North East skills programme launches with two hundred and fifty million pounds investment

A major new adult training programme has launched across the North East, targeting skills for construction, technology, manufacturing and green jobs. The scheme is also intended to help people move into roles across health, care and logistics.

00:24is part of the Mayor's New Deal for North East workers, with investment of more than £80

00:29million a year. The North East Mayoral Strategic Authority says the programme was developed with

00:35colleges, training providers, councils and employers. It aims to tackle skills shortages

00:42and improve employment chances.
