Prime Minister Andy Burnham says that the UK’s relationship with Ireland “matters so much” and that the two countries are working to “uphold the principles of the Good Friday Agreement” as it nears its 30th anniversary. 00:00The relationship between the UK and Ireland matters so much on every single level.
00:07Close to home, as co-custodians of the Good Friday Agreement,
00:12we are working together to uphold its principles as we approach the 30th anniversary next year.
00:19In Europe, we are looking forward to a UK-EU summit later this year
00:26and with Ireland in the presidency wanting to take further steps to deepen the relationship with Europe.
00:35And then, behold, if I could say to you, on behalf of everybody in the Coalition of the Willing,
00:41the role that you have played working with us to support Ukraine through this difficult time,
00:46we appreciate that too.
00:49From here, we will go to the oldest Irish club in the United Kingdom,
00:55which happens to be in Makerfield.
00:57The Brian Burrough, and I know people there, and we'll be so pleased to see you.
01:01And actually, you know, here in the Northwest, but across the UK,
01:05so many people have Irish connections, and they will be so pleased to see you with us today.
