00:15game releases.

00:36Number 50. Theseus and Asterius. Hades.
00:40Two against one. This seems hardly fair. Oh well. Let's kill him and be done, king.
00:47The nature of the underworld is that everybody's either immortal or already dead.
00:51So every time Zagreus dies and returns to the house of Hades, so do all of his foes.
00:56Though not the final boss, the combo fight against Theseus and Asterius will have you pulling your hair out in
01:01frustration.
01:02And this is only made worse by the fact that Theseus is a sore loser.
01:06When one of them dies, the other gets a power-up in the form of a godly boon for Theseus
01:10and a debilitating attack boost for Asterius.
01:13They're such a notorious pair that this might actually be the hardest fight in the entire game, even if you've
01:18already completed it and are just going for additional runs.
01:26Number 49. Terramorphous the Invincible. Borderlands 2.
01:36You definitely don't want to face Terramorphous solo. In fact, anything less than a full party of four is likely
01:43a death sentence.
01:43The quest is called You. Will. Die. Seriously. And it lives up to the name.
01:49Only opening up when you've finished Borderlands 2's story, this boss is designed to be taken on at the very
01:54end of the game when you're at the max level possible.
01:57Going in any earlier makes you either very brave or very stupid. Or maybe both.
02:09Before facing Terramorphous, you'll want to invest in a lot of upgrades to increase your ammo capacity, get the best
02:14equipment you can find, and perhaps even lower the difficulty.
02:18But above all, do not go it alone.
02:25Number 48. Yaldabaith. Persona 5.
02:32Give me a break.
02:37It's a Persona game. Of course you're going to fight God at the end.
02:41Once you've practically beaten the game and have cleared out the furthest depths of Mementos, you'll come face to face
02:46with Persona 5's actual villain, Yaldabaith.
02:49The God of Control will put you through your paces due to its various arms acting as independent entities that
02:54can unleash physical damage, magical damage, and a slew of debuffs that can cripple your team.
02:58If you've been slacking when it comes to leveling up or bolstering your collection of Personas, then get ready.
03:03Because the walking holy grail over here is not conservative when it comes to letting loose colossal blows of light.
03:14Number 47. Maneater. Demon's Souls.
03:24In another case where the arena itself adds to a lot of the fight's difficulty, you'll face Maneater while stuck
03:29on an incredibly narrow bridge.
03:30Not only do you need to worry about fighting the boss, but you also need to watch your footing to
03:35ensure you don't fall to your doom.
03:36But then, just when you think you've got the upper hand, the Maneater will summon a friend so that you're
03:41up against two of these fearsome creatures.
03:49After all that, you've still got to watch out for poison damage if you don't get rid of that tail
03:54fast enough.
03:55Everything is working against you in this battle.
03:57And I can tell you, I died quite a bit.
04:04Number 46. Ogdo Bogdo and Spawn of Ogdo. Star Wars Jedi. Survivor.
04:09Cal Kestis' slew of spacefaring adventures has given us some of the best moments in Star Wars' gaming catalogue.
04:15It's also given us an intense hatred towards frogs.
04:17Both Fallen Order and Survivor each had a giant hope to battle against, and each was horrendous.
04:23But neither compared to the anguish of having to face both at the same time.
04:26In an enclosed arena, able to leap large distances and all too eager to spam their insta-kill attacks,
04:32these extraterrestrial amphibians pushed many of us to the dark side.
04:36Respawn, we will not be responsible for our actions if you put another Ogdo in the threequel.
04:41Number 45. Lu Bu. Wolong. Fallen Dynasty.
04:52No matter your gear, no matter your build, fighter Lu Bu always makes you feel comically underpowered.
04:57He forces a strict deflection rhythm that lasts for several minutes without a break.
05:01His spear combos are delayed just enough to bait out an early parry,
05:04and his spirit bar regenerates if you back off for even a second.
05:07The pressure is constant.
05:09When he dismounts, he starts mixing in massive fire explosions that require you to jump or dodge while maintaining the
05:15parry chain.
05:15One missed red flash attack results in a grapple that takes three quarters of your health.
05:20Needless to say, Lu Bu is one of the hardest battles of attrition in modern gaming.
05:24Lu Bu, don't play.
05:32Number 44. Raven Beak. Metroid Dread.
05:43Congratulations Samus, you've got a father.
05:45Bad news, he's a murderous megalomaniac who has no issue with wiping out his own bloodline to achieve his goals.
05:51Raven Beak is the pinnacle of Metroid difficulty, with a slew of weapons and techniques that will have you screw
05:56attacking around the room in the faint hope of trying to outlast them.
06:06Arm cannons, missiles dashing across the screen, sprouting wings, giant lasers, a miniature sun, this Chozo is a walking armory
06:14with the itchiest of trigger faders.
06:21Number 43. Nyx Avatar. Persona 3 Reload.
06:31Hope you maxed out those social links, trained up your personas and are armed to the T, because you're going
06:36to need it if you want to survive the gauntlet that is this apocalyptic entity.
06:40The battle against Nyx Avatar is one of endurance, since it will switch between each of the major arcana tarot
06:45cards, and in doing so, change up its attack patterns and weakness.
06:55By the time you've figured out a strategy to best it, the cycle starts all over again.
07:00That's 14 phases of pure pain, so best to get preparing if you want to make it to that bittersweet
07:05ending.
07:12Number 42. Grimm Matchstick. Cuphead.
07:22As if this fight wouldn't have been hard enough just learning Grimm's attack patterns over three forms, but dealing with
07:28the randomly occurring cloud platforms just seems cruel.
07:31Sometimes, in order to not fall to your death, you have to eat a projectile from Grimm just to land
07:36safely on a cloud, making for a frustrating, damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.
07:42The first two stages of this fight, while still frustrating, are manageable with well-timed jumps, but it's the last
07:48phase that had us wanting to rage quit.
07:50You'll need to have some amazing concentration skills to keep track of the clouds, orange balls, and flame thrower all
07:56at once.
08:04Number 41. Mr. X Super Tyrant. Resident Evil 2.
08:12There are a few things that make this battle frustratingly hard, but none more so than Mr. X's instant kill
08:18charge attack.
08:19If you're low on ammo at this point, the fight is basically impossible, as you have to stagger Mr. X
08:25with a shot to the heart while he's charging up to lunge at you.
08:28And it's likely that you will be low on ammo at this point, because most of the fight has you
08:32unloading bullets into the monster's heart, which is pretty small and easily missed.
08:42Then there's the issue of the platform itself and how small it is compared to the enormity of the boss,
08:47not to mention his decent speed, long reach, and powerful regular attacks.
08:51Aim, shoot, don't miss.

09:00Number 40. Icon of Sin. Doom Eternal.
09:09By the end of the game, only one thing stands between the Doom Slayer and his mission to save Earth
09:14from total annihilation.
09:16That thing is the Icon of Sin, a being summoned to consume humanity in the finale.
09:21The Icon has a wide range of damaging attacks it can use to smite you.
09:25You need to be fast on your feet to avoid both this fearsome creature and the seemingly endless enemies that
09:30it spawns.
09:31Between killing low-level enemies for health and ammo drops and trying to knock off the Icon's armor, there's a
09:36lot going on.
09:44It will probably take you quite a few attempts to get a handle on what the hell is happening in
09:48this chaotic conclusion, let alone conquer the Icon.
09:56Number 39. Balos. Cave Story.
10:04Sealed away underground, Balos reveals himself to be the true antagonist of Cave Story and the final boss for Quote
10:11and his friends to defeat.
10:12You'll only encounter Balos if you're on track for the game's best ending, traveling to hell itself.
10:17Balos is an ominous figure even when you first meet him, but he's got a variety of forms for you
10:22to go through, and each form is freakier than the last one.
10:31Beating him is an art. You'll have had to master the game's controls and perfected your attacks to avoid getting
10:36caught by his flying eyeballs and land hits on your own.
10:40But first, you'll want to have found all the best weapons.
10:47Number 38. Morgan Freeman. South Park. The Fractured But Whole.
10:59Morgan Freeman is without a doubt the hardest boss in the game, but luckily, he's also an optional one.
11:05Unfortunately, if you're looking to win that illustrious Farts Over Freckles trophy, you're going to have to brave this boss
11:10fight at some point or another.
11:12But we really don't recommend trying to fight Mr. Freeman until you've beaten the game and your character is upgraded
11:18to the max, because he starts off with 9,999 hit points and has a powerful Fart Attack that can
11:24kill any of your party members instantly.
11:30That's called a kiss from the lips that never smile.
11:34Also, in the second phase of the fight, he has twice the number of turns as the first.
11:38You're going to need a whole lot of healing potions and double the amount of patience to survive this battle.
11:43Listen to my heavenly voice and gaze upon my freckles. Congratulations. You've just been Freeman.
11:51Number 37. Final Fantasy VII Remake.
12:06Sephiroth in FF7 Remake is a relentless powerhouse, especially on hard mode.
12:10He cycles through all elemental affinities, forcing you to change your strategy every few minutes.
12:15His Octo Slash is a death sentence waiting to happen, so you'll need hefty defensive buffs or a perfectly timed
12:20counter to survive it.
12:21For the most part, the fight is mostly spectacle, but it culminates in a frantic DPS race as he prepares
12:27to cast Meteor.
12:28If he manages to get it out, you will most likely lose the fight.
12:31The better strategy is to save your limit breaks and try to stagger him when he begins casting Meteor and
12:36get to praying.
12:43Number 36. Extreme Behemoth. Monster Hunter World.
12:55When a boss makes their entrance by coming crashing down from the heavens inside a Meteorite, you know it's going
13:00to be a difficult kill.
13:01Taking the Extreme Behemoth down alone is possible, but certainly not advised.
13:05Unless you're an absolute pro, you'll want a group of friends with some very specific and balanced builds.
13:16It's no use focusing entirely on damage.
13:19You need a tank to keep its attention, a healer to make sure you're all alright, and a lot of
13:23DPS behind you to help with one of the fight's faces.
13:25To make matters even worse, unlike the regular Behemoth, the Extreme Variety will eventually become immune to the Flash Pods
13:31typically used to interrupt certain attacks.
13:40Number 35. Verdugo. Resident Evil 4 Remake.
13:52When a game gives you the option to run away from a fight, you know things are about to take
13:56a turn for the worst.
13:57Verdugo, aside from being utterly terrifying, is also one of Resident Evil's biggest damage sponges, with the only surefire way
14:03to end it being to consistently expose it to sub-zero temperatures, then light it up with every last piece
14:09of ammo you've got.
14:16That's all easier said than done, giving its fondness for dipping in and out of crawl spaces, not to mention
14:21its wicked speed.
14:22We honestly can't blame anyone for ducking out midway through.
14:25Verdugo is a beast that's more than a match for Leon and his fabulous hair.
14:35Number 34. Rafael. Baldur's Gate 3.
14:44He's the Devil Among Devils, a charismatic hellspawn who delivers deals and death in equal measure.
14:50A monster so in love with himself that he sings his own theme song.
14:54Should the player decide to go against Rafael and invade his House of Hope, it leads to a clash that
14:58makes the likes of the Nether Brain look like a tutorial boss.
15:11Rafael himself comes with an astounding 666 HP and some devastating spells under his belt, and can use the pillars
15:18around the stage to restore and bolster his strength.
15:20And that's to say nothing of his miniature army of cambions ready to jump into the fray and spear your
15:26party.
15:37Number 33. Yozora. Kingdom Hearts 3.
15:51It's obvious from the moment you meet him that Yozora plays by different rules, and this becomes immediately evident in
15:57his boss fight too.
15:58He can steal your items mid-combat, including your Revival Coins, and use them against you.
16:03His moveset has beams that lock you in place, as well as teleports that make him impossible to pin down.
16:08Because of this speed, you'll be relying more on audio cues to time your guards.
16:12Every missed block leads to a combo that drains your health.
16:15He leaves no clear openings, so you'll have to create them yourself by parrying high-speed projectiles back into his
16:20face.
16:28Number 32. Takezo the Unrivaled. Ghost of Yotei.
16:43Taking place on the titular mountain, this legendary swordsman will put you through your paces.
16:47Takezo wields dual katanas, allowing him to relentlessly attack you with a flurry of strikes.
16:52Not only is he incredibly fast, but if you fail to dodge or block even one of his attacks, you'll
16:56lose a huge chunk of your health.
16:58His defense is also ridiculous.
17:00This is made all the worse by how the cold mountain air will freeze your health, to the point where
17:04you'll only be left with a sliver just waiting to be snuffed out.
17:07The challenge here is unlike anything else in Yotei, so be prepared accordingly.
17:19Number 31. Sephiroth. Kingdom Hearts 2.
17:22I see. So that's a Keyblade.
17:27Oh, I remember this one like it was yesterday.
17:29One of the most iconic Final Fantasy villains of all time, Sephiroth was inevitably going to show up in Kingdom
17:34Hearts eventually.
17:35But rather than introduce him as a big bad, he's instead an optional boss that Sora can avoid fighting.
17:40And frankly, that might be best for those who aren't ready to deal with one-winged Angel's personal brand of
17:45punishing.
17:46The speed, the aggressiveness, the way he can drop your HP to a single digit with one move, Sephiroth is
17:52only for those who consider themselves a true Keyblade connoisseur.
18:03Number 30. Senator Armstrong. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance.
18:07How the hell did you get elected?
18:11Well, I don't write my own speeches.
18:14The Senator from Texas has the floor.
18:17And he's going to use that floor to absolutely destroy Raiden and anyone else naive enough to take him on
18:22without a solid strategy.
18:23Armstrong is a politician on a mission to seize control of America.
18:26But not satisfied with working behind a desk, he's also used advanced nanotechnology to make himself a physical powerhouse.
18:40The fight isn't made any easier by the tricky battle arena.
18:44Your fight begins in a small area surrounded by invisible walls.
18:47Armstrong is just as difficult for Raiden to beat narratively as it is for you.
18:50Combined with the total lack of checkpoints, he's sure to stop you in your tracks.
18:55You carve your own path. Use whatever methods you see fetch.
19:02Number 29. Sigrun. The Valkyrie Queen. God of War.
19:12For all the work that goes into even reaching this boss, you'd think that she'd be slightly more forgiving.
19:18But... nope.
19:20That's wishful thinking.
19:21All the previous Valkyrie fights have basically just been training for the Queen.
19:25And she uses all the movesets from the previous Valkyries as well, making her attack arsenal almost overwhelming.
19:30It's not just that she has a lot of moves either, but she has a few that are incredibly powerful,
19:36like her flying Mace Slam,
19:37and are likely to end your game real quick if you're not paying attention.
19:40You'll need to be constantly blocking and looking for an opportunity to parry in order to get the upper hand
19:45in this tense battle.
19:53Number 28. Demon of Obsession. Wu Chang. Fallen Feathers.
19:58The Chisel is complete. By you. It's time to bring you home.
20:06This boss battle is a lethal mirror match that serves as the ultimate exam of your skills.
20:10The Demon of Obsession is a spellcaster who can switch between a spear, a greatsword, bow, and even unarmed lightning
20:16-imbued attacks,
20:17forcing you to change your parry and dodge timing.
20:20In the second phase, she amps up her aggression quite a bit and starts using echo versions of spells used
20:24by previous bosses.
20:26Ideally, you'll want to stay mid-range, as going too far away will prompt her to start using more projectiles,
20:31and they are really difficult to deal with.
20:33If you can bait out her lunges, they're a lot easier to punish, albeit deadly if they connect with you.
20:38Enjoy the risk and reward.
20:47Number 27. Scarlet. Stellar Blade.
20:56Added in the Stellar Blade and Nikki crossover, Scarlet is a hellish parry challenge wrapped in a pretty face.
21:02She's almost invisible as she teleports around the arena, leaving damaging after-images in her wake.
21:07The hardest part of the fight to deal with is her five-hit devil trigger-esque combo.
21:11If you miss even one perfect parry in this chain, a cinematic grab triggers that results in an immediate game
21:17over.
21:17In true annoying boss design fashion, she reads your inputs and instantly lunges at you from the other side of
21:22the arena,
21:23if she catches you trying to heal.
21:32Number 26. Ganaa. God of War Ragnarok.
21:35She's fierce. Attack only if you think we are ready.
21:42If you thought the first Valkyrie Queen was hard, wait until you try Ganaa.
21:45When she's not peppering you with her bladed wings, she's chaining Bifrost projectiles directly into a diving grab that has
21:52almost zero startup frames.
21:53Unlike the Valkyries from the previous game, Ganaa's attacks give you barely any time to react.
21:58She might even break the camera sometimes due to her speed, and you'll be vulnerable to a blind-sight attack
22:03from her because of it.
22:04What's more, on Heist difficulty, it's almost impossible to use runic summons without her interrupting them.
22:10You'll need a Spartan's determination to finally clip her wings.
22:18Number 25. Time Worm.
22:21Dragon Quest XI S. Echoes of an Elusive Age. Definitive Edition.
22:30Dragon Quest XI Time Worm is a heavyweight of the RPG super boss scene.
22:34It acts a whopping four times every turn in its final turn.
22:37It uses Disruptive Wave to strip away all your buffs, leaving you vulnerable to a follow-up of two massive
22:43area-of-effect spells.
22:44Even with the best equipment in the game, the damage output is staggering.
22:48You have to rely on a precise rotation of healing and defensive skills while hoping for pep powers to trigger
22:53at the right time.
22:54The fight is painfully slow, and you'll have to pray you successfully predict the AI's next move, or you might
22:59as well say goodbye to your party.
23:08Number 24. Galdera the Fallen. Octopath Traveler 2.
23:15Neither of us is willing to back down, I see.
23:18Could Batman beat Galdera with enough prep time?
23:21Probably not, but you can.
23:23The fight forces you to split your eight characters into two separate teams, meaning your second team has to be
23:27just as optimized as your main one.
23:29The first phase will have you managing three souls that must be killed at the same time, or they constantly
23:34respawn.
23:35In the second phase, Galdera gains access to moves that can wipe a full health party in a single turn
23:40if your buffs drop for even a second.
23:43The fight is long and grueling, and even a single bad turn of RNG will kill you.
23:54Number 23. Savage Omega Planetus. Monster Hunter Wilds.
24:07Monster Hunter has no shortage of grueling challenges, and this one is right up there.
24:12Appearing as a crossover with Final Fantasy and Wilds, its signature delta attack is a DPS check which requires all
24:18four hunters to defeat a Narsila clone within a time limit.
24:21Defeating the clone will summon a shield that will allow you to survive the attack, however, if you're unable to,
24:26the entire team will be wiped.
24:28Beyond the gimmick, Savage Omega Planetus is a hyper-aggressive monster with almost no recovery frames between its attacks.
24:34It fires MIRV projectiles that blanket the entire area in explosions, so you'll struggle to find a safe spot to
24:40heal or sharpen your weapon.
24:41Lastly, this boss has a 30 minute timer, which is actually really tight for this obnoxiously difficult battle.
24:54Number 22. IB-01 Cell 240. Armored Core 6. Fires at Rubicon.
25:07There's no shortage of war machines to test your mettle against in FromSoft's return to the mecha genre, but even
25:13against continent-sized robots, none compare to the unmatched savagery that is the Cell 240.
25:18A sentient armored core controlled by Coral Energy, this thing is as fast as it is lethal.
25:34The Sentinel will dominate the battlefield with its unmatched maneuverability before unleashing barrages that will offer the slimmest of openings.
25:41You're going to need some next level reaction time before you have a hope of returning fire.
25:54Number 21. Igong. Nine Souls.
26:04This kitty doesn't just have claws, she's got a whole ass lightsaber.
26:08The entire fight is built around the internal damage system, where parrying builds up power that you must release to
26:13survive.
26:14Her strikes are incredibly fast and come in long, complex strings that require a perfect rhythm.
26:19During her final phase, she fills the screen with projectiles that you have to parry while she teleports around for
26:24a finishing blow.
26:25If you miss the timing of her Crimson attacks, you take massive internal damage that will kill you in seconds
26:30regardless of your remaining health.
26:32Meow indeed.
26:41Number 20. Chronos and Typhon. Hades 2.
26:52What's worse than fighting the Titan of Time or the monster that even Olympians fear? How about both at once?
26:58Chronos creates time-slowing bubbles that trap you in place, while Typhon rains down massive fireballs from above.
27:04You can't focus on one without the other, so if you stay still to damage Chronos, Typhon's environmental attacks will
27:09catch you.
27:10To really make it hard, you'll have to navigate intense visual clutter with gold sand and red flames covering the
27:16floor.
27:16You have to weave through bullet-hell patterns while keeping track of Typhon's off-screen slams.
27:21Expect more than a few runbacks.
27:31Number 19. Hiroku. Nioh 3.
27:37I am an eternal immortal shogun. I shall make no defeat.
27:44Whether you're playing as a ninja or a samurai, Hiroku will make your life a living hell.
27:48Switching between elemental affinities, unleash grab attacks that can annihilate you depending on your build and basically lathering the battlefield
27:54with projectiles every other second,
27:56there is no room to breathe when it comes to this brawl.
27:59Your only hope for survival is hitting hard, hitting fast, hoping you'll smash his stagger bar and be able to
28:04whittle away his monstrous health.
28:06Either that, or spend hours attempting to build the most broken layout of all time.
28:10Either way, prepare for the struggle.
28:21Number 18. Laksasia the Complete. Lies of Pea.
28:30There are souls like, and then there's Lies of Pea.
28:33Channeling the essence of what makes FromSoft games great, this dark and brutal reimagining of Pinocchio hits all the right
28:39notes,
28:39including its extraordinarily challenging bosses.
28:42And among the roster, few come close to Laksasia and her ability to punish players into powder.
28:56Her first phase can be grueling unless you're adept with the parry system, especially with her swinging that great sword
29:01around like it's a paperweight.
29:02Then comes her second phase, where she literally brings the thunder.
29:14Good luck dealing with those projectiles and random bouts of teleportation.
29:25Number 17. Erlang Shen. Black Myth Wukong.
29:29I see. This is the only way. He had no choice. And neither did I.
29:39Ah yes. Heaven's ultimate hater.
29:42Erlang Shen is a multi-phase beast that tests every single mechanic you have learned up to this point.
29:47He possesses a gold-white shield that regenerates every time he lands a hit, making the act of maintaining momentum
29:52nearly impossible.
29:54He'll parry your heavy attacks too, mocking your timing before counter-attacking.
29:58Once you get far enough, the camera pulls back as you both transform into giants, having you first fight the
30:03four heavenly kings,
30:04and then Erlang in his giant form by himself, though they really aren't as hard as the first phase.
30:10Canceling your transformations and shredding your HP with projectiles, Erlang will make you earn the title of Monkey King.
30:27Number 16. Lost Lace. Hollow Knight Silksong.
30:39Look into the abyss and the abyss looks back. Or in this case, crushes you until you get good as
30:44Hornet would say.
30:45Lost Lace moves with a speed that borders on unreactable, leaving trails of void that act as environmental traps.
30:52If you touch these shadows, they sap your silk and prevent you from healing.
30:55The fight specifically punishes the pogo jump mechanic. If you try to leap over her, she executes an instant vertical
31:01upward thrust.
31:02In other words, you'll have to stay on the ground and dash through her attacks with perfect timing to beat
31:06her, but you can bet your backside that's going to take a hell of a long time.
31:17Number 15. Shibata Katsui. Nioh 2.
31:27Both a human and a yokai, Shibata Katsui has plenty of frustrating attacks in his repertoire that you'll need to
31:33learn before you can defeat him.
31:34Most important is remembering to dodge when he charges at you and then going in close for a combo as
31:39soon as he stops bouncing off the walls.
31:41Your best bet is to deal lots of poison damage to him because that's his weakness.
31:45Be wary, however, of the guardian spirit he can summon. This is an aggressive board that deals fire damage.
31:51Make sure you know what you're doing and load up on powerful equipment.
31:54With enough preparation, you might manage to beat Shibata Katsui without breaking any controllers.
32:02Number 14. Demi Fiend. Shin Megami Tensei V.
32:10You want a true JRPG challenge? One that on the surface appears borderline unfair?
32:15Well, say hello to the Demi Fiend.
32:17Former franchise protagonist turned recurring boss, you shouldn't even think about facing him unless your party of demons are leveled
32:23up to the max.
32:24He's completely resistant to all attacks except those of the Almighty Persuasion, which deal devastating damage to your whole group,
32:31can heal himself back to maximum health, and will constantly summon three other demons to help him out, who, by
32:36the way, are no slouches.

33:10Much like a certain skeleton we'll be getting to, the Roaring Knight uses the game's entire interface against you.
33:15He can move your HP bar across the screen, or hide the act and spare buttons behind television static.
33:21The bullet-held patterns are dense and move in unpredictable ways, reflecting the chaotic theme of the chapter.
33:26You have to coordinate three characters with different soul abilities, while the Knight creates barriers that restrict your movement.
33:32Basically, you have to solve UI-based puzzles on the go, while dodging barrages of high-speed projectiles.
33:38Even if you wanted to for some reason, there's no way to spare the Roaring Knight, so you'll have to
33:43fight no matter what.
33:51Number 12. Devil May Cry 5.
33:59Even if you're playing on Human difficulty to enjoy the game's absurd story and button-mashy combat, the stage bosses
34:05can still be quite tough, and Virgil is definitely the hardest.
34:09In Dante's final battle versus his brother, the first half of the fight is manageable if you keep moving and
34:14only attack when there's an opening.
34:16But, when Virgil uses his Devil Trigger halfway through, you'll need to either memorize his blazing-fast attack patterns in
34:22order to parry, or just run away like a coward.
34:25This fight calls for lots of patience when the majority of the game is spent on the offensive, and if
34:29you're overeager when facing Virgil, he's going to carve you up like a Thanksgiving turkey.
34:40Number 11. Sans Undertale.
34:52If you're brave enough to take the genocide route and challenge Sans and Undertale, you're likely the kind of gamer
34:57who is looking for punishing difficulty.
34:58Well, congrats. You've found it. You'll need to memorize these grueling minigame patterns within an inch of perfection while continuously
35:06dying over and over again due to their frustrating difficulty.
35:10Seriously, just watching some of these patterns makes us feel dizzy.
35:20There's no other way to progress this battle but to fight Sans, so make sure you bring as many recovery
35:25items with you as possible.
35:27He's not impossible, but he can sure feel like it at times.
35:48Like a lot of other hidden, optional bosses, Rodan's difficulty level is unlike anything else experienced in the main campaign.
35:54While the first Bayonetta game is quite challenging on its own, there's literally no room for error with Rodan, what
36:00with his blindingly fast speed and punishing attacks.
36:03One wrong move, and you'll lose most of your health bar or even be instantly killed.
36:14Also, halfway through the battle, Rodan starts using his most powerful attacks more regularly, making this fight seem almost unfair.
36:22Dodge, dodge, and dodge again.
36:24Be confident and precise in your attacks, and most importantly, may the video game gods smile upon you because you're
36:30gonna need all the help you can get.
36:40Number 9. Everdark Libra, Elden Ring Night Reign
36:50Thought tangling with a wish-granting madness spewing goat devil was tricky before?
36:55Now you can fight it on hard mode.
36:57Everdark Libra is a living nightmare.
36:59The arena is a chaotic zone of exploding attacks, and Libra periodically partitions the field with damaging holy walls to
37:05isolate players.
37:06You have to balance your focus between the boss and the condemned, NPC doppelgangers of your party, to prevent being
37:12overwhelmed by summons.
37:13This management mechanic forces you to switch targets constantly, all the while dodging homing attacks.
37:18Welcome to the FromSoft Madhouse.
37:27Number 8. Asma, The First Berserker, Kazan
37:30Kazan, why do you insist on fighting me? Don't you see? The real enemy is humanity.
37:39Revenge never comes easy, especially when the final boss is three phases of pure pain.
37:44When Asma isn't raining down elemental attacks, he's happily inflicting you with the Chaos status, which will make your demise
37:50come all the swifter unless you can cleanse yourself of it ASAP.
37:53And that's just the first phase. After a quick bit of ore farming, Asma will bombard you with projectiles and
37:58strikes that demand to be countered unless Kazan gets cut down.
38:01By the time you reach the third phase, you'll barely be hanging on by a thread.
38:12Number 7. The Nameless King, Dark Souls 3
38:19You can't say you've truly beaten Dark Souls 3 until you take down the Nameless King and his deadly Stormdrake,
38:25King of the Storm.
38:25It's a fight that has made even the best and most popular players rage quit time and time again.
38:31Once you've killed the King's steed, it's time to go head to head with the Nameless King himself, who's just
38:35as powerful as his pet monster.
38:45Another duel fight that can be a chore is the Ornstein and Small boss in the original game.
38:49Just like the Nameless King will absorb the electrical damage on the dragon, Ornstein and Small will take one another's
38:54powers depending on who you kill first.
39:03Number 6. Absolute Radiance, Hollow Knight
39:13The true boss at the end of this modern masterpiece of a Metroidvania, the Radiance is godly in everything but
39:18name,
39:19putting every player through their paces with an onslaught of attacks that all too quickly become overwhelming.
39:24And then along came the Godmaster DLC, and with it, a far more ferocious and challenging version, and that's saying
39:30something.
39:39Every attack is doubled in speed and scope, while the platforming elements become all the trickier to navigate.
39:44Honestly, if you manage to conquer this fight following the unparalleled brutality that is the Pantheon of Hallownest,
39:49you have our respect.
39:57Number 5. Milenia, Blade of Micola, Elden Ring
40:10You know her, you hate her, you've been slaughtered by her a million times, she's the hardest battle in the
40:16entirety of Elden Ring's base game,
40:18and easily one of the most challenging bosses FromSoft has ever conjured up.
40:21The reach of Milenia's blade and the speed in which she can land attacks are insane, with every hit adding
40:27to her own health pool.
40:28Then there's her infamous Waterfowl Dance, a series of slashes that will tear you apart if you don't at least
40:33dodge a few of her swings.
40:44And that's just phase 1.
40:46Once she transforms into the Goddess of Rot, you're going to have to deal with all of that,
40:50plus explosions of Scarlet Rot that will disintegrate your health should you linger too close.
41:01Number 4. Orphan of Kos, Bloodborne, The Old Hunters
41:12As if the bosses in Bloodborne weren't tough enough, the Old Hunters DLC went ahead and upped the difficulty and
41:18gave us some of the toughest baddies in the entire Souls series.
41:21And Kos is definitely up there as one of the hardest.
41:25If his loud shrieking doesn't wreck your nerves, the second phase of his battle sure will.
41:36Paraying is key to the first stage of the fight, but staying still for long enough to even think of
41:40paraying in the second stage feels like a death sentence,
41:43thanks to Kos's insane leap attacks and powerful lightning charges.
41:47Practice makes perfect, yeah, but you'll need a bit of luck upending old Kos.
42:01Number 3. Simon the Divergent Star, Claire Obscure, Expedition 33
42:13Simon was already one of the hardest bosses in Expedition 33, so naturally the developers decided to up the ante
42:19with a stronger version as part of their thank you update.
42:21For starters, he always moves first, and he always uses his 9-hit multi-sweep slash, which can instantly wipe
42:27your whole party provided it hits,
42:29which is likely since this version of him has way tighter parry and dodge windows.
42:33If that doesn't do it, he'll cast canvas removal in his second phase, swapping out your entire team.
42:38If at any point he kills one of your party members, he gets to move again.
42:41He is the ultimate challenge for you, for us, and for those who come after.
42:53Number 2. Isshin the Sword Saint, Shadows Die Twice
43:06In previous FromSoftware games, you could always summon another gamer to help you with tough bosses.
43:11Not so in Sekiro, however, as there's no multiplayer available, so you're on your own.
43:17Sure, the first stage of this battle isn't that hard, as a well-timed deflect leaves Isshin open to damage,
43:22but the second stage of this fight is insane and is really all about survival.
43:26Isshin's Giant Spear is much harder to deflect and has way more range than his sword,
43:30so it's best to just stay clear of him unless you're a deflecting master.
43:34Get the occasional shot in when you can, but do not linger, as Isshin's combo attacks are brutal.
43:46Number 1. Promised Consort Radan
43:49Shadow of the Earth Tree
44:03While nerfs and patches may have taken off some of the totality of just how broken Radan was upon release,
44:08make no mistake, he still remains in contention for the hardest Souls boss of all time, and that's no small
44:14feat.
44:14Gravity magic, blood magic, crazy sword swings with minimal margins for dodges, that's rough enough as it is.
44:20But then Micola comes along and kicks off the craziest second phase in FromSoft history.
44:25Drowning every attack in holy magic, a grab that will instantly end you if you get caught twice,
44:30plus the return of Radan's classic meteor crash, it all accumulates in a boss that will test you like few
44:35can.
