Donald Trump tears into former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper during a fiery speech at the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas.
Addressing delegates and supporters, President Donald Trump takes direct aim at the North Carolina U.S. Senate race between Democrat Roy Cooper and Republican nominee Michael Whatley. Trump evokes the tragic 2025 stabbing death of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a Charlotte light rail train, directly targeting Cooper’s record on crime, justice reform, and inmate releases.
Trump draws parallels to past political crime controversies, warning voters about North Carolina's safety and public transit.

00:00Now, in North Carolina, you have a little more difficult case, because people don't
00:06quite get it, but they're going to find out.
00:09Democrats nominated Roy Cooper, who worked with anti-police radicals to release thousands
00:17and thousands of dangerous criminals and murderers all over the once-safe streets and countryside
00:23of beautiful North Carolina.
00:26My daughter-in-law, Laura, loves North Carolina.
00:29She comes from there.
00:30And last year, on a train in Charlotte, you all saw it, one monster, an absolute monster,
00:38with 14 prior arrests, nothing but trouble, violent person, stood up behind a beautiful
00:4523-year-old woman, Irina Zaritska, and slashed a knife from behind across her neck and killed
00:55her mother, almost instantly, other than a look she gave up.
01:01What happened?
01:02That was her last thought, it was her last look.
01:05He was an animal, a violent killer, and everyone knew it.
01:08They all knew it.
01:09They all knew he was destined to kill.
01:12He loomed over her as the life drained from her, absolutely petrified.
01:18You've all seen it.
01:19And you don't want to see any more than the pudding of the knife.
01:24If you wanted to look at something as horrific as anything you'll ever see, let that tape run.
01:30Most networks, and I give them credit for this, they wouldn't let that happen.
01:34It was violent.
01:36I, unfortunately, because of my position, I was forced to look.
01:39I did not like it.
01:40I did not like looking, and I wish I never saw it.
01:43She died on a metro train, terrified and alone.
01:47I got to meet her mother at the State of the Union.
01:49She was there, she was, it was quite a while afterwards.
01:53And the mother's, she said, I haven't stopped crying since it took place.
01:57Never, she'll never be the same.
02:00Roy Cooper was the governor and released this animal into North Carolina society.
02:07And others that were, and others that were almost as bad.
02:13This happened up in Massachusetts a long time ago,
02:16when they released a violent criminal and that man killed numerous women very quickly,
02:25raped and killed them right after being released.
02:29And as you know, that governor from Massachusetts was running for president and he was leading.
02:36And as soon as that happened, he took a 10 point drop and then another 10 point.
02:41And then, and he got beat in a slaughter.
02:44That should happen to Roy Cooper because Roy Cooper, what he's done is worse.
02:56Roy Cooper released people like that can't imagine as bad, but very bad murderers all over the streets and fields
03:06of North Carolina.
03:07Did you ever see North Carolina, how much crime they seem to have now?
03:10They never had crime.
03:11And now they want to make him a Senator.
03:14He wants to be a Senator.
03:15All right.
03:15There you go.
03:15I guess what?
