12:28Good morning my friends.
12:30It's now the next day after the last segment we watched.
12:35And I'm coming down to the lake again to see if I can find some more beaches to film and
12:41photograph.
12:44So, I think the first stop will be down by the lake itself.
12:49along the embankment where I know there are some nesting spots.
12:56And to see if I can get any more footage of that pair bonding behaviour.
13:06So, I shall catch up to you as soon as I arrive there.

13:13Okay, so I'm down by one of the trees along the embankment where there seems to be a few of
13:21the bee eaters.
13:22There's a couple of pairs that seem to come back and forth.
13:27And I got a little bit more footage of,
13:31I think it was a butterfly the male came back with and fed to the female.
13:38But again, footage not photos, so I'm still looking for the photo of that.
13:48Whilst it works with the video for this tree, for the photo it's a little bit messy.
13:59Okay, so it's just a female on her own at the minute.
14:02So the male's away hunting.
14:12Okay, so I'm back in the meadow.
14:15And I've actually driven down into the meadow this time.
14:20And I've sort of driven into a ditch which has brought me lower to the ground.
14:25So I'm pretty much level with this bush that a couple of the bee eaters have been flying to and
14:33from.
14:34And at the moment I think I have the female waiting, sitting on the bush.
14:39And she's waiting, I think, for her mate to come along maybe with a snack.
14:46So she's looking about.
14:50He did come in briefly and then flew off.
14:53I didn't see an exchange of food.
14:57So I'm assuming that's the way it is.
15:00That that's the female and the male has flown off looking for something to offer to his mate.
15:08We shall see.
15:11Okay, so there's a wee bit of action there.
15:14After they both flew off, another one came back and I thought it was the female.
15:20Because she was sitting on exactly the same perch.
15:23And it looked like she was waiting for her mate to come back.
15:27And it turns out she was an imposter.
15:30And the couple whose bush that belongs to came back and he frightened her off.
15:42And then the other mate came in and they had a bit of a cuddle on the bush there.
15:47Like my hero scaring off the competition.
15:53It was lovely.
15:57I got it on film.
15:59Hopefully it's all sharp.
16:00I'm just praying to God it's all sharp.
16:04And I got some nice images on the sim stills as well.
16:08But I still haven't got the feeding shot that I want as a still.
16:13So I'm just waiting to see if I might be able to get that.
16:20Okay, so it's been a little while since they flew off.
16:24And they haven't returned in the last half an hour or so.
16:30And I've suddenly become conscious.
16:33I've totally forgotten I got carried away here.
16:37That I want to edit this video today and upload it this evening for you.
16:45So with that time pressure in mind I'm going to call it quits here for the moment.

16:55I didn't get the still image that I was after in the end I don't think.
16:59Other than the one I did yesterday that I wasn't entirely happy with.
17:05But I did get some lovely footage.
17:07And I did get some lovely shots as well of the male flying in.
17:12But he didn't have a bug in his mouth.
17:15And there was no feeding.
17:17But it's a lovely set of three, four pictures.
17:20As he flew in to the female.
17:26So yeah, I'm going to call it there.

17:46Looks like it's the female.
17:48Oh no, and it's the imposter again.
17:51Just been scared off by the resident female.
17:55What it is I think is there's a nest on the other side as well.
17:59There's a pair nesting on the other side of the bush.
18:03And she's flown off as well.
18:08And both pairs want that bush as a perch looking over their nest.
18:14So I think they're squabbling over it for that reason.
18:17But the pair that I started filming, it looks like they're the dominant ones.
18:25So yeah, anyway.
