00:00The humanitarian situation in Yemen right now is really worrying.
00:06We are witnessing a new humanitarian crisis emerging inside Yemen.
00:15We are talking about Yemen's western coast along the Red Sea.
00:21In multiple locations, the latest round of hostilities has displaced more than 100,000 people inside Yemen.
00:34We are also seeing thousands of people crossing the Red Sea, becoming refugees and arriving inside Djibouti.
00:46The number we have today is more than 2,400 people who had to flee these latest round of clashes.
00:58And our colleagues who are receiving these people displaced inside Yemen or those who are becoming refugees are saying they
01:07are literally coming with nothing.
01:09They have just fled the fighting. Majority of them are women and children.
01:16And inside Djibouti, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is mounting a humanitarian response where we are deploying more colleagues, more
01:28resources to help those who are arriving from Yemen.
01:31Talk to me about the western areas that you are describing where people are worst affected.
01:37Do your teams have access and what are they able to provide?
01:42Let's not forget, working in Yemen, even before this latest round of fighting and conflict and hostilities, has not been
01:52easy.
01:53Yemen as a location or a country has been in turmoil for too long.
01:58Yemen, even before this round of fighting started, Yemen has a population of 35 million people.
02:07Nearly 20 million people in Yemen were dependent on humanitarian support.
02:15We also have a big population of refugees from Somalia and Ethiopia in Yemen also.
02:23So it has been really challenging in terms of access already.
02:27And this just makes our humanitarian response much more difficult.
02:33So that's why those who have been affected by this latest round of fighting, we as humanitarians, we need urgent
02:43access to them.
02:45Many that we are helping, but we need more safety for our own colleagues to reach to those who have
02:51been affected just now.
02:54In Djibouti, UNICR is working with the local authorities and with the government for those who are arriving there.
03:01We are trying to help the authorities to move thousands of refugees that have arrived from Yemen now from the
03:09remote location where we can assist them, help them.
03:12But people are saying, or our colleagues are saying, it's really a desperate situation both inside Yemen and also in
03:20Djibouti.
