🍂 Why Does the First Day of Fall Have More Day Than Night?

The fall equinox is supposed to be the moment when day and night are equal.

Except… they aren’t. 🤔

On the equinox, most places actually get more than 12 hours of daylight.

So what happened to “equal night”?

The answer comes down to what sunrise and sunset actually mean, the apparent size of the Sun, and the way Earth’s atmosphere bends sunlight around the horizon.

And there’s another date—the equilux—when day and night really do come much closer to being equal.

This is the first stop in a new Dragon Tom journey through the Wheel of the Year, Pagan traditions, seasonal celebrations, and the old ideas still hiding in plain sight.

🍁 The wheel keeps turning.
