00:00This is Bruno. He's a disabled dog we rescued over a week ago and today we're gonna try and
00:05take him outside on a walk for the first time in his life. But first we need to start picking

00:12poo and we're gonna have a slightly different morning this morning because Zaza has got a
00:18meet and greet with her potential adopters and they've got a dog called Hudson. So let's go to
00:26that and get Zaza to beat Hudson for the first time. Hopefully they're gonna get along.
00:44So Zaza was a little scared and unsure of the whole situation she was in so we brought her best
00:51friend
00:51Rebecca out to see if it would help boost her confidence. You've got one job to do here
00:55Becca all right. Oh she's excited. Her hackles have gone up with excitement.
00:59Oh look at Zaza. Good girl.

01:06Good girl.
01:07Yeah I'll hold her.
01:08She's like hello let's be friends and she's like I'm busy. I'm busy.
01:13Good girl. Good shape.
01:17It helped a bit but not loads so we brought out Kaya, Kobe and Moki so that Zaza had her
01:24entire
01:25support system with her and we couldn't believe how different she was.
01:29I think you're struggling.
01:31Kobe's I'll take some.
01:32Lissaza's I've taken it quick now.
01:34Look at her.
01:35He's like I know all the tricks.
01:39Kobe's just happy to be here.
01:42Oh and by the way if you remember Kola, a tiny dog we rescued a few months ago, when our
01:47neighbour adopted him, we ran into them on the walk and look how big and brave he's gotten.
02:09So to no surprise, Teagan and Tyler decided they wanted to adopt Zaza and we've since
02:15had some updates on her, Zaza took only about half a day to settle into her new space, she's
02:21already playing with all her toys and Hudson.
02:25Her name has also changed to Zala.
02:27It's so sad to see them go but when we get updates like this, it's just so incredible
02:31to see how we helped change that dog's life forever.
02:34So Zala's story ended amazingly but now it's time to continue working on Bruno's because
02:40we're going to attempt to walk him for the first time.
02:43So first, we need to get a harness on him.
02:47Good boy.
02:48And then I'll just move it towards his face.
02:50He's not doing too bad.
02:53Oh.
02:54Yes.
02:55Good boy.
02:57Good boy.
02:59Clever boy.
03:01No, not the whole pouch.
03:03Then Dilnaz clips the lead on him and we try and get him used to the feeling of the lead
03:08and walking on it.
03:09So I'm not going to pull him if he doesn't want to walk.
03:12I'm going to give him a moment.
03:14It might be the first time he's ever, ever had any kind of leading harness on.
03:18Probably.
03:19Yeah.
03:19Yeah.
03:20So the only time he's had it wasn't a great experience.
03:23Yeah.
03:23And the chances are lots of rescues use slip leads, which is understandable.
03:26I get why they do it.
03:28So it's hard for him.
03:30He probably associates lead with it hurting.
03:33Yeah.
03:34So all I do is just keep the lead nice and loose.
03:37So there's no pressure from me whatsoever.
03:39Yeah.
03:39And then let him just feel the weight of it.
03:42And I'm going to add more weight to it by like releasing it more little by little.

03:51That's really good.
03:52So it's baby steps with him.

03:54So again, I'm just going to step away.
03:56And it's when I say lead pressure, there's no tugging or anything, right?

04:19had a lead and harness on him properly.

04:21I think the whole sensation of it is new to him.

04:25But it's progress from what you were saying about, you know, how he freaked out over having
04:29the harness on.
04:31And also, it's progress from when I put the lead on him and he just, he went.

04:48He's really using that sniffer as well.
04:50He's like, hang on.

05:03She almost opened the door there.

05:06Bruno is ready to start him to look so much more comfortable on the lead.
05:10So it's time to take him to the front door and see what he does.
05:13So when the front door opens, he's going to get bombarded by sight, sounds and smells.
05:19So he'll probably want to investigate, but we don't want to force him out.
05:23Okay.
05:24Not that I'm saying you ever would because I know you wouldn't, but let him do it at
05:28his own pace because there's so many new things happening for him here.
05:31So again, I could use a treat and lure him out, but I don't want to put that pressure
05:36on him because he'll follow the food and then he might eat the food and go, I don't like
05:41this.
05:42This is really scary.
05:43He's not sure, but that's okay.
05:45That's a big step for you.
05:47The good thing is here.
05:49Okay.
05:49He hasn't freaked out and he's not trying to pull away.
05:52Yeah.
05:53So he's happy to explore at this pace.

05:57And that's what we do.
05:58We slowly build up his confidence.
06:00And then what you can even do is like, you know, in terms of like free work, like set
06:04some up here, like a few cones here and like a few bits here.
06:07So he kind of goes, Oh, what's that?

06:11Sniffing the letterbox, sniffing the mailman.
06:14Oh my God.

06:23We could not believe Bruno stepped outside and wanted to go and explore.
06:28We were all shocked and so excited.
06:31He then even went to explore even more.
06:34Oh my God.
06:34He's walking.
06:36Oh my goodness me.
06:37Look at that.
06:39Oh, Bruno.
06:40The bins.
06:41It'll probably be the bins attracting him.
06:43He might.
06:43Let's see if he tries to go back.
06:45He literally looks like he's just landed on another planet.
06:48He is feeling a little bit overwhelmed.
06:50So we do need to make sure that he decompresses after.
06:53Bruno was being super brave until somebody cut in the grass came near him.
06:57This is part of socialization.
06:59Oh, it's okay.
07:00What happened?
07:01I missed it.
07:01Oh, he's got scared.
07:03And he shut down.
07:04We were honestly so happy.
07:06We had Dylan as with us when this happens because we could see how scared and unsure Bruno was.
07:12Right.

07:13So I think he did submit initially.
07:16Yeah.
07:17Like he was like, don't harm me.
07:18I'm not a threat to you.
07:20Yeah.
07:20But then he where he came into my hand.
07:23I think he was looking for content like that.
07:25He's looking for contact and looking for reassurance.
07:29Oh, that's so sad.
07:31The thing is though, I'm a bit worried he's shutting down.
07:33Yeah.
07:33So we just need to be careful.
07:34Dylan has asked the man to turn the machine off as we had a scared rescue.
07:38He very kindly did.
07:39And we then picked Bruno up and took him back inside and stopped the session.
07:44This is what could happen in the real world.
07:46But when we got back inside, we were really happy to see Bruno seem to shake it off.
07:50Dylan has then told us to give him a chew to help him de-stress after that incident.
07:54Bruno did amazing on his first walk.
07:57It's something we can definitely progress with him moving forward.
08:00But now we've got to show you the progress of our two scared dogs, Bagel and Jockey.
08:05So it was nighttime and Bruno was like moving some rugs around.
08:09And then Bagel decided he's had enough and told him to go to sleep.
08:14And then we have Jockey, who yes, is there laying in our lounge next to Ella.
08:20At one point, she even came onto the sofa.
08:23We cannot believe the progress she has made.

09:01He's adorable and his name is Nico.
09:04So this is Nico.
09:06As you can see, he's absolutely terrified.
09:08So he was also from the terrible kill shelter where basically dogs had to fight for their own food.
09:13The people that own the shelter were pocketing the money.
09:16And you can see the poor damage he's done.
09:18He's basically one of the most scared dogs in the entire shelter and probably the oldest.
09:24He's so cute.
09:25So apparently he'll come out, eat his food, have a drink and then basically just be in here the entire
09:29day.
09:30Poor thing.
09:30So every donation helps support dogs just like Nico.
09:34He deserves a second chance because it's not his fault that he was put in that terrible, terrible shelter.
09:39And you can see sadly the damage that has now been done.
09:43You can just see the pain in his eyes as well.
09:46Really, really sad.
09:47But Happy Shelter and Kamau have been amazing enough to take all of those dogs from that terrible shelter and
09:53give them another chance.
09:54Nico is adorable, bless him.
09:56But now something huge is happening because Becca has her first meet and greet for a possible adoption.
10:02But first we're taking Becca to the vets to get a checkup on her poor.
10:06Poor is all good.
10:07So now it's time for Becca to meet her potential new family.
10:11Who's that Becca girl?
10:12Look at her.
10:20She's got such a nice personality.
10:27So they're going to get back to us with Becca as more of the family needs to meet her first.
10:31And of course, we need to speak about what we're going to do with her poor.
