Pace Gallery presents Knotting, Tying, Folding, an exhibition of sculptures by Lynda Benglis, at 540 West 25th Street from September 11 to October 24. The presentation features glazed ceramic, bronze, pleated, and paper works made between 1972 and 2024, together with rarely exhibited glass sculptures from 1985.Since the late 1960s Benglis has produced flowing forms in materials ranging from beeswax, latex, and foam to plaster, metals, glass, ceramics, and paper. Working in the context of Postminimalism, she distinguished herself through vivid color and organic surfaces while investigating the boundaries of painting and sculpture. The exhibition includes Sparkle Knot IV (1972), 1980s gold-leafed and metallized pleated works, 1985 sand-cast glass sculptures, folded ceramics from the 2010s, recent reflective bronzes, paper sculptures from 2016–2020, and the multi-part floor piece Elephant Necklace (2016). Together these works illustrate her sustained use of knotting, tying, and folding across more than five decades.
