Lola arrived as a terrified Golden Retriever puppy with almost no confidence, but everything began to change when she bonded with Cookie, one of the other rescues in the pack. What starts as a shy, uncertain first morning turns into a heartwarming rescue story about trust, puppy socialisation, crate training, and helping a nervous dog learn that the world is safe again.

As Lola slowly comes out of her shell, the video follows her progress through confidence-building games, free work, noise box training, and positive crate training. Cookie becomes her emotional support friend, and the pair grow closer while the team checks for food aggression, takes all five dogs to a private enclosed field, and gives them a fun day out. The story ends with a meet and greet, an adoption update, and the hopeful chance that Lola and Cookie can stay together forever.

Perfect for anyone who loves dog rescue videos, Golden Retriever puppy transformations, animal rehabilitation, and wholesome pet adoption stories. It is also a great watch for viewers searching for dog training content, rescue dog bonding, puppy confidence building, and emotional animal videos.

Golden Retriever rescue, puppy adoption story, dog bonding, and confidence training all come together here in a feel-good animal video that mixes cute puppy moments with real rescue work. 00:00When we first met Lola, she was completely terrified.
00:04She's a golden retriever puppy who'd lost all her confidence.
00:07But then she met one of our rescues, Cookie, and almost immediately, something just clicked between them.
00:14It honestly felt like these two were meant to find each other.
00:17Now we have to see if that bond grows stronger over time, because if it does, there's one huge problem.
00:22Finding a forever home for one puppy is hard enough.
00:25Finding someone willing to adopt two together is almost impossible.
00:30But if these two really are meant to be together, can we give them the fairy tale ending they deserve?
00:38So we first rescued Lola two weeks ago.
00:41She met our entire pack of four other dogs and got on really well with them.
00:45But she's clearly lacking confidence.
00:48On her first night, she ended up sleeping in the room with me because she couldn't settle downstairs.
00:53So here's how Lola's very first morning went.
00:57Morning, little one.
01:00Come on.
01:01Come on, Lola.
01:04She's clearly woken up unsure and really scared.
01:07So I managed to get her out of her crate.
01:10And she was literally just hugging me.
01:14Bless her.
01:15Look at her.
01:16I'm going to now bring her downstairs.
01:18See how she gets on when she sees the other dogs.
01:21And she's still super scared and super confused.
01:24Poor thing.
01:26She's so excited to see the dogs.
01:28Here comes Cookie.
01:33Here comes Monkey.
01:36Oh, that is adorable.
01:39I tried to put the dogs out.
01:41And although Lola was scared to go outside, as soon as Cookie does, just watch Lola.
01:45Good girl, Cookie.
01:47Good dog.
01:48Oh, it is horrible, horrible weather.
01:51Dogs have been out to go to the toilet, apart from this one.
01:55Thank you, Francis.
01:59Oh, yeah.
02:00And this is one of our other rescues, Francis.
02:03There's another toilet.
02:04She barely went yesterday.
02:05So this is really good.
02:08Oh, there's a weeping Cookie.
02:09I let the dogs back in.
02:12Francis is still a bit unsure of Lola, but you can see just how submissive this girl is.
02:17Francis, Francis.
02:19Good boy.
02:21Hello.
02:22Hello, Cookie.
02:23The good news is Lola's already making progress.
02:27Yesterday, she was pretty much frozen in one spot.
02:30But today, she's finally starting to move around.
02:33She's still got a long way to go, though.
02:35She needs to build her confidence.
02:36So we've put together this checklist.
02:39And by the end of the video, our goal is to tick off every single one.
02:43Come on, Moki.
02:44Come, Coby.
02:45Come on, man.
02:46I brought Coby and Moki back in.
02:47And just look how excited she is to see them.
02:50And how much confidence she gets from other dogs.
02:53Good girl, Lola.
02:54Oh, she's so excited to see them.
02:57She's terrified of Francis.
03:00Coby.
03:01She doesn't understand the pack dynamics yet.
03:04She looks like she's exploring a little bit more, which is good.
03:08There she goes.
03:10That's good.
03:12Super submissive still, as you can see.
03:15I think Francis isn't entirely sure what to do with her.
03:21Good girl.
03:23She's being good?
03:24So I'm getting their food ready.
03:26And this is the perfect time to tick off our first goal, crate training.
03:30So we tried putting her to sleep in a crate last night.
03:33And this is how that went.
03:38Not so good.
03:39So I'm going to put her breakfast in a crate to associate positive things with it.
03:43All the other dogs are in.
03:45I'm being fed.
03:46Francis is there.
03:48Coby and Moki are outside.
03:50So now it's time for you, Lola.
03:52And you.
03:54Come on, Lola.
03:55I'm going to have it in your crate.
03:56Come on.
03:58Come on.
03:59All right.
04:01She didn't want to go in.
04:02So I put her in.
04:04She seemed pretty scared at first.
04:05But once I put the bowl at the front so she could see, she seems pretty happy in there.
04:09Okay, that's the morning done.
04:12Lola is outside after they have all eaten.
04:16She seems to be going out and about with the pack a bit more, which is really good.
04:20She's not frozen in one place like yesterday.
04:22So I think she's starting to trust them.
04:24And you can see her tail's still quite tucked.
04:26But then we noticed something.
04:28She seemed to start bonding with one dog.
04:31So Lola's definitely starting to cling on to Cookie.
04:33I think probably because it's kind of the only dog that likes her at the moment.
04:37I then put toys down for the first time.
04:40You always have to be careful putting toys down with so many dogs because some can resource guard.
04:45So let's see how this goes.
04:48There she goes.
04:50I don't know why, but there's nothing cuter than a puppy playing with her toys.
04:54Cookie's going to come and have a look.
04:57Okay, I need to monitor Cookie because I don't know what she's like with toys yet.
05:00So we can keep an eye on her.
05:03Here we go, Cookie's got a toy.
05:05Time to see if she knows how to share it.
05:07It looks like she does.
05:09Oh, that's adorable.
05:11Oh, Moki told her off.
05:13The dogs, especially Moki, Francis, wherever you're serious, and Kobe are absolutely knackered today.
05:23I think because this one was crying until midnight.
05:25The older dogs are so tired.
05:27I cannot believe I've just called Moki the older dog.
05:29I mean, she's only three, but ten months, four months.
05:34He's five.
05:36Kobe's six or seven.
05:38So crate training continues for Lola.
05:40We gave her lunch, and we'll put her in there for naps.
05:44It's important to crate train her so that she doesn't show anything dangerous at night,
05:48but also to teach her how to settle.
05:50Puppies can get overtired in non-stop wonder, but they need their rest.
05:55And Lola did actually manage to settle, so hopefully tonight is smoother than last night,
06:00and we have a plan.
06:01Okay, the next night, we have put Lola next to Cookie.
06:06Cookie has become her best friend.
06:08We put some treats in their crates.
06:10We've moved Francis to here, so let's see how she gets on tonight.
06:15Fingers crossed.
06:17Not a single sound from her.
06:19Looks like we can tick off our first goal.
06:21And the next day, Lola and Cookie really started to become best friends.
06:27Look at these two.
06:29They're really becoming best friends.
06:33That is absolutely adorable.
06:36I think it's really nice for Lola to have a friend, obviously after she didn't get on with the other
06:40dog.
06:40So Lola's a UK surrender.
06:42She was given up because their other resident dog didn't get on with her.
06:46It's nice that she's still able to trust dogs.
06:48And her personality is really starting to come out now.
06:51She's beginning to act like a normal puppy.
07:17We really want to keep this momentum going, so it's time to begin confidence training with her.
07:22The first thing we're doing is called free work.
07:25We've scattered a bunch of everyday objects around the floor, then hidden treats in and around them.
07:30To get the rewards, Lola has to use her nose, explore and figure things out for herself.
07:37That's important because every little success helps her build confidence.
07:40Instead of us asking her to do something she's not ready for, she's making her own choices.
07:46Discovering that new things aren't so scary and learning that the world can actually be a fun place to explore.
07:52Good girl.
07:55There's another one here.
07:57Very slowly, it's okay.
08:00She did really well.
08:02There were a few setbacks where she'd get a bit scared of a noise something made.
08:05So we decided to move on to our next confidence building game, Noise Box.
08:10So the first thing we did was simply put treats in a box.
08:14We wanted to start off really easy for her.
08:16Even having to sniff around with the box making noise is going to be a big deal for her.
08:21Her back.
08:22Next one.
08:23Yeah.
08:24See how the noise gets like speed and see how she's leaning forward as well?
08:28That's because she's cautious.
08:30Good girl.
08:33Well done.
08:35Good girl.
08:36Then we put in some paper.
08:37Now this is basically a snuffle mat for her and she's got to really submerge her head in the box
08:43and move around this loud paper to get the treats.
08:45The idea here is to show her that when something makes a noise and scares her,
08:50nothing bad actually happens.
08:51She's nowhere near as jumpy now to the noises.
08:55She can move the box now.
08:58Yeah, she's starting to get more confident now.
09:03She's leaning forward a bit there.
09:06Yeah, she's starting to get more confident.
09:10She did really well, but to progress this, sometimes pairing them up with a more confident dog can really help.
09:16So let's bring in her best friend, Cookie, and see if it makes a difference.
09:21All right, come on, Cookie.
09:23Come on, Crazy.
09:24Good girl.
09:24Come on, Cookie.
09:26Cookie.
09:27Good girl.
09:29Hello.
09:31Oh, look what we're doing.
09:34See how she's nowhere near?
09:36She's like, now, look.
09:37Her head is fully...
09:38She's like, hang on a sec.
09:39Let me get in there.
09:40Look, her head is fully submerged in it now.
09:42What a difference.
09:44She looks so much more confident.
09:46When Lola eventually goes to her forever home,
09:48we really need to try our best to get these two adopted together.
09:53We can now happily tick off Build Confidence.
09:56And if these two were to get adopted together,
09:59we want to make sure neither of them have food aggression when there's high reward treats around.
10:04So let's test them and see how they do.
10:08So we have both of them high reward licky mats, and we're going to set up a gate between them,
10:13put both licky mats next to each other, and see if there's any aggressive behavior towards the other.
10:22Okay, so what I want to see is Cookie sometimes will like, walk off.
10:28And I just want to see if there's any brows or anything.
10:33Because when she walks off like that, I'm not sure how much Lola lights it.
10:39She doesn't seem to mind that.
10:40Cookie didn't really care about the lick mat, but Lola was doing really well with her wandering around.
10:45So now we're going to open up the gate, and I'm going to be on standby just in case anything
10:50goes wrong.
10:53Good start, but what's going to happen when the dogs start moving around each other's food?
11:01That's not good. I'll have a dog.
11:03I was so good.
11:04Yeah, you can have wine. I'll have a dog.
11:05Okay, that's a dog.
11:07Okay, so absolutely no food aggression. Food test with Cookie complete.
11:11We're about to take all five dogs we have to a private field. It's going to be so much fun.
11:16But before that, I need to give you an update on their adoption.
11:21So we have put up Cookie and Lola together because obviously hopefully we can get them adopted out.
11:30It is really hard to try and get two dogs adopted together and we've been struggling.
11:34So we're going to keep them up for a few more days and hopefully somebody comes in for the both
11:41of them
11:41because they are like two peas in a pod.
11:43But if they don't, we will make sure that Lola, when she does get adopted, definitely goes with another dog.
11:50And the same with Cookie. If she does get adopted, they both need to go with dogs.
11:54But hopefully they can go together. Let's see.
11:58Stick around to see if we actually manage to get them adopted together.
12:01But for now, let's take all five dogs on a doggy day out.
12:06All right, we have arrived. This place is like an enclosed field.
12:11But there is like a gate that Ella can close there so that they can actually be off the lead.
12:17She's just closed it. So first two dogs, we can get out of these two. Go on then.
12:23Whoa, what's that? Then we can let Kobe and Mokey out.
12:27Yes. Whoa, Kobe and Mokey.
12:30And then, time to let out this boy. Come on then, Francis. Come on, mate. Come on, Francis. Come on,
12:38mate. Come on. Yeah, good boy.
12:41So this field is completely enclosed, which means all the dogs can run around completely free. Let's have some fun.
12:48Come on. Good girl. Come on, Lola. Come on. Good girl. Cookie. Come on, Cookie. Yeah, good girl.
12:58That is so cute. How cute is that? Go on then.
13:02You'll notice that Lola literally just follows Cookie everywhere. Lola is literally Cookie Shadow.
13:10Look, now she's going to stop. Let's see. And straight to Cookie. She's obsessed with her.
13:18Me and Ella decided to play a little game, see if I could catch her if she had a head
13:22start,
13:23and look how much fun the dogs found it. All right, go. Go. One, two, three, four, five, six. I'm
13:33going to go.
13:44We are going to go on to this apparatus thingy and see what dog will come on. Good boy.
13:51Cookie, come on. Come on. Come on, Lola. Come on, be brave. Oh, what's that, Cookie? Cookie's laying down in
13:59here. Look out.
14:01Good girl. Sorry, Francis. Can't pick you up to go in there. You'll bite me.
14:06Good dog. Oh, look at her. She's got a sand tache. Look at her sand tache. Come on in, dogs.
14:12Wow, that was good. Come on, Cookie. Come on. Good girl. They literally had the time of their life here.
14:19Nothing makes me happier than seeing dogs run around free. I guess that means we can now cross off
14:24doggy day out and I've got an awesome update for you guys. So we have finally had an inquiry for
14:33the
14:33two of these. We're going to see how it goes. They have got a meet and greet, but obviously taking
14:39on
14:39two pups is a lot. Yep. Thank you, Francis. Taking on two pups is going to be a lot. So
14:46let's see how it
14:47goes. But there is a chance that they may get a W together. And this one, we don't know what
14:52we're going to
14:52do with this one. So there's a chance these two might actually get their fairy tale ending and
14:59be adopted together. As the days went on, Lola continued to come out her shell and honestly
15:05just became closer and closer with Cookie. These two are literally best friends. I mean,
15:10look how patient Cookie is with her. But to be honest, Cookie just loves her. So we knew from the
15:16first day that these two were probably going to be best friends. And it's absolutely adorable just
15:22watching them play. Sorry for the beeping. My breakfast is ready. She arrived to us as this
15:27super scared puppy who had lost all confidence. And she's now a completely different dog. It's been
15:33a pretty amazing transformation. But now we need to wash both Lola and Cookie so they're ready for their
15:40meet and greet. It is a really hot day today. So we're going to wash Cookie and Lola together.
15:48We've kind of like sectioned off this little area here so that basically we're hoping they kind of
15:54become like each other's emotional support whilst they are getting washed. Good girl. We're going to
15:59start by taking their collars off. Good girl. Oh, there you go. Who wants to go first? Cookie,
16:07so you can show Lola how it's done. Right, we're going to put a lead on you. I have got
16:11a lead on them just
16:12because we're not sure how else to actually keep them here. We're just going to do a nice normal
16:20temperatures nice. Good girl. Oh, good girl. Shampoo time. Oh, look at her tail. That tail just did a little
16:34work when you came closer. Oh, yes. Get right in there, cooks. She's got your tail. I think she's been
16:40washed before. Yeah, I think so. She did so good. Be interested to see how Lola is. Yeah.
16:47Nothing happened there, Cookie, mate. Oh, look at Lola. Oh, she's groovy. She's groovy. She's having a sniff.
16:55Oh, she's shaking off herself. So satisfying watching everything just like coming on. Right, Cookie,
17:01you are going to stay here because next is Lola. Yeah. Lola's time. Oh, she's a bit frightened.
17:11Good girl. Good girl. Okay. Cookie, you need to come here. Give us some emotional support.
17:18Good girls. That's all right.
17:21There you go. Good girl. Well done, Cookie. That's right. You stay around here for emotional support.
17:28Oh, okay. Let's do some shampoo on you. Golden Retrievers have got that famous double coat.
17:35So even though she hasn't got her full Golden Retriever for you, well done, Cookie. That is adorable.
17:40Yeah. Does she look like she's enjoying it? No. She looks like this is the worst thing we've ever
17:43put her through. Sorry, Lola. You needed this wash and you've got to be nice and smelling good so that
17:50you two can get adopted together. I washed Lola down with the hose and it's time to let them free.
17:56Let's...
17:57Oh, she just shook off all next to me. Let them out into the garden. Come on then, dogs.
18:02Come on then. Yeah. Well done, you two. Well done, Lola.
18:10Oh my God, they are soaked. Lola. She's like, that was not fun. What on earth was that?
18:16Oh my God. You're very wet. Bath time complete. All that's left now is their meet and greet.
18:24We're so close to actually pulling off this amazing adoption story. Fingers crossed.
18:30So sweet. So the reason we were cooking...
18:33She's a real cover, bud. Yeah.
18:35The reason we wanted them to go together is she was a lot more shy when we first got her.
18:40What a difference in Lola, by the way. Look at how confident she now is meeting someone new.
18:45The meet and greet went amazing. So now we patiently wait to see if this couple decide to adopt both
18:51dogs
18:51together. Hello. These two are so bonded. It's so funny. Hello Mokey. Look, if I start petting another
18:58dog. Here we go. She gets super jealous now. Hello. Yes. Hello dogs. Oh my God. Okay. Here goes Francis.
19:07We eagerly awaited a message from them. Lola and Cookie continued their amazing friendship
19:12until we finally got the message.
19:16They said hi. We absolutely love Cookie and Lola and we'd be delighted to give them a home with us.
19:21We did it. I can't believe we actually managed to find a home for the two of them.
19:26We had the dogs for about another five days until the day finally came. Adoption day.
19:32We have a whole bag of goodies. So there's a long line. I've done a bag of kibble. I've done
19:39two
19:39like Matt. All of their info. I've done chews for each dog. So they are well stocked up with a
19:47dilly bag.
19:47All the dogs had their final play. Ella put their harnesses on them and they are so happy to be
19:53reunited with their new forever family. It's actually been a few days since they've been adopted
19:58and they're getting on amazing together. Now we can actually tick off our final goal. So happy these two
20:06got their fairytale ending. Hope you enjoyed the video. Why not watch another? YouTube thinks this
20:11video on screen is perfect for you to watch next. See you there.
