00:02This is chaos that's been reported at the Delhi airport earlier today
00:05where four domestic, one international Spice jet flights have been delayed.
00:09Reports say delay as in check has happened
00:13because check-in staff did not turn up at the airport.
00:17Now passengers have come out to, in fact, be in verbal clashes with the airport staff.
00:23They've argued with the airport staff over the inconvenience caused
00:27with the flights being delayed because of this logistical issue that has come up.
00:33Now flights take off after a delay of over three hours is what we are learning.
00:37Spice jet issued statements on airport chaos and says, and I quote,
00:41delay due to operational reasons.
00:43Flights departed now, reached destinations as well.
00:46In fact, Delhi airport has also issued a statement on the same and says
00:49assisted the affected passengers to the best efforts
00:53and Spice jet flight operations were disrupted due to logistical concerns.

01:02Amit, very good afternoon to you.
01:04You know, as far as our aviation sector goes,
01:07there seems to be some sort of a logistical issue,
01:10be it whichever airline.
01:12In the latest episode at Spice jet,
01:14but these delays, these logistical disruptions,
01:17last year itself we've seen a major episode unfold over the same.
01:20Is there a lapse of some massive regulation somewhere
01:25for which these are becoming recurring instances?
01:32Shriya, let's be clear about this particular instance.
01:35I would say because I've been tracking aviation sector,
01:37so I can certainly say this is a Spice jet problem.
01:41My sources are confirming me that what happened this morning
01:44was possibly a beginning of a bigger trouble for Spice jet
01:49because they have told me that it was lay flight at Delhi airport SG-127,
01:57which was expected to take off at 4.50 a.m.
02:00So generally the staff who comes in for the check-in process
02:04as you and I go to the airport,
02:06you see the staff there handling the check-in process as well.
02:11But today, this morning,
02:13my sources are confirming me
02:14that this particular staff did not turn up.
02:17Now, what is happening at Spice jet is that reportedly
02:19there are a couple of months,
02:21at least a couple of months of salary delay
02:23of a lot of Spice jet employees
02:26and this includes the pilots,
02:28the ground staff as well as other back-end staff,
02:32you know, including those with the technical departments.
02:36Now, if you're not getting salaries on time,
02:38your morale goes down
02:39and you turn up to the airport,
02:41you face angry customers
02:43because flights are getting delayed.
02:44You would remember,
02:45it was only last week
02:46when you had Delhi Dubai nightmare
02:49for the passengers of the Spice jet,
02:51a Delhi Dubai flight,
02:53where the flight was delayed by over 24 hours.
02:56There were passengers angry,
02:57shouting at the top of their voice
02:58at Delhi's IJ airport,
03:00saying that we have not been provided food,
03:02water, accommodation
03:04because our flight has been delayed
03:05and it was the Delhi airport,
03:07as I'm given to understand,
03:09who had accommodated them
03:10at a separate space.
03:12So, but Spice jet is saying
03:14that this is operational issue
03:15which caused the delay today.
