00:00Heavy thunderstorms in numerous areas that we got from the western part of the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles
00:05all the way up to the northern part of the Adirondacks.
00:08It's a pretty diverse mix of areas with that green stripe.
00:10The severe weather potential is greatest for the Central Plains this evening in southern Kansas,
00:16northern Oklahoma, and northern Texas into western parts of Missouri.
00:19And again, we've already seen a few gusts there of 70 miles per hour plus.
00:23So our AccuWeather local storm max, 85 miles per hour.
00:27That's like the extreme end of the scale.
00:28Most areas will not quite see that, but there will be some more 55 to 70 mile per hour gusts
00:33with some of those storms.
00:34This front gradually, slowly pushes south.
00:37It's kind of a subtle process, a slow process.
00:39More storms tonight for I-70.
00:42Tomorrow they break out in greater numbers in Texas, Oklahoma, and into Arkansas.
00:46And then we pan north because we pick up the next storm system coming in Friday.
00:50This one's going to bring some pretty aggressive thunderstorms to Minnesota, northwest Iowa, and eastern Nebraska.
00:54Some of them will be severe.
00:56That rolls east.
00:57And there's more where that comes from then.
00:59Another disturbance begins to pivot through the Rockies.
01:01So it's a pretty active pattern in the north-central U.S., but there are some bright spots.
01:06One of them will be the upper Midwest tomorrow.
01:08Great weather if you're north of that front, but if you're down south of I-70, that's where the storms
01:13are going to be lingering.
01:13And, again, we'll have some severe weather down south of I-44, the Ozark Plateau, eastern Oklahoma, and into areas
01:20around the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.
01:23Friday, it's a winter for the Great Lakes.
01:25But remember I showed you future radar with those aggressive storms that went from nothing to pretty aggressive, intense thunderstorms
01:32there in eastern South Dakota and Minnesota on Friday.
01:34Some of those will be severe, and I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually have to add a small orange
01:39zone to this area.
01:41Hail and damaging winds.
01:42You can see we have a pretty high-end AccuWeather local storm access.
01:45Somebody out there could see a gust over 80 or 85 miles per hour with this setup.
01:50Saturday, a lot of storms here into some parts of Big Ten country.
01:54We'll be keeping an eye out for that.
01:55Then we go ahead to Sunday.
01:57The next system comes in across the Rockies.
01:59This one's going to bring cooler air to the Rockies, but then strong storms into South Dakota, Nebraska, and nearby
02:04areas.
02:05And we're going all the way out to Monday night for Monday Night Football.
02:08Denver at Kansas City at Arrowhead.
02:11And that front could be in the neighborhood.
02:13Could be some storms.
02:14And we're going to have a big cool down behind the front, but it will still be pretty warm.
02:18We'll have to keep an eye out for perhaps a lightning delay there at Arrowhead on Monday night.
02:22That's a long ways away, though, Anna.
02:24So we've got some showers and storms right now near the Great Lakes.
02:28We do.
02:28The area that we were watching about an hour and a half ago has weakened at this point.
02:33We're seeing great signs here with these thunderstorms really just breaking up at this point.
02:39But a line to the south has been strengthening, moving from just down south of downtown Cleveland
02:46down through about Youngstown area, but headed towards Pittsburgh.
02:50A lot of this is going to stay north, but not out of the question that we end up with
02:53a severe thunderstorm or two into downtown Pittsburgh.
02:56So heads up there.
02:57More just widespread rain that's not causing too many problems in upstate New York and New England.
03:02We do have our severe thunderstorm.
03:04Watch out until 11 p.m.
03:05Some counties already shaved off of this as storms have moved through, though we've also expanded further to the south
03:12as well.
03:13So keep an eye on the area northeastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and then just the southernmost three counties of western
03:21New York here for the most likelihood or the highest likelihood of severe thunderstorms as we go through the rest
03:27of the evening.
03:27But the area we're concerned about a little bit more expansive overall is the area we've been highlighting since yesterday
03:33for severe weather damaging when the main concern but some flooding downpours.
03:36And I'm not going to completely rule out a stray tornado warning or two, but it mainly is the damaging
03:41wind that we've seen so far and that we expect to see moving forward here.
03:44Now, all of this is ahead of a cold front that we've been talking about for a couple days now
03:48tracking it from the northern plains.
03:50And here's the thing that's happening with our cold front.
03:52It's not one of those fronts that's just going to move offshore here all nice and clean.
03:56It drops south.
03:58So that's why we have rain and thunderstorms into the northeast today.
04:01But by the time we get to tomorrow, not so much.
04:04It really is more mid-Atlantic focus, but really it's the Ohio Valley seeing the worst of it.
04:08So kind of in between my region and Jeff's region for today because a lot of the rain and thunderstorms
04:13notice how it breaks up before it really gets to D.C., Philadelphia, and New York.
04:17You'll still see some rain chances and D.C. even some potential downpours.
04:20However, the worst of it really stays into the Ohio Valley and then further south as we head into Thursday,
04:27Friday, and then Saturday, we see that rain push its way back up into the northeast for a more comfortable
04:33weekend, but also a little bit of a rainy weekend.
04:36Here's the entire area we're watching Thursday.
04:38It's a repeat of today.
04:39Damaging wind, not out of the question here.
04:41Localized flash flooding, the biggest concern at the very least, some thunderstorms that can disrupt your day.
04:45Bye.
