Former Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang takes the witness stand on the 24th day of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial on Monday, Sept. 14.

Cabotaje-Tang is the prosecution’s first witness as the Senate impeachment court begins tackling Article II, which accuses Duterte of allegedly acquiring unexplained wealth. The prosecution is expected to qualify her as an expert witness on public accountability and integrity in public office.

01:25Justice Amparo Cabotahetang served as presiding justice of the Sandigan Bayan from 2013 to 2024.
01:33Before her appointment to the Sandigan Bayan, she served for 30 years in the office of the Solicitor General from
01:411982 until her appointment as justice in 2012.
01:45The prosecution respectfully offers the testimony of Justice Tang to prove that she has specialized knowledge, skill, experience, training, and
01:56education to testify as an expert on public accountability
01:59and for the purpose of providing this impeachment court with a framework for understanding and evaluating the financial and documentary
02:08evidence that the prosecution will subsequently present.
