. The Strait of Hormuz is completely closed.
02:50Look, this is a big lie. Why? Because before the Strait of Hormuz was closed and even before these wars,
02:57more than a hundred ships passed through here every day. More than a hundred million-plus tons
03:02of goods were shipped out through this area. Billions of dollars worth of goods passed through the
03:08Strait of Hormuz. Today, at most seven or eight ships pass through the Strait of Hormuz each day,
03:14and most of them are carrying food and essential goods that we ourselves are importing.
03:21Every day we are selling one million, one and a half million barrels,
03:25as if Iran's oil production and trade are continuing as usual.
03:29In this context, the Iranian official also announced an agreement with Oman for a new
03:34marating corridor in the Strait of Hormuz.
03:39We have designated a corridor within our own waters and the waters we share along the maritime
03:46boundary with Oman for entry into and exit from the Persian Gulf. And our management of this entry
03:55and exit remains in place, both for entry and for exit. Of course, the Amanis are also involved on
04:05the outbound route, but we are present in both entry and exit. Our role has now been defined,
04:11and an agreement has been reached on it. It should be signed in the coming days. So, in the days
04:16ahead,
04:16this new international corridor, in which Iran has a management role, well, itself, also serve as a guarantee.
04:24Another nine Israeli attack on a residential area of Kavar Raman killed at least 11 people,
04:30including a two-month-old baby. According to Lebanon's national news agency, a Zionist strike on a
04:35three-story residential building in the southern town left nine people dead and five wounded. In the same
04:42town, two paramedics from the Islamic Scout Association were also killed in an Israeli drone attack on a civilian
04:48vehicle. Civil defense workers have been working throughout the night after the strike, saying
04:53that it is no longer a rescue operation, it is a recovery operation, with two more bodies believed
04:59to be buried under the rubble. This comes to meet a wave of Israeli attacks that over the past 48
05:04hours
05:04has killed civilians and destroyed residential homes.
05:14The Palestinian football has returned after nearly three years of suspension due to the war in Gaza,
05:20with club competitions resuming across the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. But a term
05:25comes as Israel's genocide in Gaza has devastated the Palestinian sports community. Around 565 members of the
05:33Palestinian Football Association have been killed, while more than 1,000 people across the Palestinian
05:38sports community have lost their lives. Israel has also destroyed more than 50 of Gaza's 56 sports clubs
05:46and 285 sport facilities, leaving few places for athletes to train or compete. At Faisal Husseini
05:53International Stadium in the West Bank, players return to the field despite the difficult conditions
05:58facing Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, where Israel continues to carry out attacks despite the ceasefire.
06:11It will not be easy for the sporting community to forget this painful loss.
06:17But sport must continue, and we honor their memory by keeping sporting activities going.
06:26It is a welcome moment for Palestinian fans as matches have begun and sporting activities have resumed,
06:31despite the difficult conditions Palestinians are facing, especially in Gaza. Life is beginning
06:36to resume through sport, which provides an outlet for Palestinians and embodies their national unity.
06:47Palestinian clubs insisted on playing simultaneously in Gaza, the West Bank, here at Al-Ram Stadium in Jerusalem,
06:54and also in Lebanon. This is a message to the world that the Palestinian people remain committed to
07:04their unity and their right to life. Anti-war activists rallied outside the United States
07:13Embassy in Seoul to protest five days during the military drills launched by the U.S., South Korea
07:18and Japan. The Freedom Edge exercise of Jeju Island deploys key maritime and aerial assets. Protesters argue
07:26the maneuvers heightened regional tensions, accusing the alliance of using regional threats as a pretext
07:31to build a coalition containing China. The trilateral drills follow the early conclusion of the U.S.
07:38Freedom Shield exercise after U.S. President Donald Trump ordered a reduction in joint military maneuvers.
07:50The United States celebrates National Labor Day with various protests in support of labor
07:55rights across the country. The day is intended to honor the contributions of the workforce to the
08:01country's development. As it is a federal holiday observed in all 50 states and the District of
08:06Columbia. Government agencies, banks and the U.S. Postal Service suspended their regular operations.
08:13The observance originated in the late 19th century as a result of workers' protests demanding better wages
08:19and in our workday and safe working conditions.
08:30And now we have a short break coming up but first remember you can join us on TikTok at

08:40We'll be right back, stay with us.
09:05Welcome back to From the South, an Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 overrun the runway at Miami
09:11International Airport, killing at least five people and injuring five others. The cargo flight
09:16arriving from San Juan barreled off the runway around 2 p.m., striking several vehicles and
09:22bursting into flames along an adjacent runway. Federal authorities issued an immediate ground
09:27stop closing all runways and causing over 250 flight delays across the airport network.
09:35Authorities have launched a full investigation while Amazon confirmed the aircraft's identity and
09:40offered condolences to victims and families.
09:47What we found was a very complex situation here. As you may have seen or may have heard,
09:54the airplane did strike a couple of vehicles that required a couple of victims that were actually
09:59trapped in the vehicles. So a complex extrication with our technical rescue teams started to occur.
10:04In addition to that, we had a very complex fire engine compartments that were on fire,
10:11including a search and rescue of the pilot and co-pilot that were trapped in this aircraft.
10:16And in India, six people have died after an old building collapsed in New Delhi as rescue and
10:22debris cleaning operations continue. The five-story building, which housed the Boes hostel, collapsed on
10:28Sunday in Satya Nikitan, a densely populated neighborhood known for its private students'
10:34accommodations near a Delhi University campus. Police, firefighters and crews from India's disaster
10:39response agency continued their search for the second day as machinery cleared debris and sniper
10:45dogs worked to help find those trapped under the rubble. Buildings collapsed as a recurring hazard in parts
10:51of India during the June to September monsoon where heavy or prolonged rain can weaken aging structures.
10:58For her part, Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister of New Delhi, provided an update on the situation.
11:08Eighty percent of the debris has been removed. Only basement level debris remains.
11:14It has been confirmed that there was water in the basement going on. And for that reason,
11:21this old building collapsed. Until now, out of the 12 people, six are dead and six are in a better
11:29condition. We are in touch with the parents of injured students. We are making sure they are getting
11:37good medical care and they don't face any problems. The authorities declared two days of national
11:46mourning after a bus crash on Fogo Island killed 25 people, mostly children, and injured 14 others.
11:53The West African country's President Jose Maria Neves joined the mass on Sunday at a local church on
11:58the island of Fogo where 18 coffins were on display. Meanwhile, another 12 people were still being treated
12:05in hospital on Sunday, including two in serious conditions. Officials announced the bus veered off
12:11the road and plunged into a deep ravine late on Saturday, following an excursion to a village inside
12:16a volcanic crater, causing like this the accident. Prime Minister Francisco Carvalho told public
12:23television stations he had ordered two days of mourning and promised that further measures will be taken.
12:44Nepal declares a national day of mourning this Monday for the victims of the flash floods caused 13
12:50days ago by a glacier collapse in the Himalayas. The flash floods that occur on the border between Nepal
12:55and the Chinese region of Tibet has resulted in a preliminary toll of 1,355 deaths and more than 4
13:03,900
13:03missing. In response to the tragedy, the Nepalese government ordered that the national
13:08flood be flown at half-staffed at all official institutions and diplomatic missions abroad.
13:15For this part, on the Chinese side, the flood caused 43 deaths and 519 people missing.
13:26In Russia, an avalanche left 11 climbers dead and six injured in the North Caucasus.
13:31According to local emergency services, the avalanche swept down Mount Misigiri on
13:36one of the highest peaks in Russia's North Caucasus at around 5 p.m. local time on Sunday,
13:42hitting a group of 33 members. As of Monday morning, 10 climbers had made their own way
13:48down to the mountain, while the fate of six others remained unknown. In the sense,
13:53the regional emergency stations ministry said 56 rescuers have been deployed to the scene,
13:57but they first were being hampered by difficult terrain and a high risk of other avalanches,
14:03as an MIA helicopter and a commercial helicopter are expected to join the surge when weather conditions improve.
14:16In Venezuela, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology issued alerts due to the passage of
14:22Tropical Wave No. 45. This phenomenon combined with the moist winds crossing the country causing rainfall
14:28or very fine intensity across much of Venezuela. Official authorities reported that special attention is
14:34being paid to Western states such as Apure, Marinas, Mérida and Táxira, where thunderstorms and gusty winds are being recorded.
14:41For the afternoon and evening, increased cloud cover in forecast for Guyanesequiva,
14:46the Andes region and Zulia. Meanwhile, the public is urged to take precautions.

15:38Hello, welcome to From the South. In Guatemala, the 48 cantones of Totoniquepan
15:43announced a series of protests against the rise in fuel prices in the country. The organization
15:48stated that the demonstrations are not only a response to the rise in fuel prices,
15:52but also to the general increase in the cost of basic goods. Furthermore, the community
15:57organization condemned the Guatemalan police's repressive actions in an attempt to disperse
16:02their mobilizations. Pressure on the executive branch in Congress is intensifying as transportation
16:07workers prepare new protests in the absence of agreements and the government subsidy.
16:17In Mexico, at least 10 people died and 64 were injured following a fireworks explosion at a church.
16:24The fireworks incident occurred during the Petron Saint festivities in the community of Santa Maria de
16:29Cancesta, causing part of the church to collapse. Civil protection authorities in the state of Mexico
16:35reported that such operations are continuing after the explosion left the people trapped among the rubble.
16:40Meanwhile, the injured have been transported to nearby hospitals to receive medical care.
16:52About 30 homes were completely destroyed following a fire in the verde community located in the Parque
16:58Novo Mundo neighborhood in northern Sao Paulo in southeastern Brazil. The incident required 10 fire
17:04trucks to be deployed to bring the flames under control. Authorities reported that the fire caused no
17:10fatalities or injuries and the area was declared safe after the fire was brought under control.
17:16That said, the causes of the fire remains unknown, so authorities are continuing their investigation
17:22to clarify the circumstances.
17:32Venezuela and India signed agreements to modernize SOS, building the country's first wildlife hospital
17:37and moves to conservation with tech and training in a diplomatic South-South cooperation milestone.
17:44Venezuela and India signed the memorandum to modernize the country's network of 16 SOS and rescue centers,
17:50focusing on conservation, education and research. The deal includes building Venezuela's first wildlife
17:56hospital equipped by India with cutting-edge technology, labs and training classrooms.
18:03It also ambitions bioparks in Greater Caracas and La Guayra donation of veterinary ambulances and staff
18:09training. This strategic alliance rescues emblematic spaces, raises international warfare standards
18:15and strengthen South-to-South cooperation while recovering national memory and identity.
18:27I would like to announce that part of the agreement involves incorporating the master plan for the
18:33recovery of La Guayra State, an aquarium, a wildlife conservation center, a veterinary center,
18:44and a wildlife hospital as well.
18:52We want to do our very best for La Guayra, to restore it for its people and for the people
18:57of Venezuela.
18:58And I say that there is no more extraordinary step than an agreement that provides for technical
19:03assistance for the preservation, conservation, rehabilitation of wildlife.
19:10And that also envisages the recovery of the country's zoos, starting with the Pinar Zoo and the Caracau Zoo,
19:21so that they may receive technical assistance and so that our professionals, who care for wild animals,
19:28may also attend courses in India, receive technical support, education, and training for the work that will be done in
19:36Venezuela.
19:37This agreement is very important.
19:40In other topics, the Food Price Index of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
19:46FAO recorded a year-over-year increase of 2.5 percent well above the zero poxines
19:52percent recorded in July 2025. This was driven by extreme drought in Europe and rising fertilizer prices
20:00due to the aggression by Tel Aviv and Washington in the Middle East. As a result, sugar prices rose 11
20:06.9 percent
20:07and wheat skyrocketed by 15 percent, while corn prices remained stable but with lower yields forecast
20:14in the United States and Europe due to the cost of inputs and the White House's blockades in the Strait
20:19of Hormuz.
20:20Prices for rice, vegetable oils, and poultry has also aroused. The United Nations Food Agency warned that
20:28the convergence of climate to political and logistical crisis is reducing supplied forecasts
20:34and will keep pressure on the costs of basic food items in the coming months.
20:56In the Netherlands, thousands gather in sand dirt for the world's largest dahlia flower parade,
21:02an amazing historic community tradition. Established in 1936, the annual sand dirt parade features giant
21:08artistic floats constructed entirely by volunteer workers from local neighborhoods. Using millions of
21:15pond-grown dahlias, 20 hamlets compete in a display of collective craftsmanship and intergenerational unity.
21:23Recognized by UNESCO as living in tangible cultural heritage, the event highlights how communities'
21:30organization and popular tradition preserve cultural identity.
21:37UNESCO as living in the world's largest dahlia flower parade.
21:38So we have around 400 000 dahlias on the float, almost half a million. And we are with 20 hamlets,
21:47so competing for the first prize. And because it are like 20 floats of this
21:55hugeness of this size. The flower parade of Sunderd is also the biggest dahlia flower parade of the world.
22:03Yeah, like a lot of tourists, a lot of people like out of the whole world and
22:11yeah, it's really big. It's like the pride of Brabant.
22:16And like this, we have come to the end of this since brief. Remember, you can find this and many
