00:00What the Prime Minister was doing yesterday was highlighting one of the proposals that the
00:04Leader of the Opposition had put forward to pay for our investment in defence, which was cutting
00:09housing benefit. She'd not thought that through because if you cut housing benefit by £4 billion,
00:14that's families and children who will end up on the streets homeless. You'll have to then put
00:19them into temporary accommodation. We all know that costs much more. So it's economically
00:24illiterate to do that. Now he was setting out a very clear way of how you improve the council
00:29housing that we need in this country, how you build more housing. But he absolutely recognises
00:35we need to reduce that budget, but we obviously need to meet our NATO 3.5% of GDP by
00:443035. That's
00:45what he said we're going to do that. It's going to be set out in the spending review how we're
00:49going
00:49to provide that money. But can I also just say we've already reached the target we set in our
00:54manifesto of 2.5% GDP. We've got more money going into defence now than at any time since the
01:00Cold War.
01:01So we can be judged on our actions around defence and how seriously we take national security.
