00:00I think the crucial thing here is that Andy Burnham's got it the wrong way around.
00:03You can't have a welfare state, you don't even have a state without national security.
00:07And I think actually the first duty of any government is to protect its people
00:11and to ensure that, yes, our military is there, but also our law and order policies are there as well.
00:17And to say that welfare is more important than that, because that's essentially what he's saying.
00:22He's saying you can't have one if you're not protecting social security.
00:25I think that is a fundamental misunderstanding of where we are as a country and of the world we're in,
00:33whether it's the Chagos situation we're facing with the government basically paying to take British islands away,
00:39whether it's the new threats over the Falklands, whether it's Russia in the North Sea.
00:43We know they've been attacking undersea cables.
00:46You know, these are real concerns affecting Britain right now.
