00:01Alam Maritim Resources Managing Director and CEO Datuk Azmi Ahmad has been charged with two counts of cheating over charter
00:09boat rates.
00:10The 67-year-old pleaded not guilty at the KL Sessions Court on Thursday.
00:15According to the first charge, Azmi allegedly concealed the actual daily charter rate of RM80,500 in a work order
00:23dated August 24, 2023,
00:26leading TH Alam Management Principal Officer Iskandar Mohamed Zafar to sign a BIMCO Supply Time 2017 agreement between Alam JVDP2
00:37and Alam Maritim at a lower rate of RM70,000 a day.
00:41In the second charge, he's accused of concealing the actual daily rate of RM110,000 in a work order dated
00:49January 15 last year,
00:50prompting Iskandar to sign a separate agreement between TH Alam Management and Alam Maritim at RM78,000 a day.
00:58The offences were allegedly committed at a premises in Jalan Radin Anum, Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, on September 6, 2023
01:06and January 16, 2024.
01:09The charges carry up to five years jail, a fine or both if convicted.
01:14The prosecution sought bail of RM500,000, with conditions including regular reporting to the MACC and no contact with witnesses.
01:23The defence asked for a lower amount, citing Azmi's health issues as well as supporting his wife and six children,
01:30with the youngest being only six years old.
01:33The court set bail at RM300,000, with the additional conditions allowed.
01:38The case will be mentioned again on November 18th.
