00:02Now that the Trinidad leg of the Republic Bank CPL is over, a week to be precise, questions will follow.
00:07All five matches were held at the Queen's Park Oval, which involved home team Trinbego Knight Riders.
00:13So how satisfied was QPCC President Geoffrey Gillen regarding the hosting of matches in Sinclair?
00:18Yes, we were very happy that we were able to host the five games, and not just host it, but
00:23host them successfully.
00:25I think we got some fantastic crowds, people were generally very happy.
00:33Obviously, we did not, patrons didn't have to face the traffic getting to south, and vice versa.
00:39The logistics are getting to Brant Lara.
00:42I think Brant Lara is a fantastic stadium nevertheless, but Queen's Park is the creme de creme, right?
00:51And as you would have experienced, coming here at the Oval, in terms of getting in and getting out, it
00:58was, what we'll say in inverted commas, a breeze.
01:01This was Gillen's first CPL as the club's president, having replaced Dr. Nigel Camacho in December 2025.
01:08With that post came responsibilities, which meant he had to do his part when it came to the hosting of
01:14this year's tournament in Port of Spain.
01:15Well, to begin with, your priority at first would be the 23 yards, of course.
01:21And I think we produced five fantastic wickets for the tournament.
01:25I'm certain that TKR kind of complained about the wickets.
01:28I mean, the wickets produced a lot of the runs, except that we came up short four out of the
01:34five times, unfortunately, right?
01:37Nothing Queen's Park could have done about that.
01:39But in terms of the general experience, in terms of our patrons, I think they had a really, really, really
01:46good time.
01:47And we look forward to next year's CPL.
01:50Time will tell if all Trinidad matches are going to be hosted solely in North or South, or if there's
01:55going to be a mixture in 2027.
01:58Whatever the case, Gillen and his team will be ready for what comes their way.
02:02Of course, I would like as much games as possible at Queen's Park Cricket Club.
02:07We also have to recognize that we also have another stadium in South.
02:12And I think it's only fair that the games are shared equally between South and North, right?
02:20I don't want to be selfish and say, you know, I want all five games.
02:24It would be nice, and I will welcome it.
02:26But I think from a pure logistical point of view, and to be fair across the board, I think it
02:33would be nice if we could share them equally.
02:37Gillen was also delighted that the Bravo Pollard-Narain stand was unveiled during this year's CPL to replace the Trini
02:43Posse stand.
02:44It was a momentous occasion at which the families of the players were also present, along with the sports minister
02:50and club president.
02:51We have to acknowledge the success of these three young men, and what they mean to Queen's Park, and what
02:59Queen's Park means to them, right?
03:01And the fact that they have made a mark on themselves, you know, all over the world.
03:08And you have to understand, it's very emotional to us as well, because these boys were here at seven and
03:14eight years of age.
03:14Gillen believes the Trinbego Knight Riders are capable of beating Guyana-Amazon Warriors in their remaining game with the hope
03:21of having an outside chance of making the playoffs.
03:23Then we'll now have any tips export.
