Ampang Jaya police have detained a man after a four-wheel-drive vehicle was found pulling cables out of a manhole near Masjid Al-Ubudiah on Sept 19.

Days earlier, police began investigating an attempted cable theft in Jalan Jelatek, Datuk Keramat, with the company estimating losses at RM15,000.

Both cases, which surfaced in viral videos, are being investigated under the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act.

00:28They found a four-wheel drive vehicle pulling cables out of a manhole.

00:32Police detained the driver and seized items linked to the case.

00:36The suspect and the items were taken to Ampang Police Station.

00:39Police also traced a video of the incident that went viral on TikTok.

00:44ACP Khairul Anwar said the case is being investigated under sections 379, 431A and 124K of the Penal Code
