PCHR’s Oral Intervention at HRC59 Calls for Accountability of Corporations Complicit in Israel’s Crimes in Gaza

In our intervention, we welcomed the SR’s new report exposing the complicity of more than 60 corporations in Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians and called for immediate accountability by opening criminal investigations for their unlawful activities. PCHR also called for an immediate arms embargo and sanctions on Israel as well as an immediate update of the @unhumanrightsopt database to include the newly listed companies, including those involved in the Gaza genocide.#HRC59 #GazaGenocide #CeasefireNow

00:07Madame Special Rapporteur, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, PCHR,

00:12welcomes and commends your important report exposing the complicity of more than 60 cooperations

00:18in Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people.

00:22The report presents a timely and urgent call for accountability at a time

00:26when Palestinians are enduring mass killing, starvation, displacement, and destruction.

00:32These cooperations have enabled and profited from Israel's prolonged illegal occupation,

00:38illegal settlements expansion, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and must be held accountable.

00:44However, as stated in the report, the responsibility does not lie with cooperations alone.

00:50States have the primary role of ensuring that corporate entities

00:54do not violate international law and respect human rights.

00:59PCHR calls on states to initiate criminal investigations

01:02into the cooperations listed in the report for their complicity in human rights violations

01:08and international crimes, impose an immediate arms embargo,

01:12and halt all trade and financial relations that contribute to maintaining Israel's settler colonial regime.

01:20PCHR also calls on the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights

01:23to immediately update the UN database

01:26and include the newly listed companies in the SR's report,

01:30including those involved in the Gaza genocide.
