00:00We meet here on the cusp of the new Senedd, term two, and the beginning of the next exciting phase
00:05of this new Welsh Government.
00:09But before I look forward, let me just look back at what has been something of an extraordinary summer with
00:17the wildfires bringing devastation to many of our communities.
00:20And I'd like to begin by thanking all agencies, the Fire and Rescue Services and the Armed Forces in particular
00:27for their tireless efforts in protecting people and property.
00:32In terms of making sure our services are equipped to deal with wildfires in the longer term, I'm pleased to
00:38confirm this morning that the summit I have promised to convene to focus on how we prepare for and prevent
00:44wildfires alongside wider resilience issues in future
00:48will happen on the 22nd of October. We are determined to do all that we can to continue to support
00:56all our partners who are engaged in preventing and responding to wildfires.
01:01And that is exactly what we will do. And let me be as clear as I can. We have seen
01:08that the climate emergency isn't some distant threats,
01:13but a reality right now here in Wales, as it is across the rest of the world. And I'll be
01:19saying more about resilience when the Senedd returns.
01:22But I want to reflect now on the successful completion of the first 100 days plan and the publication of
01:31our progress reports.
01:34In our first 100 days, we hit the ground running, delivering a strong start and taking action on the issues
01:41that really matter, I think, to the people.
01:43of Wales. We are investing £100 million to bring down waiting lists, £25 million to develop new elected care herbs,
01:52£20 million to address essential maintenance across the NHS estates.
01:57We have made strong progress on rolling out the most generous funded childcare offer anywhere in the UK.
02:05From this month, eligibility for preschool meals is being expanded to include learners in years seven and eight.
02:12And the teacher training incentive is now £5,000 more generous for shortage subjects.
02:17We have agreed on £1 billion package of funding for the agriculture sector over the next three years, giving farmers
02:23certainty against the continuing backdrop of global volatility and extreme weather.
02:31We're launching a new Tithe Cymru coach service to transform North South Wales travel, which will operate from next month.
02:40Those aren't plans. Those aren't strategies. They are actions and measures which will make a tangible difference to the lives
02:47of the people we've served.
02:48The next step is to build on that progress. Our focus now is on turning early action into lasting results.
