00:00It's great to see you, Congressman. I want to address that last point there, because this is
00:04going to be a nationwide issue, these data centers. And there are going to be Republican Trump voters
00:10who still love Republicans and still love President Trump, but dang it, they don't want a data center
00:14in their backyard and they're a little concerned about it. How do you plan to contend with that
00:19issue and some of these voters who might be a little weary of your stance on data centers?
00:26Well, listen, thanks for having me on. To voters in Florida who are concerned about
00:30data centers, I want to be crystal clear. Florida law signed by Governor DeSantis puts control
00:36over a data center being built in the hands of local government. Local government will decide
00:41these matters because they're the ones who issue building permits. We are not going to preempt local
00:46governments. We're not going to override local governments. Communities will make those decisions.
00:50Number two, also law in Florida, your utility bill will not go up because of a data center. That
00:56is state law. And Florida is a regulated utility state. We are going to keep that law in place.
01:02Number three, it requires them to have a use permit for any water. That's to protect Florida's aquifers,
01:08to protect the fresh drinking water of our state. And number four, things we want to do and work on
01:13going forward. We want to make sure that there are standards when it comes to proximity. Nobody wants
01:18them near their house. We want to make sure that the homes of Floridians are protected. And last but
01:22not least, the state of Florida has already commissioned a study to actually look at all
01:28of the potential impacts. That study is going to be back in June of 2027. We will be transmitting
01:34that study, not just to local governments all across the state of Florida, but to the people of
01:39Florida. Number one, I just want to be very clear on this. Local governments have the final say.
01:43They will decide. And your utility bills will not go up because of a data center, period.
01:49Congressman and candidate Donalds, thank you for joining us tonight. I want to ask another
01:52question about data centers real quick. So just so I understand, you know, you're saying the
01:57legislation that Governor DeSantis signed, I think Senate Bill 484 regulates the hyperscale of AI data
02:04centers. But you as a candidate are someone that data center groups have invested in. It's not necessarily
02:10a bad thing. It's not pointing a finger, but it is true. You're the candidate that those companies
02:14who want to build data centers are backing. You say, hey, we're going to let local governments
02:20have a say in this. Is there any pledge or do you think there's any sentiment among Floridians
02:25about the state of Florida's, you know, rather be tax breaks, investment, financial connection
02:33to data centers that you feel like is something that Floridians aren't on board for that you may
02:38have to cross that bridge? No, I think, like I said at the top, if a local government decides
02:45that they don't want to build or permit a data center, then the state of Florida is not going
02:50to force them to do that. As the state's next governor, we are going to respect communities.
02:54We are going to respect local control and uphold local control. That is state law today. Like I said,
03:00Governor DeSantis signed it. My running mate, the next lieutenant governor of Florida, he authored this
03:06bill in the state Senate for it to become law. So we want to make sure that local communities are
03:11empowered. Florida is very diverse and very dynamic. We're not going to override these local governments.
03:17They are going to have the final say on all of this. The state of Florida will not preempt them.
