00:00:38Yeah, I'm not sweating out of my shirt this time, Tom, so I'm feeling a little bit better up here

00:00:43Well, there's Deshaun Watson waiting for his chance.
00:00:45They won the toss again, Turbo.
00:00:47They went heads this week, tails last week.
00:00:50We thought they'd give the football to the Buccaneers, but the Browns decided to keep the ball.
00:00:55Second week in a row, they chose a return, but Todd Munkin's philosophy on that is wanting to build confidence
00:01:00early in his offense.
00:01:01Well, here's Corley.
00:01:02He'll return it from the five on the near sideline.
00:01:05We are underway from Tampa, and he makes a man miss and gets across the 30 to the 33-yard
00:01:10line.
00:01:11And here comes Deshaun Watson.
00:01:14There's always conversation about Deshaun, whether he should be the starting quarterback, whether he will be the starting quarterback.
00:01:20He had a better second half last week when his team was trailing.
00:01:23And you hope that better second half is able to carry over to a stronger and faster start here in
00:01:30today's game.
00:01:30And the big thing for Cleveland offensively is about operation.
00:01:34Getting to the line of scrimmage earlier, getting recognition that play calls protection, all right, and avoiding some of those
00:01:40pre-snap penalties.
00:01:41Yeah, they had a couple delay of games last week, and they had to use a timeout because the play
00:01:45clock was winding down.
00:01:46Off the play fake.
00:01:47He'll throw.
00:01:48Pressure's coming.
00:01:49Throws on the run.
00:01:50Pass is complete.
00:01:51Concepcion, the rookie.
00:01:53And he's right at the first down marker as Winfield makes the tackle.
00:01:56One of the things Deshaun Watson displayed last week really well was the ability to move his feet.
00:02:01And so early in this game, getting him outside of the pocket, pressure in his face, and still able to
00:02:06deliver an accurate football.
00:02:07And there's Casey Concepcion really developing.
00:02:10I mean, they got real high hopes for this kid, and he's showing some early progress.
00:02:14Second down and one.
00:02:16DeJuan Jones is in as an extra offensive lineman.
00:02:21Concepcion in motion.
00:02:22They give it to him on a jet suite, trying to get away from B.
00:02:24He can't.
00:02:25Or, excuse me, it's Diabe.

00:02:30Yaya Diabe was there to read it beautifully, and it's a loss on the play of six yards.
00:02:37Well, this is a guy that plays with speed.
00:02:39And you want to talk about a defensive lineman being able to run down a guy like Casey Concepcion,
00:02:44who's known for his quickness and speed, tells you a lot about him.
00:02:48That's a good play right there.
00:02:49All right, so now third down and seven after having a positive first down.
00:02:52What do you think here?
00:02:53Well, first of all, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they like to bring a lot of blitz here.
00:02:57This is where I think Cleveland wants to get Harold Fannin Jr. involved more in this ball game.
00:03:03Lined up at the bottom.

00:03:05They hand it off.
00:03:06A flag comes in, and Judkins gets a couple yards.
00:03:13And the offense.

00:05:37That's three penalties already for the Browns.
00:05:40Not the type of start that you wanted from your team if you're Todd Munkin.
00:05:44And you can tell the Browns playing a little bit antsy right now.
00:05:48They've got to calm down and get some composure going within their team.
00:05:53And officially, there were three penalty flags, but only two penalties because they declined the one for the fourth down.
00:05:58It'll be first down and five.
00:05:59They hand the ball up inside.

00:06:02Godwin's got some room on the outside.
00:06:04And Godwin gets inside Browns territory before Denzel Ward makes the tackle for Cleveland.
00:06:11And what a luxury it is to have a guy like Chris Godwin in your locker room.

00:06:18And you've got a receiver room with a bunch of younger guys, second-year, third-year guys.
00:06:23And Godwin is the unquestioned leader for those.

00:06:46They feel like the strength of his game is attacking the deep ball.

00:07:26We had a conversation with Denzel Ward.
00:07:28And he said he'd never played against him during his rookie year.
00:07:32And so he's looking forward to the battle.
00:07:34So a loss on the play back to midfield.

00:07:43Last week, the Browns were 5 for 10 on third down.

00:08:06I think this is a go-for-it situation right now if you're Todd Bowles.
00:08:14Well, here comes Mayfield off the field.
00:08:18McLaughlin's going to come out and try a long field goal.
00:08:22Now he'll go from the far hash mark.
00:08:24During warm-ups, he connected from there.
00:08:27State Farm, about five yards up.
00:08:30But a couple of the kicks went to the left a little bit.
00:08:33This will be a 59-yard field goal attempt.
00:08:36It's 100%, 50-plus last season.

00:09:34What can they do?
00:09:35Well, Tom, you know, when we talked with Coach Todd Munkin,
00:09:37he brought some great perspective to this young team.
00:09:39He said the one loss is not a death sentence.
00:09:42He did say that it is tough when you put in the work all offseason
00:09:45and you don't come out and put your best foot forward.
00:09:47He said, we got stung, but now it's on us to collectively try to bounce back from it.
00:09:52And, Tom, you know, they seem really optimistic in our conversations.
00:09:56They did.
00:09:56And obviously there's a lot of pressure as to, you know, what Deshaun Watson can do
00:10:00and if there would ever be a quarterback change before their home opener next week.
00:10:04They gave it off to Judkins, who's important for this offense,
00:10:07and he gets close to 10 right up the middle.
00:10:11Josiah Trotter makes the tackle.
00:10:13And I think this is one of the important factors for Cleveland.
00:10:16They came out in that first drive, didn't have any runs in that first drive.
00:10:21If they want to be able to sustain drives, win games,
00:10:24Quinshawn Judkins is going to have to be a vocal point of the offense.
00:10:27Coming back off an injury last year, there's Reuben Bain.
00:10:33He had a rough first week last week.
00:10:36A lot of north-south rushes for him.
00:10:38We'll keep an eye on whether he's going to zigzag a little bit more.
00:10:41They go back to Judkins again, who's got the first down up across the 40.
00:10:47All right, give me an idea of the key matchup today, offense to defense.
00:10:50Well, I expect some early targets for Harold Fannin Jr.
00:10:54Offensively for Cleveland, he only had three targets in that game against Jacksonville,
00:10:58so I expect him to be involved more.
00:11:00But Josiah Trotter is developing quickly as one of the better young linebackers
00:11:05that we have in this NFL.
00:11:07Yeah, Todd Bowles said to us, we asked him,
00:11:09well, wouldn't you think he was going to be the starter?
00:11:10He said, first day of practice, but I couldn't give it to him then.
00:11:13That's right.
00:11:14First down up to the 42-and-a-half-yard line.
00:11:18Off the play fake.
00:11:19Watson looking to throw.
00:11:20Watson to his left.
00:11:21He's got Fannin at the 41-yard line.
00:11:23He got his bearings before he was knocked out of bounds.

00:11:32Well, these are two good throws by Deshaun Watson with pressure in his face.
00:11:37Right there, Yaya Diaby in his face, still able to deliver a strong, accurate football

00:11:45That's good execution right there.
00:11:46Yeah, the Buccaneers last year gave up over 1,000 yards to tight ends, opposing tight ends.
00:11:52So a gain of 22.
00:11:53Todd Bowles, the head coach of the Buccaneers, calling the defense.

00:12:00And Judkins gets a couple yards.
00:12:02He's taken down by Kalijah Kansi, who the Buccaneers are really high on.
00:12:07They picked up his fifth year, and they hope he is what they expected him to be a few years

00:12:12Well, he's dealt with some injuries.
00:12:14The Buccaneers obviously had the torn pec last year, so he only played in two games.
00:12:18So they're happy to have him back.
00:12:20And, man, as he continues to grow, they hope that he can be a foundational player for this defense.

00:12:39And you've got to hit him because he runs unbelievably.
00:12:43No doubt about it, and usually you give the ball to KC Concepcion and some space.
00:12:49You know, he's able to make guys miss.
00:12:51But the pursuit, the retrace by that Tampa Bay Buccaneers, able to get a stop right there.
00:12:57Well, this was an issue last week for the Jags.

00:15:54Yeah, and, you know, we talked to Baker about if he holds any grudges.
00:15:58At this stage, not anymore.
00:16:00You know, maybe early on.
00:16:02But at the end of the day, in this league,
00:16:04you're likely going to play for other teams.
00:16:07And, you know, you just want to try to be the best you can be for each franchise.

00:16:11He goes, you know, my life sometimes is like a movie script.
00:16:13He goes, and here I am facing the Cleveland Browns.
00:16:17He does use things to help get his competitive juices going.

00:16:31He's been playing against his former teams even since college.
00:16:34I talked to him about the Texas Tech days and going to OU
00:16:37and then playing Texas Tech while he was at OU.
00:16:40So he's not new to this.
00:16:41And as far as Deshaun goes, well, he said he knows people are trying to make
00:16:45the headline about him and Baker in this matchup.
00:16:47But it's out of their control and that there is no bad blood between them.
00:16:51That's exactly right, Tom.

00:16:57It still makes for some good talking points, though.

00:19:26And there's a couple of offensive linemen that are slow to get up for the Buccaneers.
00:19:33They're able to get good pressure on the edge.
00:19:37And if you're Gainwell, I mean, this is what you do.
00:19:39This is why the Buccaneers brought you into this franchise.
00:19:43It's because of your catching ability out of the backfield, particularly on third down.
00:19:48And I'm sure he's beating himself up on that one.
00:19:51Yeah, over 1,000 yards, total yards with the Steelers last year.
00:19:54This is a 45-yard field goal attempt for McLaughlin.

00:20:39but felt 100% coming in.

00:20:42I mean, it's hot, right?
00:20:43So perhaps dehydration cramps.

00:20:54Those guys have a great relationship together.
00:21:01Already a better start for the Browns' defense,
00:21:04except for the explosive plays.

00:21:57for the Cleveland Browns against the Buccaneers,
00:22:00their best run so far in this game has been downhill.
00:22:03B-gap to B-gap, guard to guard.
00:22:06Tim and the Buccaneers actually are stronger in their run defense
00:22:10with those edge runs like we just saw.
00:22:12I think the focus for Cleveland Browns should be those downhill runs.
00:22:17They give up almost over five yards per carry in that area.
00:22:21Well, they bring the fullback Burton in in an offset eye formation.
00:22:26And a little pitch, a little sweet play.
00:22:28Judkins trying to get to that edge.
00:22:29Not much is there.
00:22:30That's what you talked about.
00:22:31Yeah, they're playing to the strength of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers right there.

00:24:21A lot of these quarterbacks, they've had a lot of coordinators during the course of their careers.
00:24:26There's Zach, who Baker knew from when he was with the L.A. Rams.
00:24:32Zach was with the Falcons last year when they made a coaching change.
00:24:36The Buccaneers decided to make a change at offensive coordinator.
00:24:39They brought him in from the Sean McVay tree.
00:24:45There's a couple things that he's done differently, similar to Coach Rudenberg, defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns.
00:24:54They know each other as well.
00:24:55They know each other very well.
00:24:57In fact, they usually text every week.
00:24:58They didn't text this week.

01:06:40All right, let's take a look at the Browns' defense so far today.
01:06:42They have had some bright spots defensively.
01:06:45Well, this has been the positive for them.
01:06:46The defense has bounced back from that week one performance.
01:06:50Much more disciplined in the secondary.
01:06:52The interception right there by Miles Harden.
01:06:54They're getting much more pressure on Baker Mayfield and the quarterback running those TE studs.
01:07:00And a nice sack right there by Mason Gray.
01:07:01All right, so, first half, stats look like this.
01:07:04Give me an idea of what Tampa Bay needs to do in the second half.
01:07:07Well, Tampa Bay, to me, I think it's about executing some of those downfield throws.
01:07:11They really haven't been able to get Ekbuka and those wide receivers involved.
01:07:15Only 39 passing yards in the first half.
01:07:18I mean, that is unlike Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense.
01:07:22Yeah, last week we said Baker Mayfield had 12 completions behind the line of scrimmage.
01:07:26He's sort of getting to that point again here today.
