00:002 минут warning no punts in this
00:02game so far and six scores on
00:07eight drives entertaining two
00:10minute warning here at Arrowhead
00:11on this Sunday night Chiefs 17
00:14Colts 13 Indy on the move Toyota
00:22halftime is coming up Mike Tomlin
00:23Maria Taylor here at Arrowhead
00:25Mike's week two news which was
00:27fun last week including Mike
00:28talking about the Browns and the
00:30Browns is the Browns will explain
00:31itself if you hang for halftime
00:33and get the updates on the inside to
00:35Caleb Williams and James Daniels we
00:37apologize to all of our English
00:38teachers collectively so we'll play
00:40on words if you stick around for the
00:42two-half time you'll get it second and
00:44one here for Indianapolis remember the
00:46ball belongs to Kansas City to begin
00:48the second half crack the line bringing
00:52the pressure Taylor runs to the left and
00:54gets the first down to the 42-yard line
00:57with an active Chris Jones part of the
00:59tackling party yeah and the really
01:01significant part here for the Colts
01:04you're absolutely trying to score
01:05points no doubt about that but you also
01:07do not want to leave a shred of time on
01:11that clock because we're seeing how
01:13quickly now Kansas City is moving up and
01:16down the field on the offensive side
01:2624 here till halftime and Daniel Jones
01:29sideline shot towards Treadwell by the
01:31contact flag called as the penalty is
01:34called from the back judge back judge
01:37had the look in at the contact it looks
01:41like it would be Fulton again it is and I
01:44think it's going to be the same situation
01:46he is all over the receivers defense
01:49number eight the ball in place to the
01:52spot of the foul automatic first down
01:54and that back judge Terry Wright is the
01:57one guy that can see the quarterback
01:59release and when the foul occurred which
02:01is sometimes tougher to see it elsewhere
02:04exactly because he's looking inside out and
02:06sees that collar grab right there that
02:08restricts the receiver was Terry McCauley
02:10three-time Super Bowl referee and that
02:12back judge is Rich Martinez has been in
02:15the league 13 years real veteran back
02:16there throwing the flag and bringing the
02:19Colts into field goal range at least at
02:21the 35
02:26run it with Taylor
02:29three yards to the 32 yard line his fans
02:32don't like the flag but that replay
02:34showed very clearly the pull on the
02:36inside of the jersey timeout taken by Kansas
02:40City each team down to two yeah and
02:45remember on sword delaying is the top
02:47draft pick played three plays the other
02:49night got one interception not playing
02:52at least so far in this game Christian
02:54Fulton came in replaced and played
02:56really well a week ago but a couple of
02:58big penalties in his first half it
03:00really helped there is delaying the
03:03six overall pick in the draft and that
03:07pick on the third play of the game as you
03:09mentioned an injured shoulder that had
03:10been bothering him to go through
03:12practice this week but not on the field as
03:15of yet tonight
03:17second and a half does it for the Colts
03:28complete for Keenan Allen blanketed by
03:30Noel Williams and Chris mentioned the
03:33guy who finished his college ball at Cal was
03:35so impactful at the corner spot against
03:37Denver
03:39you know I
03:41Steve Spagnuolo sometimes I think he
03:43works against himself so many times
03:45they've let really good cornerbacks out of
03:48Kansas City and just draft new ones
03:51expecting Spagnuolo to be able to
03:53recreate them and he keeps doing it so
03:56they keep sending really good cornerbacks
03:58elsewhere just said with Jerry's speed on
04:01the field to cover the Colts on third and
04:04a half does it
04:07Jones to down he's got it for the first
04:10down trying to stay in bounds now goes to
04:11the sideline Snead throws him out flag
04:13comes
04:17was at the 24 yard line and we'll see if
04:20this is on Snead will be half the
04:22distance to the goal and the Colts will
04:23have it at I don't think I think it's
04:25Josh Downs Downs look to me like it they
04:28were sort of wrestling going out of
04:31bounds and Downs was the one that kind
04:33of yeah you're right up them right in
04:34the face mask no doubt do they have
04:40anything on Seed on the back end of
04:42it let's see
04:47the result of the play is the first
04:50down after the play there's two
04:52personal fouls one on each team
04:56offence
04:57personal fouls defense
04:58both throws off set
05:00after the play
05:01result of the play is still for a second
05:07Terry you good with that
05:09I am Mike clearly a face mask by the
05:11receiver but then you get that that act
05:14way out of bounds of the defender
05:16throwing him down you really can't have
05:18that either so it's a good offset
05:19Chris wanted me to ask you because he
05:21corrected me on the initial call I saw
05:23the Sneed he saw the first one
05:25we're all in this together we're
05:27all in this together boys
05:29it's only week two
05:30we got 20 weeks to go
05:32including playoffs
05:35first and ten for Indianapolis and
05:37Taylor runs to the right got some
05:38blocking there goes Taylor for the
05:41touchdown
05:42Jonathan Taylor kicks it into another
05:45gear and Indianapolis takes the lead
05:52what did Jonathan Taylor tell us he said
05:55on an outside zone the best cut is no
05:59cut when he gets to run in a straight
06:01line like that look out he is headed to
06:03the end zone and with his speed it is a
06:07problem wow how explosive was that and
06:11his badger buddy other Wisconsin grad the
06:14center Tanner Bordellini was blocking to
06:17lead the way for Taylor who is a very
06:21frequent visitor in the end zone
06:23Spencer Schrader adds the extra point
06:26Chiefs fans disliked that it was all
06:29setting penalties as they were booing
06:31Taylor gave him reason to get more
06:33angry fourth lead change of this half
06:36it's Indianapolis now on top by three
06:39ball heading to the Rockies next week
06:41see Matthew Stafford the Rams who play the
06:43Giants at home tomorrow night against
06:46Phoenix and the Broncos who scored the
06:47last 17 against Jacksonville to get
06:49the victory football night on site
06:51gets going at 7 Eastern report to the
06:54Rams and the Broncos two teams that
06:55were a game away from the Super Bowl
06:57last year meeting on Sunday night
06:59football bounces out of the end zone
07:03and a touchback to see where exactly
07:05it came down to see if it ends up up
07:07at the 35 yard line as Mahomes and
07:10Kelsey head back out
07:16don't believe that ball hit in the
07:18end zone I think it was in the target
07:21area so the ball does come in fact
07:23come out to the 20 yard line it was
07:25close it was real close but there is
07:29that minute on the clock let's see
07:33just how aggressive they are I can't
07:35imagine they're not going to be super
07:37aggressive here man-to-man coverage
07:40and then it's Johnson the rookie in
07:42Nebraska is the running back and he's
07:44got it Johnson chased by CJ Allen we
07:47mentioned rather by that's Jalen
07:49Carlisle veteran pardon the linebacker
07:51who chases him down and it's out to
07:53the 27 yard line 54 to go yeah Emma
07:57Johnson is going to be a factor for
08:00this team very good receiver he has
08:02he's had some explosive runs in that
08:05first game but I thought what he did in
08:07the passing game and here he is in this
08:08key situation they trust him to get down
08:12the field and get open and he has
08:16the pass is deflected inside intended for
08:19Rice and incomplete the rookie had two
08:22catches from 44 yards against Denver
08:23that time the veteran DeForest Buckner
08:26inside made the play DeForest Buckner
08:30coming off of neck surgery in the
08:32offseason and it couldn't help but ask
08:34what do you think about retiring he's
08:36like oh yeah I sure did but came back
08:39felt good and has played well so far
08:41but big moment in the game right here
08:43if the Colts could make a stop on this
08:46line they'd get the ball with some time
08:55third and two Mahomes looked at Kelsey
08:58he was covered and he goes down as the
09:01pressure gets to him and they push him
09:03back and he talked about Buckner right
09:06there in the middle of it for the Colts
09:08who get the stop and get the clock
09:10stopped as well yeah give a little
09:12credit to Hakeem Davis Gaither as well
09:14Buckner inside as they had all
09:16everybody up and he's just going to
09:19split right through there and end up
09:22with the sack but really what happened
09:23was trying to get that thing to Travis
09:25Kelsey and just could not wow he almost
09:28lost the ball Buckner had a hand on
09:30it popped out of Mahomes grasp
09:34Buckner was once the seventh overall pick
09:36by the 49ers so the Colts take their
09:39second time out they have one
09:40remaining we mentioned earlier their
09:43kicker Spencer Schrader was hitting
09:45them from 65 in warm-ups and our staff
09:49was still that arise it set to punt it
09:52away for Kansas City
10:00he hits it fair catch and gold let it go
10:04and again it's not Ashton Doolin who
10:06normally returns punts it's gold he let it go
10:09it was tough to catch but the mistake
10:11made makes it a long field for the Colts
10:13back in 30 seconds
10:18we all know that Nationwide is so much
10:20more than a great insurance company
10:22they're one of America's largest
10:23financial services companies too just
10:26like I'm so much more than Peyton Manning
10:28I'm also Peyton Manning
10:30yo I thought you were just touching up
10:32the locker room what no this is way better
10:34he represents insurance he's financial
10:37services and where they meet that's
10:39Nationwide it's a metaphor for the start
10:42of a new season Wow it's pretty deep
10:45I think just about insurance and
10:47financial services
10:50Ashton Doolin's an experienced and
10:51excellent punt returner he's not in the
10:54game because of injury and may have
10:55cost Indianapolis field position there
10:57and somewhere Bill Parcells is
10:59physically ill right now
11:01why is that just because he didn't
11:03catch it made him crazy when punt
11:05returners did not catch the ball that
11:07was 30 yards of field position and a
11:10chance to get points I mean there's
11:12that's going to run out the clock now
11:13whereas if he catches the ball 30
11:16they're they're cranking into
11:17offensive mode and a chance at a long
11:20field goal attempt the run by Taylor
11:21for a yard Chiefs don't use their two
11:25timeouts Colts do not need to run a
11:27play we're going to take it to the
11:28locker room here with Indianapolis on
11:30top by three in Kansas City getting
11:33the ball to start quarter number
11:35three good half bunch of lead
11:38changes and we'll send you down to the
11:41field for the coaches insights
11:43presented by Bud Light to Melissa with
11:45Andy Reid Andy what have you seen from
11:47Patrick now in his second game back
11:49yeah he's doing a good job yeah he's
11:51moving the ball around doing doing
11:52fine yeah and what's the message to the
11:54team trailing the Colts right now well
11:56we just we got to get off the field
11:57defensively and then special teams
11:58we're making too many mistakes there
12:00Andy thanks Maria thanks Melissa well
12:04coach T you said this game was going to
12:05come down to the run game that's what
12:07you're seeing in the first half yeah I
12:09love the way Shane Steichen and
12:10company's playing it first of all they
12:12came out and got points on the first
12:14drive and they minimize the crowd's
12:16impact on the first half and then
12:18secondly obviously they're playing
12:19through Jonathan Taylor he's on his
12:21way to about 150 and two tugs and
12:24that's what it needs to be if they
12:25want to have a chance to come out
12:26victorious 75 yards for him in the
12:28first half all right listen coming up
12:30on the Toyota halftime the news from
12:32Mike T plus updates on two big
12:34quarterback injuries that's all coming
12:35up ahead from Arrowhead
12:39want more stats just ask Siri
12:43who leads the league in tackles
12:57welcome to the Toyota halftime let's go
13:01places well back here at Arrowhead it is
13:05halftime and the Colts they have lost
13:07eight straight games dating back to last
13:09season but right now they find
13:11themselves up 20 to 17 on top of the
13:14Chiefs all right so Mike Tomlin he
13:19delivers the news in fact when he was
13:20coaching for the Steelers he delivered
13:22the news his team every week kind of a
13:23chance to tell some hard truths right
13:25send a message bring things into
13:26perspective now he does that on Sunday
13:28nights but this week coach you actually
13:31became the news because of a comment
13:33that he made last week after the
13:34Browns lost to the Jaguars we want you
13:36to hear the comment first take a listen
13:39in the words of my friend Juju
13:41Smith-Schuster the Browns is the
13:43Browns okay so this week the Browns
13:47actually bounced back with a win over
13:49the Buccaneers and afterwards their head
13:51coach Todd Munkin had a message of his
13:53his own for Mike Tomlin Browns are gonna
13:57Browns that okay so the guys took that to
14:02heart thank you coach what do you have to
14:07say for yourself I love my new role that's
14:10what I have to say for myself you know
14:12why because I can provide bulletin board
14:14material with no personal consequence
14:16100% that's exactly what you did and I love
14:18that you say it with your chest in that
14:20instance and to be fair they allowed the
14:22Jaguars to score on the first four
14:23possessions so you you were speaking to
14:25some truth I certainly was but you got
14:28to give them credit for what transpired
14:29this week yeah and particularly on their
14:31defense as you mentioned the Jags came
14:33out and scored on the first four
14:35possessions last week I think they only
14:37punted once through three quarters then
14:39Cleveland's defense showed up today they
14:41had three sacks five quarterback hits and
14:44they just did a really good job of playing
14:46with spirit and I respect that yeah so now
14:49the Browns are one and one and Todd
14:51Munkin can wait for your next bit of
14:52bulletin board material some other news
14:54that came out of week two the top two
14:57picks from the 2024 draft at quarterback
14:59Caleb Williams and Jaden Daniels both left
15:02with injuries today they'll both have some
15:04testing tomorrow stay tuned to pro football
15:06talk for the latest but it was a hamstring
15:08for Williams for Jaden Daniels a dislocated
15:11left elbow I want to start with the Bears
15:13and just what do you do when you're having
15:16to plug in now Tyson Bajan he was undrafted but
15:19he's been with the team since 2023 hasn't
15:21started a game though since 2024 well as a
15:23leader you don't put it on Tyson you put it
15:26on a collective and they have an opportunity
15:27to prove that they're a good team and this
15:30is what I mean good teams smile in the face
15:32of adversity Seattle is showing us a really
15:34good example as they play with their backup
15:37this is what they have to do their defense
15:39led the league in turnovers last year they
15:41got to get back in the turnover business sure
15:42they had three last week they had zero this
15:44week they got to get in that business they
15:46they had two runners that ran over 100 yards
15:48last week they got to lean on that running game
15:50they got to work to gain a possession in the
15:53kicking game that's what good teams do it's not
15:55about Tyson certainly he's going to have to make
15:57some plays but it's the collective job to make
16:00sure that they do a really good job of collectively
16:04minimizing the loss of somebody as significant as
16:07Caleb Williams yeah obviously we wish them both the
16:09best and that they heal quickly but ultimately the
16:11Bears now they get an extra day they play on Monday
16:13night against the Eagles all right up next Dak's record
16:16day in Dallas but first winning season starts now with
16:20Toyota game day giveaways pick a fourth quarter play for a
16:23chance to win a game day gift card see rules at
16:25toyota.com slash NFL
16:32tonight's first half coverage is presented by progressive
16:39Sunday night's about stars we have a ball on one field tonight
16:43it's the Chiefs and the Colts on Sunday night football
16:46Jones opening for the touchdown a sensational opening drive
16:51Mahomes fires right Kelsey touchdown
16:54some things just never change in life do they Mike
17:03progressive insurance for coverage you can count on
17:08to the third quarter we go Indianapolis leads by three in
17:12Kansas City and tonight's SNF storylines are powered by AWS the
17:16quarterback numbers more on the Mahomes side the Jones
17:19and that's interception led to a Chiefs touchdown on the ground
17:23and one of the stories Jonathan Taylor 75 yards Kenneth
17:27Walker still a good average with his six on the ground and
17:30look at them both with the missed tackles forced over a
17:34half dozen and for Taylor another touchdown running a
17:3824 yarder in that second quarter a 17th 20 plus yard TD
17:43run being Lenny Moore the other name on there speaking of
17:46great names a moment ago Derrick Johnson 13 years
17:50a chief entering the Chiefs Hall of Fame
17:53you saw Clark Hunt the chair of the CEO welcoming Derrick
17:56Johnson's name here at Arrowhead going up with so many
17:59other great names like Tony Gonzalez
18:02Schottenheimer Will Shields
18:05Lenny Dawson Ed Podolak Hank Strand what a franchise
18:08so well-deserved no really he was so good to watch wasn't
18:12the ball lands in the target zone those dirty kicks so it goes
18:17into the end zone got to get on it and he does so a touch
18:21back and here's Melissa a moment ago with Shane Steichen
18:24Shane what was your message to the defense about containing this
18:27Chiefs offense in the second half well the biggest thing is
18:29tackled on Walker he's a hell of a player so we got to get
18:32him on the ground and then keep Mahomes in the pocket our
18:34defense done a good job of that so far but we got to keep the
18:37momentum going here in the second half what adjustments will we see
18:40offensively with Alec Pierce now ruled out for the second half
18:43it's next man up next guy's got to step up obviously we're
18:46running it good with JT right now we got to continue to do that
18:48Shane thank you all right thank you yeah trying to get a win
18:51they Colts have not won a regular season game since November
18:549th of 2025 that was in Berlin when they beat the Atlanta
18:58Falcons leading by three starting the third quarter and just a
19:01one-yard gain for Walker as Hayden Curry comes over to make a
19:06big play early on rookie out of Ohio State first team all big
19:1010 you know Mike this is kind of fun to watch to be honest when's
19:14the last game we did where it was two running backs taking over
19:17the game we're seeing five man lines down here to try and stop
19:21the run we're seeing blitzes off the corner to try and stop
19:25the run I mean that is an unusual sight in these days of the
19:30National Football League we're worthy in motion here goes
19:34Walker for the first down to the 33 yard line
19:42well Jonathan Taylor may not like to cut back but this guy does
19:47Kenneth Walker he just has the ability and he's so methodical
19:52getting to the line of scrimmage you can see how slowly he goes
19:56there probably remember back to the Super Bowl is almost like he
20:00was skipping towards the line and then would make one of those
20:03jump cuts and there he goes 33 my homes will just pitch it to
20:08him on the edge and there's those moves slithering inside to
20:13the 43 yard line and again at 10 yards let's just go back to
20:17that Super Bowl remember that Thursday was with the Super Bowl
20:20yeah we're at the practice for the Seahawks and you tell the story
20:24because you're the one who jumped out to you right away well we're
20:27sitting there and everybody's flying I mean it's the last hard
20:32practice before the actual Super Bowl the best practice ever
20:35best practice you love watching that practice and yet here we go and
20:39out of everybody flying on the field there's some really fast
20:42guys this guy this guy he was ripping about two clicks faster than
20:48all of them and we started talking about I said Mike he could be
20:50MVP of the game did you came down we were both at each side of the
20:54practice kind of watching you came down to the group that I was
20:56you go you see Kenneth Walker run past us it just felt days like you
21:01can feel somebody when they are that quick and you're on the
21:03sideline at a practice and you sense that and then you saw it in
21:07the game against the Patriots yeah that day you could feel the wind
21:09the breeze exactly went by I mean just flying and he's so strong I
21:14don't know if you can tell on television as much just so thick you
21:18know his legs and he's so strong upper body and just loves playing they
21:23were stunned when they got him
21:26averaging six and a half a carry tonight Mahomes saw nothing open
21:30there and it's incomplete with Walker in the vicinity and it was Mahomes
21:34who was sitting there remember he has the ACL so he's in a hospital bed
21:37in his living room because he can't walk for two months so he's doing a lot of
21:41TV watching and a lot of football watching and a lot of texting to the GM
21:44and Brett Veach he was and every time that Walker would take off on a good
21:49run in the playoffs Patrick would call Veach and go oh we're never gonna get
21:54him we're never gonna he was like cheering against them even though he
21:57desperately wanted him to be on his team he's out Emmitt Johnson's in it's third
22:02and six of this opening drive of the third quarter Mahomes in the middle big hit on
22:07Thornton who hangs on while he hits him the mark is right at the line and they
22:14say first down at the 47 yard line it'll be interesting I don't can you just tell
22:20that I think he had to get past the 47 replay assist might get involved here he
22:27had to come up over the 47 yard line yeah they're gonna get the first down take a
22:31look after replay assist the one was down short of the line the game
22:40I love replay assist they should call it broadcaster assist the fans here in Kansas
22:49City don't like it at the moment and fourth and one you see Andy Reid and the
22:54number of times he went for it in this situation last year so the offense stays
22:58out here for fourth and short well they got all the big guys in there right now and
23:04starting with the defensive tackle Kyrus Tonga number 92 here we go
23:11oh he's just a blockers no way no way watch the big dogs in here and then the big fella
23:26I
23:26I love that I love that I love that that was great that's the first carry of
23:32his career he played 15 snaps as a fullback for the Patriots last year four
23:37snaps against the Ravens and he has earned an invite into the running back room to
23:42watch the tape I can't imagine but there go all the snacks if he comes in
23:49first down Mahomes on the fake to Kelsey secured it and had to go down quick as
23:55Davis Gaither was closing in it's gonna be a loss of about a yard and a half for
23:58Kansas City now they've had a lot of different people trying to match up they
24:04started with Justin Walleye he's the one that gave up the touchdown the strong
24:08safety like no no no that's that's that's he's too big for him and then
24:12Akeem Davis Gaither's had him a few times out there Cam Taylor bread so they've
24:17been they've been working a lot of different people just trying to keep
24:21that Kelsey connection under control
24:30second down Mahomes clean pocket he opens and jumps to throw an incomplete for
24:36Kenneth Walker and at the end of it Mahomes gets taken down as Grover Stewart
24:41nosing around in there yeah Grover Stewart good thing he got his hand on that ball
24:46too because Kenneth Walker with his great speed had about two steps there's Eric
24:53the enemy right there man you could sort of feel the difference in this team with
24:58him back don't you think there's an innate toughness to this football team when
25:03he's on the staff and he nobody catches a break when he's coaching him I mean he's
25:09tough and he loves him but he is tough third and 11 culture pointing around
25:14getting people in the right place Mahomes watching Thornton got it at the one
25:22Taequann Thornton with the big play to the one yard line
25:33Mike you remember we talked about when they get into these single safety looks
25:37now you got a chance to go over the top now you're forcing a safety to play like a
25:43corner down the field and with that 4-2 speed went right by everybody and those
25:49are the kinds of plays that when Patrick Mahomes was here in the beginning we saw
25:55him every day
26:04it'll be second down the penetration initially by Hakeem Davis Gaither he saw
26:09Wally pointing as well so again communication for the Colts they were
26:14trying to get lined up as Mahomes sent Thornton streaking down the field
26:20can't help but think about Tyreek Hill and some of the you know what I mean I mean so
26:25those plays were just so explosive back in the day
26:30Kelty lined up in the backfield
26:31what trick is Andy going to next
26:34not to just straight walker turns to burrow his way in
26:38and he's marked short
26:40the third and goal
26:42of course last week down here
26:46Andy leaned on a play goes back to the 30s that Chris Berman sent him
26:50in the offseason they're always full of tricks
26:54now trying to get that last half yard against Lou Anderumo's defense this was
26:57really close
27:00as the big guys come back in
27:05it's trey smith trying to bring walker to the line
27:09it was hard to tell where that knee was
27:12tonga in the backfield again
27:15on third and goal it's walker bouncing to the right
27:17he got stopped what penetration by the Colts and cam bynum
27:29cam bynum's going to avoid here the guard on the back side
27:33so my tia is trying to get around to that
27:37make that block could not get around the edge
27:39and had no chance they got a little tricky there
27:44he had multiple players in there
27:47for the Colts
27:48and Jalen Moore the right tackle for the Chiefs
27:53stayed down after that one and the athletic training staff out there
27:57to look at him
28:00that Colts defense
28:03heavily criticized for their play last week
28:06lot to bynum multiple players
28:10penetrating that right side of the Chiefs offense and more
28:15being tended to here
28:18if they somehow get out of this
28:21and don't give up a touchdown
28:23and were to win this game
28:25that goal line stands going to be remembered for the whole season
28:33we're getting up and walking off
28:35it is
28:36not just to stop but also loss of the full yard
28:40so it's going to be fourth and one
28:42fourth and goal at the one
28:44for kc and they bring the offense back out
28:47so effectively a two-point conversion here right
28:50i mean whatever play they would have gone to first as a two-point conversion
28:54that's what you're going to see right here
28:57mike caliendo is in the game
28:59once again kairos tonga the nose tackle checks in to give them all that
29:05big power
29:07the injury to moore he's replaced by joshua izudu
29:10at right tackle
29:13fourth and goal
29:14the fake by mahomes he's low and throws to the back
29:17and it's a touchdown for jaylen royals
29:37believe it or not the best defense on that play might have been another chief and noah gray watches the
29:43royals goes to the back edge over here and then instead of sitting down he's wide open
29:49he continues to run with patrick mahomes
29:52and then it was noah gray who came back and almost knocked it out of his hands
29:56he almost stole it from
30:00hunker for the extra point
30:02knocks it through
30:04we're talking about all the talent on this offense and
30:06tap into a couple of the guys who don't get their name called as often the big ball the taequan
30:11porten sets up the first career touchdown reception for jaylen royals
30:15chiefs open the quarter with a touchdown drive
30:18and retake the league ship miage taking down blue valley 48 to 19 they scored 35 in the first
30:24quarter on friday night they get a sunday night football game ball
30:28to proudly display at their high school where are we going when we get out to the rockies you help
30:33decide folks out in the denver area at snf on nbc on instagram
30:37we kick and we'll show up with the friday night lights there anthony ghoul the kick return for
30:44indianapolis
30:44taking that the 27 yard line by cole christensen
30:49that's where the colts quarterback daniel jones and running back jonathan taylor will take over
30:54they have been true to their word haven't they and running behind a really a very good offensive line
31:00i don't feel like i've talked about them nearly enough of course led by clinton nelson number 56 the left
31:07guard he's been to the pro bowl he's been all pro every single year that he's been in the league
31:12and
31:13so many times when they really really have to have it that's the guy he is a big reason for
31:21those big
31:21numbers that you saw but taylor has amassed among active running backs they fake it to him on first down
31:27then throw it to him
31:28and there's taylor with that burst out to the 43 yard line jayden hicks helps bring him down
31:39nothing better than a little play action for an offensive lineman you get to fire off like it's a run
31:44play and you're like
31:45yeah it's a pass he not only got one he got two and then they sort of pinned in drew
31:50tranquil
31:51that allowed jonathan taylor to get out and make that play
31:56great to put a spotlight on mel on nelson six time all pro was so good in south bend at
32:02notre
32:02dame was his sixth overall pick the man has he delivered consistent excellence play clock running down
32:11all the blitz
32:13pressure off the edge good catch by treadwell of a hot shot by jones a lot happened for a gain
32:21of three you know what's interesting mike is all these quick throws and runs have kind of kept
32:28steve spagnola out of the blitz game you're not seeing because he's getting the ball out of his hands
32:35so quickly you know you really put yourself at risk
32:39if one tackle is missed on the outside when you're blitzing it could go the distance
32:46taylor
32:47a good block from warren to get three to the 48 yard line we talked to taylor last night just
32:53such a great
32:53personality and the market size the fact that the colts have not been in the playoff picture they're not on
32:59prime time a lot jonathan taylor does not get the attention he deserves for uh one of the spotlight
33:04running backs you know right there is christian mccaffrey and saquon barkley and of course derrick henry put
33:10the attention back on the position that guy got paid and it's helped pave the way for guys like jameer
33:16gibbs and bijon robinson to get even bigger deals and taylor loves that he's been the connective tissue
33:21to that generation before and the generation behind
33:25and the dominance of that running back spot again third down jones throws incomplete
33:31and treadwell slips keenan allen was coming over and a big third down miss
33:36i mean the colts will punt for the first time tonight
33:42really a nice job by spags they wanted to go to this out cut and that you can see dropping
33:47back out of
33:48there was luxurious need right underneath it looked like a man coverage all the way really well disguised
33:54and one on that down
33:59folks strong in net punting limiting the returns sanchez does a lot of that controlling it
34:07with his kicking nico remiho is back he's got a seven and he's brought down
34:13a seven good play off the edge by cam taylor brit the veteran
34:18limits the return and it's a long field for the chiefs five and a half left in the third
34:25and casey on top at home by four and our next gen stats powered by aws and it has been
34:32the story of
34:34khalil benson at left tackle a guy that was invited in to walk on after the draft wasn't even one
34:42of the
34:42priority guys with this team but he has made such an impression he has just been under siege all
34:49night and has allowed one pressure 26 pass protections and he has just made a statement for
34:57himself and he's doing it one-on-one four out of five times down the home scrambles gets it out
35:04to
35:04kelsey for the first down at the 21 there was a flag thrown at the line of scrimmage and looks
35:10like the
35:11colts were offside
35:15offside defense number 90. that penalty's declined the result of the play is the first down yeah so
35:21you have a great quarterback what's one thing you do need to protect and get that left tackle look at
35:26this patrick mahomes 14 different players starting at left tackle in his starts tying flacco and aaron
35:32rogers for having the most since 2018 so it's been a merry-go-round and they finally have gone round
35:39and
35:39found a left tackle to go out there with kelsey and mahomes and live the dream
35:44and khalil benson the rookie out of indiana
35:52walker
35:54run to the left for four yards let's go back and emphasize that point you made chris because
36:00you start after the draft okay you got that list of guys and then you've got the free agents it's
36:05that
36:05fury of phone calls like we want to get you in for a free agent priority free agent he didn't
36:09even make
36:10that comes in for a tryout with a bunch of other guys and he's pretty good well it wasn't like
36:16he
36:16was an unknown he played for indiana he's playing the national championship game you would think
36:20somebody would have recognized what he was doing but let's give a little credit to the coaching staff
36:25here too no doubt for turning him into something he won that job oh he's nearly picked by sauce gardner
36:31sauce rarely gets a chance to get him he only has three interceptions in his career for a guy who's
36:36the defensive rookie of the year and a two-time first-team all-pro sauce had him a home shot
36:41on his
36:42hands sauce it was so close the homes threw this ball so hard that he just couldn't deflect it to
36:49himself but you could see underneath and he's dropping back he's learning some of these own
36:54defenses he's learning some of these schemes he's that little yeah i knew that was close
37:01tough play to make got a hand on it third and five second look in the middle counts it there
37:07he goes
37:08remember like he did last week first down to the 42 yard line
37:13and the chiefs keep the drive alive with a gain of 16 and tj likes it
37:20i don't know let's not show a replay more people would rather watch taylor
37:25let's go kelsey here we go he's going to be right in the middle of the field
37:28and watch it really wasn't the first choice but how many times has patrick mahomes wanted somebody
37:35else knew it wasn't there and where's he going you know where he's going and he's always open
37:4215 to 87 one more time evan johnson with the run still going that's why they love him
37:51to the 49 yard line big 10 running back of the year at nebraska and you can see kenneth walker
37:58approves
38:00i knew he had it in him i remember watching this guy nebraska with these jump cuts we didn't see
38:06it a
38:06whole lot in week one he just wanted to prove how tough he was went slamming in there but tonight
38:11what
38:11we're seeing is some of the finesse of this guy not only as a receiver but with those jump cuts
38:20keeps controlling play here in the third trying to add to a four-point lead
38:28and johnson takes it to the 44 yard line he had a seven in the first half
38:37watch trey smith right here secure this go get there and then you get a running back and emmett johnson
38:44this time just hit it as hard as he could and you don't get him to just go to the
38:50ground you have to
38:50take him to the ground takes a big shot this team really loves this kid
39:00that is johnson for the third straight time dancing in the open field bolger to the 32 yard line
39:12jenneth walker's gonna be saying wait wait wait don't be stealing my act out there but watch these
39:18moves now they have two running backs with this skill set and it is so frustrating look at those guys
39:25trying to make a tackle flying right past them and the new partner likes that a lot
39:33he was good coming out of high school he was mr football in minnesota in 2021 now play action mahomes
39:41firing through the hands of xavier worthy oh my gosh a little bit on that one that was a rocket
39:49go ahead come on go ahead back me up a little bit have your moment go ahead that was a
39:54rocket that
39:55ball never got about 10 yards off the ground when he decides he's going to load up
40:02he's about 35 yards down the field that was pretty good thank you that's pretty good yes i'm with you
40:08i'm with you so if you want to include in your memes that's mike tariko
40:14leaning all the way in guys why not i got your back here kenneth walker is the back he returns
40:21for
40:21second and ten and sets the screen to kelsey got the good guys in front of him blocking kelsey on
40:27the run
40:28inside the 15 to the 13 gain a 19 and the chiefs in the red zone
40:38this is part of that offense we were talking about look he's going to come down and block that's all
40:42he's doing and so yeah you get a little push and then just turn around now we got the screen
40:47going
40:47out in front of you and here he goes mike he looks different this year he looks different he said
40:53it he
40:53he said he was in better shape yeah he said all new training yeah it worked to get himself so
40:59he
40:59could get that movement back in his 30s sauce gardner injured for the colts so we have a timeout on
41:04the
41:04field gardner still feeling it there on the sideline as he was trying to bring down travis kelsey
41:12so as he goes down kapenna gushikin plays his first defensive snap of his nfl career hunter wohler's also in
41:21colts have a bunch of backups in in the secondary
41:25shoulder sideline that's gushikin rookie at o'miss played at washington state grew up in maui
41:31get out there for your first defensive snap on sunday night football make a play
41:35how about that comes right in the game you knew they were going to go right after him
41:39try a little screen pass out here watch him just work to the outside and completely destroy this play
41:45can't do it any better than that who's she good
41:55second down final minute of the quarter
42:02and for the 16 mahomes
42:05not to know but he's pressured it's away swagged down as he throws it away
42:11so the colts defensive front that injury to gardner gave him a minute to catch their breath a little bit
42:16and putting some pressure on
42:22holding offense number 70 it's a 10-yard penalty replay second down
42:29yeah benson was in good position here and then the scramble started and you saw
42:40the defender come underneath and just grabbed and held and there you go yeah jalen to
42:46to emolo out got him there for the pressure
42:49and that's second effort they push him back take the penalty instead of the incompletion to a
42:53second and 22 here as you see the dominance of the chiefs in the quarter
42:58as the colts only had it for that one quick drive
43:03worthy emotion mahomes spins
43:09and goes down at the 16 yard line cam taylor brit
43:13the initial contact
43:16bring up third down as we get to the end of this third quarter and they'll change ends for the
43:21fourth
43:26jonathan taylor is the chance to refuel here in this third quarter only four plays
43:30run by the colts the only score
43:33the kansas city touchdown to jalen royals
43:37good one going here in area yes we're going to the fourth quarter guys four fingers in the air
43:42chiefs 24 colts 20.
43:45sunday night football continues from arrowhead and kc
43:50after these messages
43:53tonight's snf sites are provided by nationwide
43:57kansas speedway is in kansas city kansas and that could potentially be the spot where you say i'm going
44:03to a nascar race i'm going to a chiefs game because that's where the new stadium is scheduled to be
44:07built clark hunt the chairman ceo of the chiefs 2031 hoping to get into the new
44:12three billion dollar stadium third and 12 to begin the fourth to rashe rice and the colts rally to the
44:19ball rice down at the 10
44:22through the smoke from the pyrotechnics between the third and fourth quarter
44:27butker butker will kick a field goal to make it a seven point lead
44:32nice shot by the colts there as we go a little drop down and around just like his father the
44:38pitcher pat
44:39and
44:42i'll tell you this stayed a game didn't it keeping them out of the end zone right there now anything
44:47goes at this point sure did sauce gardner heard on that drive charverius ward out for the colts so
44:52they're deep into the db rotation and able to keep the chiefs with momentum out of the end zone
44:58butker from 28 yards knocks it through kansas city leads by seven 45 seconds into the fourth
45:06that's the mountain to climb for daniel jones jonathan taylor and the indianapolis colts
45:14there is carly ursay gordon the owner ceo of the indianapolis colts she and her
45:19two sisters running the business after the passing of jim ursay in 2025 it's been family-owned the ursay
45:26family going back to the 70s and carly watches the games on the sidelines listens to the play calls
45:31her dad used to be down on the sidelines a bunch and she has been around the game for a
45:35long time
45:36wants to be involved and know what's going on so she can make the decisions from the big chair
45:41anthony gould with a nice return across the 35 here's what she said when the question was
45:46would the head coach and gm come back for this season we have been very clear with chris and shane
45:54that giving them another opportunity means that the sense of urgency for them to deliver and perform
46:01has never been higher and that put a lot of pressure on this organization week to week then you get
46:07blown out at home week one against baltimore you're going to kansas city so quarters like this and games
46:13like this it's not going to decide what happens tonight but these things go a long way when the
46:17owner comes out and says hey look the focus is on this administration
46:2421 plus minutes on the bench jones back to work
46:28first down warren the tight end got a block downfield to get to the 41 yard line
46:33bernard ryman the left tackle throwing it we got a chance to visit with carly before the game on the
46:39field
46:40yeah and some people aren't going to like it they're going to think it's a meddling owner whatever
46:44but once you lay down the gauntlet for your gm and head coach basically say win or be gone
46:50is really what i took out of that message you would want her to at least have as much information
46:56as
46:57possible to make that decision and i think that's what she's trying to do and it didn't just start
47:02this year as you've seen if you've watched the coach she's been on the sideline for multiple years
47:06when she was pointed to by her father late father she was going to be the one taking over the
47:11football
47:11business she wanted to make sure she had as much knowledge as possible they've got jonathan taylor
47:16and that's a good thing first down for taylor to the 47 yard line as the colts try to drive
47:21for a
47:22tying score mike the thing that if i were in her position right now that i would be watching they
47:29get
47:29blown out they were terrible last week they're terrible and they come back into kansas city who played
47:35a brilliant game in their opener and they have answered i mean they have really stood up they've
47:41had some key injuries in this game as well both corners alec pierce some really tough things have
47:47happened and yet here they are still with a shot to win this game on the road one of the
47:53coaches on the
47:53sideline saw something daniel jones adjusted out of the pistol taylor loses the yard no williams
48:02nosing around to the other side of the line of scrimmage mike i'm telling you anytime you've got
48:08a wide receiver that's split inside the number as they are here you can almost bet 50 50 that that
48:16corner is going to come attack your run and so they're trying to maintain that running game but
48:23now we're starting to see a little pushback from spagnolo
48:30again first down to the problem last week put him in second and long too often jones retreats
48:36got down down downfield gosh downs inside the 35 yard line and the colt's gonna first down
48:43in front of legeria sneed
48:46mike this is 100 the protection
48:50right here this is a route that's going to take a long time down the field a lot of movement
48:55and look at the protection nobody even close to daniel jones and he just fires a bullet right in there
49:02really nicely done look at that move leading receiver for the coach tonight is downs
49:14in there for the chiefs for the moment
49:18runs for a couple of yards there melissa and the downs family it's a football fair every weekend oh it
49:23sure
49:23is there's lots of travel this season for his parents gary and tanya with two sons now in the nfl
49:30josh and cowboys rookie safety caleb so tanya who's a high school teacher broke out the dry erase board
49:36to plan it all out and they looked at each of the boys schedules as well as their own to
49:40figure out how
49:40to make it work week nine that's easy the boys play each other and mom and dad were in new
49:45york last week
49:46to support caleb in his nfl debut and they are here tonight to support josh they'll go head to head
49:52as well
49:53the cowboys and the colts second and nine pressure comes it's warren up in field jayden hicks
50:05that is so well done jayden hicks was on the other side of the field he saw it happening watch
50:12jayden hicks coming down here and all the way over here to make that play
50:19we go forward here with your partner they're at the 35. third and 11 is this four down territory
50:25you want to get points 10 minutes to go in the game i think with 10 minutes to go unless
50:30you're down
50:30to fourth and one or two i'm probably taking the points assuming that kansas city will at least get
50:36a field right got it okay it's a long field goal too but whoa that helps third and six
50:41makes it a little bit easier as george karloftis went too quickly
50:49just make sure that is the call
50:53neutral zone infraction defense number 56 it's a five-yard penalty still third down and that
50:59changes a lot for you as a play caller it really does the other thing that was a little disappointing
51:06and i know you know unabated to the quarterback and all that and he was way across the line but
51:11i
51:11guarantee you he would have loved to have taken a shot with that ball down the field the aaron rogers
51:16free play special that's it
51:21and he'd be talking about cleaning out of seven flags tonight
51:26somebody didn't agree with 36 outrageous to run it
51:32there's pressure thrown complete at the line to lean forward is allen allen mark is short of the 24 yard
51:41line
51:43so at the moment it's fourth and short let's see catch contact and then where he goes down
51:55that looks like he gets to 24. i would think that's a first down how about a replay assist
52:01yeah that looks like a first down to me a challenge flag has been thrown by shane steikin
52:13indianapolis is challenging the ruling on the field that the run was short of the line to gain
52:19all right so 907 to go we'll take a peek see if it's a first down
52:23we don't think it is which is dangerous for colts fans
52:32after review the ruling on the field stands is called it'll be fourth down
52:37all right terry mccauley come in here
52:40yeah mike we lose sight of the football on our down the line angle
52:44right you know when the when the hip hits pitch down you just can't see the ball he's out in
52:50space a little bit
52:51and and we lose sight of it so they are going to move it a little bit closer to the
52:58first down line
52:58yeah and that looks like a first down to anybody with common sense but it's not
53:04100 certainty thus it's fourth and inches jones keeps it and the point becomes root as it's a first down
53:11except
