00:05months ago and I think the one that we are very pleased with we'll start on the positive side of
00:10these picks was the Jackson Koivin pick by Brant Snedeker I think he was somewhere in the 40s 48
00:16or something like that on the points list just turned pro mid to the latter half of the season
00:22won the 3m of course and finds his way onto this team and so I think that's probably the best
00:28place
00:28to start is yeah it just reacts to this pick you know what you're hearing from other players and
00:34the excitement around having Jackson Koivin at Medina it's pretty cool right I think getting a
00:40really young player in the fold for team USA is is a great thing I think most people are excited
00:46about this the people that are saying dude Jackson Koivin like he's way too far down the points
00:52yeah he's hasn't done enough he only made it to the playoffs uh being the FedEx St. Jude didn't
01:00make it to the final ones I personally thought he needed to keep playing to keep uh the momentum
01:05for his name to get potentially get a pick but it turned out it didn't even matter which was just
01:10amazing I love that Sned's like no we're good we've seen enough in your eight starts on the PGA Tour
01:15however many it's been I love it I thought uh Jackson Koivin could be just that young American that could
01:22uh
01:22you know I think I sent this out on our socials that just reminds me of Jordan Spieth when he
01:27was
01:2820 years old and picked by Steve Stricker uh I'm not sure if the sample size was quite as similar
01:34I
01:34think probably Jackson Koivin had played last on the PGA Tour but Jordan Spieth uh and we saw what he
01:40did
01:40that President's Cup which was a a decent week but more so the fact that what what he spoke about
01:45and how that week really just being around the best players in the world and seeing how they operate
01:53and having the trust and and also their support I think went a long way for not only that week
01:59but
01:59then in future future years in which he had those breakout years right just love hearing that there's
02:05another guy out there using the data gut model uh rants that are saying to Todd Lewis on the on
02:10the
02:10the the captain's pick special they had on golf channel I had a gut feeling about this guy and I
02:16the only complaints you're going to hear from me on this roster construction is I wish we would have
02:19gone further in the direction that that they went with that Jackson Koivin pick and we'll get to some
02:24of the guys that were snubbed here and a little bit but I think and you know however much you
02:30want to
02:30share about this conversation but hearing from you about how excited Justin Thomas was to have Jackson
02:36on this team this is the whole reason why you do this because you have a guy who has a
02:42relationship
02:42with Jackson who's probably played some practice rounds with him on tour who was looking forward to
02:47spending this week with him and and probably teaching him things helping him understand the game
02:52helping him through high pressure competitive formats that not to say Jackson hasn't been there
02:56before but not at this level Jackson's going to pick up a lot here and that could have a huge
03:01impact
03:01on his career on the potential that maybe he's on the team next year at a dare manner so this
03:06is this
03:06is exactly why you do something like this instead of reverting back to what has been called fairly or
03:13unfairly the past couple years the old boys club model so I that's why I think this is fantastic I

03:18you should run through those uh picks for the American side just for those people who uh are late to
03:24the party and don't know who the picks are because I I do have a theory on the Jackson Koivin
03:29pick so
03:30why don't you just give us those six uh captains picks for the American side the six captains picks
03:35are Chris Scott are up Xander Shoffley Justin Thomas Patrick Cantley Jacob Bridgman and Jackson
03:42Koivin and I'm trying to remember the qualifiers off top of my head I think it was Scheffler Cam Young
03:48Burns Sam Burns um who else am I missing here Morikawa Russell Henley Wyndham Clark Wyndham Clark there
03:56you go so that's that's your full team right there um and then on the international side just
04:01kind of fill that roster out Corey Connors Nico Echevarria Nick Taylor Sung J M Rio Satsune and
04:06Christian Bezayden out were the picks on the international side and I'll grab those full
04:10rosters in a second so we can kind of go back and compare and look at potential pairings but
04:13so what's what's your theory then based off of those American captains picks my theory is that I
04:19think Jackson Koivin was on the team even though this JJ spawn I think was a player that a lot
04:24of guys
04:24had on the team based on him winning on the PGA Tour being on the Ryder Cup team the past
04:29year
04:29and really you know making the tour championship and I thought was a fairly solid year for JJ
04:35and I wanted to see more from him in in these team rooms to see uh exactly how he would
04:42you know stack
04:43up in these formats as he didn't get a great uh at bat I would say at Ryder Cup I
04:48think only playing
04:49a couple times so his injury obviously was huge in in the uh in that pick process but my take
04:56is that
04:56Koivin was on the team and maybe Bridgman would have been potentially the guy uh that would have
05:01been out like if if if let's just say that uh you know JJ is to was going to be
05:08on the team if if he
05:09was healthy I think Koivin's still on the team I still feel like that was his his initiative this
05:15whole time was to get this guy on the team and I I frankly love it now that's just that's
05:19just a gut
05:19feel on on where I think that the way the team kind of lays out because he went very veteran
05:26heavy
05:26which I think a lot of people have issues with maybe the Xander the JT or the Patrick Cantlay I
05:33think you could have made an argument that if you wanted to really lean into the young guys you pick
05:38one of those guys and then you have two of those guys off the team and then you would have
05:42gone
05:42a different direction with a Ryan Gerrard and then maybe somebody else that's young now I I totally
05:48understand Sned's picks I mean look at the records of these guys in President's Cups uh you can
05:53understand why Xander, Pat and JT were all picked uh but I also understand that people want to see fresh
