00:07Glad you stayed with us.
00:09We kick off with the CONCACAF Caribbean Cup
00:12where debutants club Sando are just one point away from advancing from Group A.
00:17They will face Dominican Republic side Delfine del Este tomorrow
00:21at the Hesley Crawford Stadium from 7 p.m.
00:24Having won both of their matches and currently joint group leaders,
00:27Coach Angus Eve is adamant they will continue to play their brand of football.
00:32We've been playing very open football.
00:35If you look in the league, we scored a lot of goals in the league coming into here
00:39and we're still playing in that way.
00:42We have some very exciting players on the flanks, good players in midfield, good possession.
00:48Our wingbacks go forward on a regular basis.
00:51One of our wingbacks scored in the last game.
00:54We're going to continue the way we're playing.
00:56That's what got us here and we're going to believe in what we are doing.
01:01A point tomorrow for Club Sando would move league champions, defense force closer to elimination.
01:06And considering Club Sando are first-timers to the Caribbean Cup,
01:09Coach Eve touched on their journey and objectives.
01:13We're very privileged to be in this space that we are in right now.
01:17The guys have been working extremely hard.
01:20I think that we prepared well with the lack of resources.
01:23We still prepared really well for the tournament.
01:27And I think we're rewarding the fruits of the labor that we did in the preseason.
01:32We here, as these young men, I'm helping them to develop themselves so that one day they can represent the
01:38country
01:39and probably have an opportunity to get a contract abroad.
01:42And that is the main goal of what this project is about.
01:45The Tobago Football Association's Premier Division kicked off this weekend and with some surprising results.
01:52None more than the defending champions Georgia FC's 3-2 defeat to Sidey's on the league's opening night.
01:59And third-place finisher Signal Hill opened their season with a 3-1 defeat to Leeds United.
02:04While Stokely Bay had little problems dishing out five unanswered goals to Goal City in the Dwight York Stadium doubleheader.
02:12Just on last season's form, Signal Hill were favourites against a Leeds United side that finished in the bottom half
02:18of last season's table.
02:20Leeds looked a bit shaky in the early minutes as Signal Hill pushed forward.
02:25But if anyone was shaky, it was the Signal Hill goalkeeper.
02:28There's a ball in three, yeah.
02:32Oh, and that's going to be the funniest goal you've seen all night.
02:37But Leeds has the opening goal.
02:44Abdallah Osman looked as puzzled as everyone else as if the goal was credited to him.
02:49Osman restored a bit of his reputation when called into action later on.
02:54But his reputation took another dent early in the second half.
03:12Ken Boucher slotted home the second goal for Leeds to rub salt in the wound.
03:16Signal Hill's best chance came later in the half as they struck the upright.
03:26But a poor giveaway at the back was all Boucher needed for Leeds' third.
03:31It's Boucher, Boucher!
03:34And that's goal number three, four.
03:39Leeds United.
03:40Signal Hill pulled one back from the spot, but the damage was long done as Leeds United won their season
03:46opener 3-1.
03:48And the goals flowed early and often in the opening encounter between Stokely Vale and Gold City as LaShawn Roberts
03:55opened his account.
03:58Roberts took advantage of Gold City's high back line to bag his second.
04:02Pass here by Julian all the way to Roberts.
04:05Is LaShawn Roberts going through?
04:06What can LaShawn Roberts do for me?
04:08It's him in the goalkeeper and he makes it goal number two.
04:10And the match was as good as over after 40 minutes.
04:14And he scores it this time.
04:17It's Elche Edwards.
04:19Gold City's defense was on vacation as Tokely Vale took advantage.
04:23That's Williams with a shot.
04:25And that's goal number four.
04:27And they had one more in the chamber as Stokely Vale crushed Gold City 5-0.
04:33Terrence Clark, TV6 Sport.
04:35We make a visit to Bristol where TNT's Rio Cardines also made a brilliant start to life with Bristol City
04:42in the English Championships.
04:44Cardines joined Bristol City on loan from Premiership side Crystal Palace.
04:48And all he has done is provided assist after assist.
04:51In five matches thus far, the 20-year-old has provided four assists, leading to four wins from five matches
04:58this season.
04:59He played a part in Bristol City's late-come-from-behind 2-1 win over Burnley this weekend.
05:04As their two goals came in the final eight minutes plus added on time.
05:08And it was his 82nd-minute assist that started the Bristol City Rally to victory.
05:16Thank you for their third win in a row.
05:18They've got to come from behind to do so here.
05:21Cardines.
05:24It's Dickey with the header.
05:28Eight minutes remaining and Rob Dickey cancels out that Burnley lead.
05:37You can certainly say City have deserved it for the pressure they've been putting on the Burnley goal.
05:43Super header from Dickey moving away from goal.
05:52First goal since November for the centre-half.
05:57Well, he's a wanted man.
05:59TNT's assistant referee Caleb Wales is wanted, but with good reason, as he's been called to officiate in the Far
06:06East.
06:06Following his showing at the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada, Saudi Arabia will be his next
06:13call of duty.
06:14That's after the Saudi Arabian Football Federation requested the services of the top official through the TTFA.
06:21Wales will officiate a Saudi Pro League match between Al-Akli and Al-Qadzia.
06:27That match will be played tomorrow at the Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium with both teams hoping to stay in
06:33close range of the league leaders, Al-Hilal.
06:36Along with the TTFA, we extend the best wishes to Caleb Wales on his opportunity to represent himself and the
06:43country on the international stage.
06:46To Messi with love, tributes were expressed as Argentina clubs are giving honour to Lionel Messi following his retirement from
06:54international football.
06:56The latest display came between a league match between River Plate and Independiente.
07:02The country's most successful club, River Plate, were playing at home in Buenos Aires.
07:06And the game was paused in the tenth minute to honour Messi, who famously wears the number ten shirt.
07:11On River Plate's Thomas Galvan scored a goal that Messi himself would have been pleased with as the team won
07:17the match 3-1.
07:21Trinidadian duo Shastri Ramsanahi and Kozo Martin are set to spearhead their nation's challenge on foreign soil
07:28when the second edition of the Caribbean Boxing Championships arrives at Guyana's Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Saturday, September 12th.
07:36The event is being organised by the Caribbean Boxing Organisation to bolster the sport across the region.
07:42Ramsanahi faces a stern test against the Guyanese rising star Ryan Rogers,
07:47who enters the ring full of confidence after capturing gold at the recent Caribbean School Boys and Juniors Boxing Championships.
07:55Meanwhile, Martin takes on another highly rated Guyanese prospect in Joffi's Jackson,
08:00as both fighters look to gain invaluable exposure on the regional stage.
08:06We head to the Big Apple, where Carlos Alcaraz did not star the U.S. Open as neither the top
08:11seed nor the clear favourite.
08:13But the defending champion is slowly but surely rounding back into form as he advanced to the quarter-finals,
08:20setting up a clash with American Ben Shelton.
08:22Also through are Jessica Pegula and women's top seed Arnia Sabalenka.
08:33There's been plenty of pressure on Carlos Alcaraz since his return to New York.
08:39The Spaniard is still on the road to recovery from an injured wrist that kept him out of competitive tennis
08:45for more than four months.
08:46But playing in only his fourth singles match back, the reigning champion was at his best.
08:57Alcaraz beating American 20th seed Tommy Paul in straight sets to extend his major match-winning streak to 18.
09:05And he stays firmly on track for back-to-back titles at Flushing Meadows.
09:10I think I did pretty well. I just put so much pressure on the return games, which, you know, for
09:15me, it helps a lot to play relaxed,
09:18to play calm, to think clearly. So I just am really, really happy with the performance today.
09:23He'll face Ben Shelton next.
09:29The eighth seed beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets to reach the quarter-finals,
09:35boosting home hopes of a first American men's Grand Slam champion in more than two decades.
09:41Shelton is one of three American men already in the last eight.
09:46Compatriate Jessica Pagula is also through to the quarters, having defeated Serana Carstea of Romania 6-3, 6-4.
09:54The third seed setting up an all-American clash with Emma Navarro.
09:59And Irina Sabalenka remains on track to make it three titles in a row in New York.
10:08The top-ranked women's player in the world found herself tested by the USA's Taylor Townsend,
10:14fighting back from 3-1 down in the second set to seal at 6-4, 6-3, reaching her sixth
10:20straight U.S. Open quarterfinal.
10:22Well, we head over to Monsa, where Italian teenager Kimi Antonelli started 19th on the grid,
10:29but finished first at the Italian Grand Prix, just three seconds faster than Mercedes' teammate George Russell.
10:36Only one driver before him won from further back than the 19th.
10:39It was the seventh win this season for the championship leader.
10:44as he became the first Italian to win at Monsa in 60 years.
10:49Antonelli went from 19th on the grid to clinch victory at the Italian Grand Prix
10:53and extends his lead in the championship standings to 66 points over teammate George Russell.
10:59He finished second.
11:01Red Bull's Max Verstappen completed the podium.
11:04It's a day that I will remember forever, I think.
11:08This is probably the most special win so far.
11:11And I think this is the best podium of the season.
11:16And to see, you know, the full straight, incredibly packed of people.
11:22And to hear the support is, yeah, it's a dream.
11:29You call these screamers, and it's a double treat.
11:32It's our play of the day.
11:36Homeside Everton had a reasonable day against Manchester United in Sunday's EPL.
11:40In the first instance, Tariq George from an acute angle fired home the equaliser into the roof of the net.
11:45Tariq George opens his account, and how?
11:48Then in stoppage time, Ainsley Maitland-Niles helped his team restore parity one more time.
11:54And that too with a firecracker of a shot.
12:00Here are different angles of that shot which found the back of the net.
12:04Cometh the hour, cometh the man.
12:06Ainsley Maitland-Niles on his Toffees debut was brilliant.
12:13For that equalising goal, which saw the game ending 2-all, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, with that screamer, fires his way
12:20into tonight's TV6 play of the day.
12:25Excellent goal.
12:26Stick around, we have more after this.
