00:01Good evening, Joe. This is just a horrifically sad incident. We understand that police were
00:07called to this address behind me in Auburn around 2 o'clock this afternoon following reports that
00:13a young girl had been hit by a car. Police have now confirmed that a three-year-old girl has
00:18been
00:18killed. We understand that she was hit by a car as it was emerging into the driveway behind me
00:24in what we understand was a communal driveway used by a few people that frequent this street.
00:31Now, the girl was taken to hospital with critical conditions where she later died. We do know that
00:37the driver of the vehicle was a 27-year-old man, but police do not believe that he was known
00:42to the
00:42child or that he was family. Police, of course, have begun investigating this matter. A short time ago,
00:50forensics officers arrived and are now collecting evidence, and no doubt we'll learn more about the
00:55exact circumstances of how this occurred in the coming days, Joe.
