00:00We're learning a little more this afternoon about the condition of the Minnesota Vikings
00:04starting quarterback Kyler Murray, who left the first quarter of the game Sunday with a concussion.
00:09Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell speaking just a short time ago.
00:14Just updating on Kyler. He came in feeling pretty good today. He is in the protocol,
00:19so we'll defer to the medical folks in that protocol for how the week goes. We'll just
00:27take it a day at a time. Other than that, don't have a lot of updates on that.
00:31The Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers inside U.S. Bank Stadium, winning 39-22 in Week 1.
00:37The recently named backup quarterback Carson Wentz came through, leading the team to victory.
00:43No word yet on whether or not Wentz will be playing against the Bears.
00:48A couple points I want to hear from you on Murray here. What did you think about the throw where
00:52he
00:52just throws it up, where it looks like 19 Packers are about to tackle him, and then it's not a
01:00great
01:00slide. Did you have any problem with the hit by the two Packer players?
01:07I mean, the throw was, I thought that was the guy being nervous and just, you know, first game
01:14in New York from doing something. I mean, I'm sure he regrets doing that.
01:18The slide, I don't know. I mean, those things happen so fast. It's really hard to, you know,
01:26get inside a tent in someone's head and get inside a tent. Obviously, the first one, you
01:31know, kind of dislodged his helmet and brought it up, and so that left him vulnerable. But
01:37with those things, they're so fast.
01:38So fast.
01:39I don't know. I know guys, you know, people take exception to them. It's just hard to know
01:44in 10. But obviously,
01:47O'Connell had no problem. O'Connell's asked about it today. He says, it's a violent play.
01:52I don't have any fault with it. Which is also kind of a KOC thing to say.
01:56Well, that's it. Yeah. And, you know, because, you know, one of his players might be in that
02:00same situation. It's hard when those guys are playing so fast that, okay, I'm going to pull
02:03up. But I will say, I'm always, it always gives me kind of a pit in my stomach when
02:08I see a player have the fencing posture.
02:10Yes, exactly.
02:12And if people don't know that, when you see the, you know, the severe concussions or,
02:16you know, a lot of those real traumas, they have the arms raised.
02:21And players, you know, a number of players, Aaron Jones mentioned that posture and how much
02:27it really bothers players when they see that. Luckily, you know, he was able to walk off
02:33and we saw him in the locker room. He obviously didn't do any interviews, but he was, you
02:36know, talking to teammates and teammates and he seemed to be, you know, in good spirits,
02:42at least to the extent that we could tell. I don't know what that means this week, but
02:46when a guy has that kind of concussion, I guess I'd be a little surprised if he played
02:50Sunday.
