A political showdown has emerged in Tamil Nadu between Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) regarding alliance allegiances and seat allocations. The DMDK criticised the VCK leadership, stating that parties switching alliances had done so to secure ministerial positions. In response, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan clarified that his remarks questioned whether coalition partners left purely out of a desire for power, or if the sudden entry and seat accommodation of the DMDK created dissatisfaction among existing allies. Both parties presented contrasting arguments concerning coalition dynamics and political motives.

00:03where you've got two regional parties fighting it out over their allegiances.

00:15What is this all about?
00:17Well, essentially, the VCK had, in fact, started off by commenting about why the DMDK is not part of,
00:24in fact, the DMK-led alliance and then questioned the DMDK on this.
00:30That particular issue has, in fact, blown up into a big controversy.
00:36The DMDK has now hit out of the VCK chief, saying those who moved to another alliance
00:41had done so after securing ministerial positions, that for power,
00:44they dumped the DMK and switched over to the TVK.
00:48So that's, in fact, led to a showdown between the DMDK as well as the VCK.
