00:00:02ESPN welcomes you to the following presentation of the National Football League.
00:00:12All right, let's go on Monday night, Giants and Rams.
00:00:15Week two, Giants come in 1-0, Rams 0-1.
00:00:18The man on the left, 18 years in Baltimore.
00:00:22A culture changer with the Giants.
00:00:24It just feels different with the Giants here in 2026.
00:00:27And Sean McVay, can you believe he's turned 40?
00:00:31Finally, already 40.
00:00:34A big 4-0.
00:00:37Rams won the toss.
00:00:38They defer.
00:00:39Giants get the ball first.
00:00:40That means we get to see Aaron Donald as Meebus kicks it away.
00:00:46And Berrios will bring it from about the goal line.
00:00:50Braxton Berrios far sideline and knocked out of bounds near the 31 by Quentin Lake.
00:00:56Who will now go take his spot at safety or slot.
00:01:00And that defense will set their sights on number six.
00:01:05Jackson Dart.
00:01:06Who had a big night last Sunday night at home and that win against Dallas.
00:01:11Boy, he sure did.
00:01:12And of course, it helps all quarterbacks when you're able to control the line of scrimmage
00:01:15and run the football the way in which they did.
00:01:18But I just thought he showed so much poise in the pocket here in year two from where he
00:01:24was last season.
00:01:37Scataboo.
00:01:38Broke one tackle and turns that into a nice game.
00:01:42Went right through Nate Landman and ends up getting four.
00:01:47Take a look at the lineups and we'll start with the Giants.
00:01:50Their offensive line is very good.
00:01:51And the guy that we highlight is their right guard, their rookie is 21 years old, CeCe Maunoa.
00:01:58Now we know it is about as good a young guard that's come into this league in a long time.
00:02:02There's Scataboo back there.
00:02:04With Patrick Ricard, his 300-pound fullback in front of him.
00:02:12Hey, what's that?
00:02:14Hey, Pete!
00:02:15Pete!
00:02:18Pete!
00:02:19Pete!
00:02:19Pete!
00:02:19Pete!
00:02:19Pete!
00:02:20Pete!
00:02:22That was rather relaxed.
00:02:25Scataboo lunges forward into third and short.
00:02:28You see in Jackson Dart change in the line, the play at the line of scrimmage.
00:02:33And the play clock was down to one.
00:02:36He snapped it.
00:02:36And a nice gain on second down.
00:02:38Here's the defense.
00:02:38There's Donald, Puna Ford, Kobe Turner, and Braden Fisk.
00:02:43At the linebacker level, Byron Young is one of the best young players in the league.
00:02:48Landman in the middle of it, and they're secondary with the new ads at corner, Watson and McDuffie, former Chiefs.
00:02:59Third and three.
00:03:01Third and three.
00:03:05Dart over the middle.
00:03:07What a catch by Lakeley for a first down.
00:03:10Wow!
00:03:11Reached behind him with the left hand and made the grab on an errant throw and gets a first down.
00:03:18Yeah, awfully impressive.
00:03:20Him coming off a big game last Sunday night.
00:03:22They're going to drop Josiah Stewart underneath, and he's supposed to kind of help out, defend that.
00:03:28Ball behind, outstanding catch by him.
00:03:32Third and short.
00:03:33They're staying ahead of the chains, much like they did last Sunday night.
00:03:38I'll remind everybody, there were four hands on Eric Donald, and you'd expect to see that throughout the night as
00:03:44well.
00:03:50Play action from Dart has to slide and throws low, but caught.
00:03:54That's the rookie, Malachi Fields, who they love.
00:03:58And just like that, the Giants are inside Rams territory with a 14-yard completion to the rookie from Notre
00:04:05Dame.
00:04:06Well, here's a look at Aaron Donald and, you know, his quickness, and that he's able to get pressure inside.
00:04:14But just a heck of a catch by Malachi Fields, and you see how Dart is able to navigate the
00:04:21pocket.
00:04:22They were trying to take a deep shot down the field.
00:04:24Here's a pass broken up, and it's Quentin Lake who flashed in front with Landman there as well.
00:04:32And it's a pass broken up to bring up second down and 10.
00:04:36Good defensive play by Quentin Lake, who plays safety, plays the nickel spot, and it brings up second down and
00:04:4410.
00:04:49Aaron Donald back in.
00:04:52Chris Shula, in year number three, is defensive coordinator for L.A.
00:04:58Second and 10.
00:05:03Blitz coming from late.
00:05:04It's dropped off to Scadaboo, and a strong tackle is made.
00:05:09That's Cam Curl, who made the stop.
00:05:11A gain of three, and so now third and seven coming up.
00:05:15Well, Cam Curl, he comes in late and drops down, and he's right there.
00:05:20So he's got to be able to make that play.
00:05:22And so with Chris Shula as a defensive coordinator, he's trying to play more aggressive.
00:05:26He's going to have to overload the box in order to be able to handle this run game of the
00:05:31New York Giants.
00:05:31And it's going to create some opportunities down the field for Malik neighbors and Malachi Fields.
00:05:38Saw the numbers nine for 11 on third down last week against Dallas.
00:05:42One for one tonight.
00:05:47Play clock winding down again.
00:05:49Dart backing up.
00:05:52Floats it.
00:05:53And it's incomplete.
00:05:55Theo Johnson could not secure it going to the ground.
00:05:59And there was pressure by Byron Young, and now Dart is hurt and grabbing his leg.
00:06:07Oh, boy.
00:06:09Oh, boy.
00:06:23Dart got hit from above.
00:06:28It's Young up top, and then it's Josiah Stewart, his body coming into the lower part of the body of
00:06:35Jackson Dart.
00:06:39Stick break.
00:06:44Take another look at the hit with Young and Stewart combining to hit and bring down Jackson Dart.
00:06:53You saw the left leg get caught there.
00:06:56Jackson was able to get up and limp off the field a moment ago.
00:07:01And so, obviously, he will undergo tests on the sideline or in the locker room.
00:07:06Cam Scadaboo is trying to fire up his teammates after that jarring sight of watching their 23-year-old quarterback
00:07:13go down.
00:07:13And now the punt from Jordan Stout.
00:07:18And a fair catch just inside the 10 by Xavier Smith.
00:07:25And I think the only saving grace, maybe, for Jackson Dart was the fact that his foot was off the
00:07:31turf, so it wasn't planted.
00:07:33But definitely, that knee-bending ways it's not supposed to.
00:07:37Hope for all Giants fans and for this league, that he's okay.
00:07:40No doubt about that.
00:07:42You see the numbers for Matthew Stafford.
00:07:44He led the league last year in touchdown passes and pass yardage, something he had never done in his 17
00:07:51-year career.
00:07:52Now, year number 18.
00:07:55He's got Kyron Williams behind him, and he hands to Williams, who plows it straight ahead and gets three with
00:08:02D.J. Reeder in to make the stop for the New York Giants.
00:08:06Take a look at the lineup, and we'll take a look at the offensive line with Alaric Jackson at left
00:08:11tackle.
00:08:11They're good, really, all the way across, and the backs and receivers will see a lot of Kyron Williams and
00:08:18Blake Corum and a lot of tight ends.
00:08:20They do not have Puka Nakua, who is out with a hip injury, an injury that's worked its way down
00:08:25into his groin.
00:08:28So he is inactive for this game.
00:08:31Here's Williams on the catch, a spinning grab, and he's brought down immediately after a gain of two.
00:08:38To bring up a third down is Colton Hood, the rookie who gets the start.
00:08:43There's Puka Nakua not available tonight with that hip injury.
00:08:47Colton Hood gets the start tonight for the Giants because their starting corner, Deontay Banks, is out with a calf
00:08:54strand.
00:08:54Yeah, they're banged up in that secondary.
00:08:56Paulson Adevo, he's also out.
00:08:58He was injured last week, and so they were in and out of the lineup last week due to some
00:09:03injuries,
00:09:03and they come into this one minus two of their better players.
00:09:07Extra men on the rush.
00:09:09Rams pick it up, and the throw too low for Devontae Adams.
00:09:13And it's three and out for this Rams team on offense, still looking for a little bit of a rhythm
00:09:18that they could never find when they were playing down under.
00:09:21Yeah, that was an issue last week.
00:09:23They just were never able to sustain any drives.
00:09:26They talk about Matthew Stafford and him not being able to get into a rhythm
00:09:30as we take a look at Jameis Winston, the veteran quarterback who will now be coming into the lineup,
00:09:35but they just failed to convert on third downs in order to get anything going offensively
00:09:41and not the way they wanted to start at this game here tonight.
00:09:45Ethan Evans will punt it away for the Rams.
00:09:52That was short kick.
00:09:54A fair catch is hauled in by Braxton Berrios after just a 38-yard punt.
00:09:59Great field position for the Giants.
00:10:02But Jackson Dart is still in the medical tent.
00:10:05Jameis Winston is out to play football.
00:10:07He's the backup for the Giants.
00:10:09He's about to get to work.
00:10:10No score.
00:10:13A developing story here at SoFi Stadium.
00:10:16As Giants quarterback Jackson Dart is able to walk, as you're seeing,
00:10:19on his own power back to the locker room.
00:10:21He spent some time in the medical tent and had some players come and check on him.
00:10:26It was from this hit.
00:10:27Immediately went to the ground after this and was in noticeable pain.
00:10:31You see the impact on the left knee.
00:10:33When he was taken into the medical tent, athletic trainers looking at him,
00:10:36Malik Nabors and Isaiah Likley came and checked on him.
00:10:40Jameis Winston is now the starting quarterback for the Giants.
00:10:43We'll keep you updated on everything we know about Jackson Dart
00:10:46as we get official word from the Giants.
00:10:48But as we just showed you, he was able to walk back to the locker room on his own.
00:10:52Yeah, Laura, thank you.
00:10:53You can see the look on the face of John Harbaugh.
00:10:57Says it all for the Giants and their fans right now.
00:11:00Yes, yes, yes.
00:11:0632-year-old Jameis Winston, former number one overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
00:11:12out of Florida State back in 2015 hands.
00:11:15And Scadaboo goes forward for three.
00:11:18You know, Joe, it's such a letdown when you lose your starting quarterback
00:11:21that it just buries a lot of teams, especially when a game has just begun.
00:11:26But the one thing is Jameis Winston, he's such an electric personality
00:11:30and a veteran quarterback that, and so well-respected as well within this organization
00:11:35and really every organization that he's been a part of.
00:11:37He's played a lot of football.
00:11:39I expect him to be able to carry this football team.
00:11:42But it's a wild ride typically when Jameis Winston's on the field.
00:11:47Singletary in the backfield.
00:11:49He gets the ball now.
00:11:50His first carry and a nice gain on second down, takes it to the 45, gets five.
00:11:56To bring up a third down and short.
00:11:58We've certainly seen some injuries to good young quarterbacks this week.
00:12:02The dislocated elbow for Jaden Daniels, for the commanders in the Dallas game,
00:12:08and then, of course, Caleb Williams, who went out, as it turns out, with a hamstring injury.
00:12:14News out of the Bears camp today is he is week to week.
00:12:24Third down and two.
00:12:26And hand, Scadaboo's got it.
00:12:30We're going to mark him at the 40, and that's a first down.
00:12:32So they hand it off three times.
00:12:34We still wait for the first throw from Jameis Winston.
00:12:38First down for the Giants.
00:12:42We'll see that kind of move there, Troy.
00:12:44Just to make it official, the return for Dart is questionable.
00:12:48Just to get that out there, sorry.
00:12:50Well, you see Quentin Lake.
00:12:51He is the guy who's the extra defender, and they do such a good job of getting a man on
00:12:57a man defensively,
00:12:58that Quentin Lake being the extra defender, he then has to take that on.
00:13:02And that is going to be the goal each and every play when they want to run the football.
00:13:07They're very diverse in what they do.
00:13:10Pressure on Winston, and he overthrows Theo Johnson.
00:13:18To bring up second and ten.
00:13:22Yeah, they're going to, as I mentioned, Chris Shula is going to be a little bit more aggressive this year.
00:13:26You see the press on the outside.
00:13:27And I thought watching that game last week against San Francisco that they played a little softer than what you
00:13:34would typically like,
00:13:35especially when you go out and you give up what you gave up for Trent McDuffie.
00:13:38You bring in Jalen Watson.
00:13:39Those guys are accustomed to challenging wide receivers and getting physical at the line of scrimmage.
00:13:45You see them now here.
00:13:51Singletary gets one, and Byron Young is in to bring him down.
00:13:56And we'll send it back down to Laura.
00:13:58Well, Joe, as you said, the Giants telling us that Jackson Dart questionable to return with a knee injury.
00:14:03I did want to let you know that he went straight to the locker room here.
00:14:07He did not go into the x-ray room.
00:14:09Now, it doesn't mean that he won't go into the x-ray room, but that's not immediately where he went.
00:14:13We'll continue to keep an eye on it.
00:14:16And it's now third and nine.
00:14:19Aaron Donald back out there to rush Janice Winston.
00:14:24And the defense is left.
00:14:29Winston gets rid of it.
00:14:32Incomplete.
00:14:33And pressure.
00:14:34And now flags.
00:14:36Flags in the secondary.
00:14:38There was pressure on Jameis Winston from Byron Young yet again.
00:14:43And the pass was incomplete.
00:14:49Pass interference.
00:14:51Defense.
00:14:51That's number 17.
00:14:52By rule, the ball is placed at the spot of the foul.
00:14:55Automatic.
00:14:56First down.
00:15:00First penalty of the game.
00:15:01And it gives the Giants a first down.
00:15:05Yeah, the Rams.
00:15:06You're going to see.
00:15:06Here's Devin Singletary.
00:15:08And Cam Curl, number two.
00:15:09He's coming up.
00:15:10He's in man coverage.
00:15:11He thought Singletary was going to stay in and block.
00:15:13Had Jameis Winston have seen that, that was an opportunity for a touchdown because he is beat.
00:15:18But seeing more man coverage.
00:15:21And there's the hold.
00:15:23By Wallace, number 30.
00:15:25The official gave us the wrong number.
00:15:28Brings that first down with the ball sitting at the 34.
00:15:32Hand off to Scannaboo.
00:15:34Flag flies.
00:15:35This time it's the umpire who threw it from behind the offense.
00:15:40And this gain of three is.
00:15:42Holding.
00:15:43Offense, number 76.
00:15:45Ten-yard penalty.
00:15:46First down.
00:15:47Going to be nullified on the hold by John Runyon Jr.
00:16:01Let's take a look at this and see what happened on.
00:16:09Just never let it go.
00:16:11Even when he got a little more trying to come across the formation with all the various looks.
00:16:16That this offense likes to give within their run game.
00:16:21Kona Ford is the one who drew the hold.
00:16:23And it brings up first down and 20.
00:16:25That's Neighbors in motion.
00:16:27And he gets it.
00:16:29Malik Neighbors coming back from his own torn ACL.
00:16:32He's going to lunge forward and get one.
00:16:35He was iffy as to whether he was going to play week one.
00:16:38He was on the fence.
00:16:39He wanted to make sure he felt like he could do it.
00:16:42There's the story that came out of the Giants camp that on Saturday during the walkthrough,
00:16:47he was tackled by John Harbaugh as they tried to just break the ice,
00:16:51let neighbors know that he's okay.
00:16:53And he went out and had six catches for 69 yards.
00:16:57Yeah, he looked good.
00:16:58He really did.
00:16:59And there were some times when he kind of lost his footing.
00:17:02I don't know how much of it was the surface and how much it was just kind of him getting
00:17:06his legs underneath him.
00:17:07But for his first game back, he was really impressive.
00:17:12Second down and 19.
00:17:14Winston.
00:17:16Incomplete for Lightley and good coverage by Lake.
00:17:20Isaiah Lightley, the free agent brought over from the Ravens on a three-year $40 million deal.
00:17:27So good in week one.
00:17:29This time covered well by Quentin Lake.
00:17:31Well, he's really not a tight end.
00:17:33He's more of a big slot receiver.
00:17:34And we saw the impact that he can have on this offense.
00:17:37That was outstanding coverage by Quentin Lake.
00:17:40Good route by Lightley.
00:17:42But Lake hangs in there.
00:17:43And that is really the matchup that they want to see.
00:17:46They feel pretty good.
00:17:47Quentin Lake, he's a good cover man, especially against a bigger body like Isaiah Lightley.
00:17:53Going to have to bite off some of this yardage just to get into field goal range for the rookie
00:17:58Zabata.
00:18:00Third down and 19.
00:18:01And as they try to do it with a screen, it's incomplete for Singletary.
00:18:06And it's Brayden Fisk who had pressure and forced that early throw.
00:18:11It's fourth down.
00:18:12And with that, the punt team will come on for John Harbaugh.
00:18:15Well, they're trying to run the screen.
00:18:17So maybe they don't get the first down.
00:18:19But as you said, Joe, they can get into field goal range.
00:18:21But John Michael Schmitz, the center, I mean, you've got to slow him down a little bit when you're running
00:18:26a screen.
00:18:27You can't just let him rush the quarterback untouched.
00:18:31Jameis, it just did not time up.
00:18:33Winston had no chance at all.
00:18:37Second punt for Stout.
00:18:41Xavier Smith waiting for it.
00:18:43And this one is boomed straight into the end zone.
00:18:50Out to the 20, it will come.
00:18:52Rams ball no score.
00:18:54ESPN's Monday Night Football is brought to you by Geico.
00:18:56With a great service announcement, a coin toss is a great way to make a decision.
00:19:05That's a look from our Skycam powered by Accenture.
00:19:08As we continue, second possession for the Rams.
00:19:13No score.
00:19:15Three and out there first time.
00:19:18We're going to hand here to Cork.
00:19:20And over the right side, he gets stood up.
00:19:24Tyler Newbin was in there for the Giants from his safety spot.
00:19:28And a gain of one on the carry.
00:19:30Yeah, that's a really nice job by Tyler Newbin coming up.
00:19:33He's an excellent box safety and physical.
00:19:37And he's got to take that guy one-on-one.
00:19:39And he does an outstanding job.
00:19:41And Joe, coming into this, that was the area that they really had to address.
00:19:45And they made the trade with Dexter Lawrence.
00:19:47And how are they going to shore up the run game?
00:19:49They were the worst in the league last year.
00:19:52Giving up well over five yards in rush.
00:19:54Had a good outing last week.
00:19:56But what this Rams team was able to do last week in San Francisco, another big test tonight.
00:20:00Yeah, second down.
00:20:02This is the tight end, Ferguson.
00:20:04And Terrence Ferguson lunging.
00:20:06And he looked to be just short of first down yardage by one.
00:20:10He got eight.
00:20:11The third and one coming up.
00:20:15They really can go five deep at the tight end position with the Rams.
00:20:19And this is the young man they drafted last year in the second round out of Oregon.
00:20:23Ended up with 11 catches.
00:20:25And they're trying to get these guys involved.
00:20:27Yeah, and they like the multiple tight end package so much, Joe.
00:20:31They drafted a young man out of Ohio State the second round.
00:20:35And Max Clare, he can't even get on the field because of what's ahead of him.
00:20:39Here's Coren.
00:20:41And a first down for the Rams.
00:20:45This, for Matthew Stafford, is start number 86 as a Ram.
00:20:50He was traded to Los Angeles from Detroit in 2021.
00:20:53The Rams went on to win the Super Bowl on their home turf.
00:20:58And over the first 85 starts, the seven points they scored against the 49ers week one is the fewest of
00:21:04any.
00:21:05Matthew Stafford started games.
00:21:07Well, he's hoping to be back here again February 14th to see if he can't get his second Super Bowl.
00:21:12And, you know, at 38 years old, last year going into the season, he was dealing with a lot with
00:21:18his back.
00:21:19And yet he goes on and has an MVP year.
00:21:22Here is the tight end.
00:21:23And Parkinson with a hurdle and a nice game of six.
00:21:30Colby Parkinson up and over.
00:21:35And a nice catch and run as he went over Drew Phillips.
00:21:38Yeah, more times than not.
00:21:40He had to get up there, too.
00:21:41But more times than not, this does not end particularly well.
00:21:45You know, there's not many Saquon Barkleys out there.
00:21:51I mean, that's a 6'7", 266-pound man going up and over, trying to Phillips.
00:21:58Second and fourth.
00:22:02Fake it to Corham.
00:22:03And now Stanford down the middle.
00:22:05He's got Devontae Adams wide open.
00:22:08And Adams with the biggest play of the night so far for the Rams, a gain of 19 yards.
00:22:13Yeah, you can see the coverage.
00:22:15It's just so much green space out there.
00:22:17And when you go multiple tight ends and then play action off of it, it just really gives
00:22:22you great protection up front.
00:22:25And then it limits what you're able to do on the back end in coverage.
00:22:28And, boy, he was uncontested coming off the line of scrimmage and had a whole lot of area
00:22:32to work.
00:22:33And for Matthew Stafford to find him.
00:22:35Devontae now 33 in his 13th year.
00:22:46They get the blitz.
00:22:48And they hand to Corham.
00:22:50First down, Rams.
00:22:56You can hear Stafford saying the nickel is coming.
00:22:59He did on a blitz, and Corham ran right past him.
00:23:02Yeah, and you're going to see Xavier Smith, the wide receiver.
00:23:05He's the one who picks it up.
00:23:06He's essentially the lead blocker.
00:23:08You've got McClendon at right tackle.
00:23:10He seals the inside.
00:23:11And then Xavier Smith, not a real big guy.
00:23:15He's just 5'9", but he is an outstanding blocker in the run game.
00:23:18And he helps open up that hole, and then Blake Corham hits it.
00:23:23We saw a lot of those types of plays last week right inside the tackles against San Francisco
00:23:28that were effective.
00:23:29More play action.
00:23:30Stafford out to his right.
00:23:32Flag on the play, and Stafford turns it into a positive play.
00:23:38What?
00:23:39Holding.
00:23:40Offense number 84.
00:23:4210-yard penalty.
00:23:43First down.
00:23:44That is Colby Parkinson, the tight end, guilty of a hold that erases that two-year
00:23:48one-yard run by Stafford.
00:23:57Right there.
00:23:58So there's, yeah, he's got a hold of the jersey, sure enough.
00:24:03Just got in there and wasn't able to get squared up and create an angle.
00:24:07The play action game already tonight has been pretty effective overall.
00:24:10And last year, they ran as much play action as anybody, and it's a big part of their success.
00:24:17And it, as I mentioned, when you go, heavy personnel are able to run the football, the play action game.
00:24:25Awfully good.
00:24:26High snap.
00:24:27Quick throw.
00:24:28Ferguson.
00:24:29Strong tackle by Tyler Newton.
00:24:35So they don't have Nakua tonight, the Rams, their top receiver, the guy who led the NFL in catches last
00:24:40year.
00:24:40We've shown him on the sideline 129 a year ago.
00:24:44And over his first 45 career games, the most catches in NFL history for a guy who was a fifth
00:24:51-round pick out of BYU.
00:24:53And so we're seeing the tight ends go to work.
00:24:56And right now, a sustained drive being put together by the Rams as they have a second down here at
00:25:03the Giants 31.
00:25:07Backpedaling.
00:25:08What a catch!
00:25:10Touchdown, Devontae Adams!
00:25:25He may be in his 13th year.
00:25:28But boy, did he show something there.
00:25:30They're up to get it.
00:25:31The throw wasn't great.
00:25:32The catch was.
00:25:37Well, as he comes off the line of scrimmage, Tyler Newbin, the safety, is going to make contact right there.
00:25:43And he's trying to get to the middle of the field.
00:25:46And then you've got Zaire Barnes, who's underneath the throw.
00:25:49Stafford threw it up high where only he could get it.
00:25:52He makes a heck of a play on the ball.
00:25:53Devontae Adams led the league in touchdown catches a year ago.
00:25:57And Matthew Stafford, with that timing broken up because of that little rub on the outside, is able to complete
00:26:04for 31.
00:26:05And Stafford was 5 for 5.
00:26:07And the touchdown on that drive.
00:26:10Adams, two catches for 50.
00:26:12And this score.
00:26:13Yeah, you see this look here.
00:26:14There's contact at the top of the route with Devontae Adams.
00:26:18And as Stafford feels a little pressure and starts to slide, Zaire Barnes, the linebacker, he's underneath that throw.
00:26:25And it's the only place he can put it.
00:26:27And he lays it over the top.
00:26:30And then Devontae Adams does what he does.
00:26:33But that's a great example.
00:26:34When you watch Stafford, we've been watching it for a number of years.
00:26:37It doesn't really matter where he is, how his feet are positioned, his arm angle.
00:26:42He's still extremely accurate, delivering the football where he needs to.
00:26:49And LeBron James is a little sidearm delivery from Matthew Stafford at 38.
00:26:55His eyes may be pointed one way, but the ball ends up sailing another.
00:26:59Yeah, that was good.
00:27:01And on that drive, it finally, I know they had the holding penalty that put him back,
00:27:06but they were able to still finish it off.
00:27:08But that drive started to kind of look like something, that they finally found a little bit of a rhythm.
00:27:17Mavis kicks it away with Berrios on a return.
00:27:26Out near the 27, and that's it.
00:27:28Let's go down to Lisa.
00:27:29Yeah, Joe, Devontae Adams had a message for people this week who were freaking out because of what happened in
00:27:33Australia.
00:27:34He said, you'd be foolish to think that the Rams offense would look like that again.
00:27:37He said, their hype has been there for a reason, and that their confidence was not shaken.
00:27:42You mentioned this is year 13.
00:27:44He said, his favorite part about still playing is the sense of team.
00:27:47He said, I've done everything in the game, but I haven't won a championship, and that's what we're chasing.
00:27:52So he said, to be this deep in his career on a team like this makes it still fun.
00:27:58Yeah, and it's fun to score touchdowns, and Devontae Adams now has 118 touchdown catches in his career.
00:28:04You saw that note, seventh all-time.
00:28:07The six in front of him, all in the Hall of Fame.
00:28:10Neighbors cannot adjust, and then he goes to the sideline holding his arm with coverage by Trent McDuffie.
00:28:17Oh, man.
00:28:20We've already lost Jackson Dart, and now Neighbors in a lot of pain on the sideline with his right arm.
00:28:28Yeah, this, you know, McDuffie is shadowing Neighbors on a good number of these plays.
00:28:34He's the one in coverage in a lot of pain over there on that sideline.
00:28:39So you come in, and you've got your guys healthy with Jackson Dart and Malik Neighbors, and now on second
00:28:48half, Scadaboo gets one.
00:28:51Yeah, you come out of the first quarter, and you've lost your quarterback, and then we'll get a report on
00:28:56exactly what happened with Malik Neighbors.
00:28:59With just a rough first quarter for the Giants, who trail by seven on the road here in Englewood.
00:29:12Just a painful start to this game for the 1-0 Giants.
00:29:16Here is the hit as Dart gets caught between Stewart and Young.
00:29:22He left early, and then moments ago, Malik Neighbors just going up.
00:29:26It didn't look like much on the field, but he is still in pain over on the sideline as he
00:29:31was guarded by McDuffie.
00:29:337-0 game.
00:29:34Start of the second quarter, and a third down and nine for Jameis Winston.
00:29:42Winston is going to be out of the pile of bodies, and now downfield, he's incomplete for Malik High Fields.
00:29:55The beginning of that looked like the beginning of the Tyree catch with Eli Manning.
00:30:00It's like, how did he get out of that?
00:30:01Oh, man.
00:30:01I thought they had blown it dead, but yeah, you're right, Joe.
00:30:04We've got visions of Eli Manning in the Super Bowl, and he gets out of it.
00:30:10But, you know, right now everyone is wondering exactly the severity of the injury to Jackson Dart and Malik Neighbors,
00:30:19and coming in, you just thought, man, they've got these guys healthy for the first time.
00:30:23Can they stay healthy?
00:30:24You know, that's the big question, and they lose two of their big guns before we even get out of
00:30:30the first quarter.
00:30:31Good punt here by Stout.
00:30:34And backing up is Smith.
00:30:36Xavier with a nice return, and then wrestled to the ground after a gallop of 12 yards.
00:30:4561-yard punt.
00:30:50Zaire Barnes with a tackle.
00:30:52Rams ball, second quarter, upset.
00:30:58Here's that moment we have been expecting with Jackson Dart heading out of his locker room, getting on a cart,
00:31:05going to get looked at into the X-ray room, while the Rams take over at their own 22-up
00:31:11-7.
00:31:12And to Williams, flag on the play, and Williams breaking the tackle of Colton Hood and getting four.
00:31:22You get the call from Brad Allen.
00:31:32Holy offense, number four, 10-yard penalty, first down.
00:31:36So against Kanate Mumfield, who gets more playing time tonight with the injury to Pukenakua, and we'll go back down
00:31:42to Laura.
00:31:43We just got word from the Giants, Joe, that Malik Neighbors is questionable to return with a shoulder injury.
00:31:48They were doing some strength tests and grip tests with him.
00:31:51He continued to be in a lot of pain from this injury right here.
00:31:56We'll keep an eye on it, but remember, Neighbors was really excited to come back already from his knee injury
00:32:01from last season.
00:32:02Told me this week he was relieved to take that first hit last week.
00:32:05Unfortunate to see.
00:32:07Here's Devontae Adams.
00:32:08After the Rams were backed up because of the hole, that Adams draws a crowd.
00:32:12Arbel Reese, the rookie, was first there in a gate of just four.
00:32:15Yeah, I mean, so unfortunate.
00:32:17The guy loses his season last year, early in the year, and goes through rehab, gets himself ready, comes back
00:32:24for week one.
00:32:25And as we talked about, really had a nice ball game on that Sunday night win against the Cowboys and
00:32:30excited to see what it was going to look like tonight, not only from him, but the entire offense.
00:32:35And, boy, it just changes dramatically.
00:32:37And on that play, you just don't see a lot there.
00:32:41But the amount of pain that he was in, I'm interested in hearing exactly, you know, what happened with him.
00:32:48No flag, as Alaric Jackson may have started a beat too early.
00:32:53Pats was caught by Terrence Ferguson, a gain of six.
00:32:56Third down coming up.
00:32:58And just to finish with those two that we've seen injured on the offense for the Giants,
00:33:02Jackson Dart and Malik Neighbors over the last two years have played together on the field for a total of
00:33:0770 snaps.
00:33:09With all those injuries last year, add Scadaboo in, who went down in week eight with the fractured and dislocated
00:33:15ankle.
00:33:17We can see these guys get out there for an extended period of time, and that might not happen anytime
00:33:22soon.
00:33:25We're down in 10.
00:33:26It's gravel, gravel.
00:33:34Good protection.
00:33:36Adams is left alone.
00:33:39Devontae's already got one.
00:33:41Down inside the 15.
00:33:55Good pass protection, and the coverage broke down.
00:33:57That is good for 64 yards.
00:34:00Yeah, you're going to see Devontae Adams.
00:34:02It's just a little bit of an out and up.
00:34:04Just a nod, and you've got safeties that are biting on it and hitting it hard.
00:34:07That was such a big third down for this New York Giants defense and gets them to third and long,
00:34:12and they just can't make the stop.
00:34:14But a good job up front, given Matthew Stafford time.
00:34:17He also brought in Kyron Williams to help secure that right edge, which allowed him to hold the ball and
00:34:23let Adams get down the field.
00:34:25Sean McVay wants a timeout after that 64-yard completion.
00:34:29Remember, this drive basically started with a first and 20 because the hold on Mumfield, and now here they are
00:34:38with the ball inside the 15 at the 14 of the Giants, already leading by seven, and Devontae Adams, the
00:34:44three-time All-Pro, is having a night.
00:34:46Yeah, he sure is, and he was going to have to have a night with Puka Nakua out, and we
00:34:52don't see that a lot from Devontae Adams these days.
00:34:55But you're going to see Matthew Stafford, how he moves Kyron Williams, he recognizes he wants to secure that edge
00:35:00pressure.
00:35:01And so he moves him over there to help give a little bit of a chip and secure things, and
00:35:07it buys him a little more time.
00:35:09No one is going to get the look on the outside and just perfectly executed.
00:35:16Hand out to Kyron Williams, who picks his way to the 10th.
00:35:20Rams inside the red zone.
00:35:22They were one for three down there.
00:35:25In Melbourne, against the 49ers defense, a team that was number seven in the red zone last year, converting into
00:35:32touchdowns at over 60%.
00:35:35Yeah, this is an offense that, not accustomed to getting denied too often when they get down here.
00:35:48Devontae Adams trying to catch his breath.
00:35:50He likes being on the field when they're knocking on the door down here.
00:35:53That's right.
00:35:57Second and six.
00:35:59Stanford capes.
00:36:00He's got Smith, and Smith cannot make the catch.
00:36:03Yeah, that's one that Stafford would like to have back, just give him a little bit of an easier ball
00:36:07where he can catch it and run.
00:36:09And, you know, Joe, going back to your point, last week, one of the big turning points was when San
00:36:14Francisco kept the Rams out of the end zone when they ran the quarterback sneak with Stafford, fourth and goal
00:36:20from the one.
00:36:21And, you know, that's where Devontae Adams has been so effective in the red zone.
00:36:26He's able to create so much separation in short spaces, and he wasn't targeted once last week down in that
00:36:33area.
00:36:37Back out there for third and six.
00:36:42Good protection.
00:36:43Stafford end zone.
00:36:44Kyron Williams touchdown.
00:36:46Touchdown.
00:36:48Touchdown.
00:36:51And they're starting to look like the Rams again.
00:37:06And with that, Matthew Stafford is number six on the all-time touchdown pass list with 425.
00:37:15You see Arbel Reese, the rookie, that he's got his eyes in the backfield.
00:37:19And here he comes out of the backfield, and he's not looking and picking up Williams as he's running that
00:37:25route.
00:37:26Pretty easy touchdown for Stafford.
00:37:32That was set up by the Devontae Adams 64-yard catch, and Matthew Stafford has had a great start to
00:37:38this one.
00:37:3910 for 12.
00:37:42157 and two touchdowns.
00:37:44Rams up 14.
00:37:52Tonight's aerial coverage is brought to you by Goodyear.
00:37:55And a great look at this beautiful complex SoFi Stadium in the middle of it.
00:38:00It is the seventh year home of the L.A. Rams in the home to Super Bowl 61.
00:38:08As it was to Super Bowl 56 in the 2021 season, when the Rams beat the Bengals 23-20.
00:38:17Here's a return by Tyrone Tracy.
00:38:19Trying to give his team a spark, and he's brought down near the 33.
00:38:25Time now for our total replay.
00:38:27It's brought to you by USAA.
00:38:29And we look at the night for Aaron Donald.
00:38:35Well, Aaron Donald, he's just going to get a lot of attention, as you can imagine.
00:38:39And also, could you imagine if he was on the field along with Miles Garrett?
00:38:43That was the plan coming in.
00:38:45And, you know, so Aaron Donald finds himself back in the same position that he had been in for all
00:38:51those years.
00:38:52And just getting a lot of attention, two and three different people that are banging on him.
00:38:57And no one there to really take much away from him.
00:39:00Long-time stealer Najee Harris gets his first carry as a Giant was enacted last week and gets two yards
00:39:06to start this drive.
00:39:07And Malik Mavors, that is great.
00:39:10To see him back out there after that shoulder situation we saw moments ago.
00:39:15Yeah, it sure is, Joe.
00:39:16And I do think, however, they have to stick with the run game.
00:39:20I know sometimes that's hard to do when you're down two scores.
00:39:24But there's still plenty of time in this game.
00:39:26And they just cannot turn this into a situation where Jameis is being asked to drop back against these pressures
00:39:35that they're able to provide and try to help out this offensive line.
00:39:42Winston protected.
00:39:43Float said he's got his guy.
00:39:45That's Mooney.
00:39:46Darnell Mooney is out of bounds near the 30.
00:39:48And finally, a completion from Jameis Winston and a big play of 33 yards to set up the Giants, who
00:39:56trail by 14.
00:39:58Well, you can see what the play action does.
00:40:00And it brings people up.
00:40:02And then it opens up things in the back end.
00:40:05And Darnell Mooney, he comes across.
00:40:07He's got the speed.
00:40:08And just nobody back there behind him.
00:40:11Great job by Jameis Winston.
00:40:13Seeing it, locating it, delivering a good football.
00:40:16He's got a good ball.
00:40:29Play clock was expiring.
00:40:31And a handoff is to Harris and Najee Harris with a nice gain of four brought down by Landman.
00:40:40Now, so much of this attack is built around them being physical and running the football, the play action game
00:40:47off of that.
00:40:48And it was so effective.
00:40:51Week one against Dallas.
00:40:52They have not run the ball that well tonight.
00:40:55But they just simply cannot abandon it.
00:41:02Second down and six.
00:41:04Winston able to complete it to Lightley.
00:41:07And Lightley is good for five.
00:41:10So, third down and one.
00:41:12And he gets up hobbling a little bit.
00:41:16And now checks out.
00:41:18There's Matt Nagy on the left.
00:41:20He is listed as the offensive coordinator, former head coach in Chicago, recently with the Chiefs.
00:41:25And Greg Roman on the right.
00:41:26He's got a ping pong back and forth between John and Jim Harbaugh in his tremendous NFL career.
00:41:34Yes, he has.
00:41:40Winston's going to try and pick it up with his legs.
00:41:43And, I don't know, rather a fortuitous spot.
00:41:48Although, from the near official, he looked to be short.
00:41:51It is fourth down.
00:41:53And you would have to expect the Giants will go for it here on fourth and inches.
00:41:57Yeah, I think that was the idea.
00:41:58If he didn't make it, that they'd come right back.
00:42:01And here comes Cam Scadaboo.
00:42:09John Harbaugh is trying to get the play clock reset.
00:42:12And he gets his wish.
00:42:23They do it again with Winston.
00:42:25And where are they going to put it down?
00:42:30Looked to be enough.
00:42:40We have an official timeout for a virtual measurement.
00:42:44We'll have the virtual measurement, but if our virtual lines mean virtually anything, it's going to virtually be a first
00:42:51down.
00:42:51Yeah, I think it is going to be a first down.
00:42:53They were packed in there pretty good.
00:42:55But, I mean, there was, you got Nate Landman, who came over the top as well.
00:43:00There was not much movement.
00:43:12I feel like John Harbaugh, here's another look at it.
00:43:21That guy's flying over the top, trying to stop Winston, who was able to drive to what looked to be
00:43:27enough for a first down.
00:43:29But we're going to get the virtual measurement here.
00:43:32As Winston is still on top of bodies and not even down yet.
00:43:39Here comes the virtual measurement.
00:43:47It's a first down.
00:43:52Just started to say, I mean, you can see the look on John Harbaugh's face.
00:43:58And I don't know how you're not dazed and a little stunned with the way this has started over there.
00:44:03And the Giants want to know.
00:44:05They're in here.
00:44:05They've got Winston.
00:44:06They've got to snap out of it as much as their hearts are broken after the injury to Jackson Dart
00:44:11and go on about trying to win a football game.
00:44:14Yeah, not easy to do, but there's no question.
00:44:17You spend that amount of time in the offseason and the training camp, and you come in, you come off
00:44:21that big win, and here you are in week two.
00:44:25I know I speak for a lot of Giants fans that are absolutely devastated right now.
00:44:29Los Angeles is challenging the ruling on the field of a first down.
00:44:36Well, Sean McVay is going to challenge it.
00:44:38I don't know that we've seen anything that would lead to a reversal.
00:44:42The call on the field is first down.
00:44:48But Sean McVay says, why not?
00:44:50His team leads 14 to nothing.
00:44:54Is it a first down for the Giants?
00:44:55We'll find out when we come back.
00:45:01As we welcome you back, the announcement was made that the challenge was unsuccessful.
00:45:09So you want to continue playing quarterback.
00:45:13Play action from Winston.
00:45:15He's got a lot of room in front of him.
00:45:16Throws out of the reach and nowhere near Theo Johnson.
00:45:19He had him open and missed him by a lot.
00:45:22Yeah, I'm with you, Joe.
00:45:23I mean, he came out after that play fake, and there was nobody.
00:45:27I know he's not really known as a runner, but you're going to see all this field that he had
00:45:32out in front of him.
00:45:33See, the defense bites on the action.
00:45:35You've got man coverage.
00:45:36Nobody then is accounting for the quarterback.
00:45:39When you get that look, I, that's one he would definitely have liked to have just kept and ran with
00:45:47himself.
00:45:51Second down and 10 is the hand of Scadaboo.
00:45:53Not much over the right side.
00:45:56And so now he threw it down with seven minutes left in the first half.
00:46:02Kobe Turner was in there on the stop.
00:46:04Kobe Turner, part of that outstanding draft in 2023 that these Rams had.
00:46:10Byron Young, a part of that class as well.
00:46:13They've done so well without first-round picks that have traded away over the years,
00:46:17just backfilling this roster with outstanding talent.
00:46:21Les Snead doing that.
00:46:23Sean McVay doing that year after year.
00:46:27Third inning.
00:46:33Winston is going to be picked easily.
00:46:37Intercepted by McDuffie.
00:46:39Neighbors the target and a takeaway for this Rams defense.
00:46:54Can't McDuffie traded here from Kansas City, had one pick last year where the Chiefs game two is a Los
00:47:02Angeles Ram out of the right hand of number 19 and right into his gut.
00:47:08Rams ball up 14.
00:47:19ESPN's Monday Night Football brought to you by United Airlines.
00:47:22Good leads the way.
00:47:24Progressive get home and auto coverage you can count on at progressive.com.
00:47:31And McDonald's.
00:47:33This season marks the fifth anniversary of the Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl season.
00:47:38Defeated the Bengals 23-20 here.
00:47:41There's Witt.
00:47:42Andrew Whitworth on the left.
00:47:44Aaron Donald a huge part of that.
00:47:46And now back with the Rams as L.A. takes over after the McDuffie interception.
00:47:53And they hand a quorum for five and we go back to the interception.
00:47:56Well, this is why he gave up all those picks to Trent McDuffie.
00:47:59He's locked up one-on-one.
00:48:01The safety is not even worried about the outside.
00:48:03He's doubling the inside on Mooney.
00:48:05And McDuffie, he knows exactly what's coming.
00:48:08He's got outside leverage.
00:48:09He knows he's got the end line, so he's able to undercut that throw.
00:48:13And he was right in his hip the entire way.
00:48:15Now, in Jameis Winston's defense, he had Byron Young, who was on a game on a five-man rush,
00:48:20who was coming unblocked right in his face.
00:48:23And he kind of unloaded it probably more than a little sooner than what he wanted.
00:48:28But McDuffie had the angle and just played it perfectly.
00:48:33Second down and five for the Rams.
00:48:34Good protection.
00:48:35There's no pressure on Stafford.
00:48:37And this one downfield and picked.
00:48:40Intercepted by Holland, his second one in as many weeks.
00:48:44And the Giants get it right back.
00:48:54I think Matthew Stafford just got a little greedy on that one.
00:48:58Javon Holland, he's hoping to move him.
00:49:00Stafford's hoping to move him this way so he can get the one-on-one here.
00:49:04You can see as Stafford comes back, he's going to try to move Holland to his right.
00:49:10He doesn't bite, and he comes back, especially with a tight split inside the numbers.
00:49:15You've got a middle safety like that.
00:49:17You just have no chance.
00:49:18He's essentially saying, okay, it's two-on-one, but I have so much trust in Devontae Adams
00:49:24that he'll go up and make a play.
00:49:26And yet Holland, he has been a ball hawk.
00:49:28The interception you talked about last week really changed that game before half
00:49:32and then comes up with a big play after the interception by Jameis Winston.
00:49:44Jameis Winston finds Scadaboo.
00:49:47Spates can't bring him down, and Scadaboo doing his thing.
00:49:51And a leap, and gets dumped on the sideline.
00:49:55And there'll be no flag for a late hit.
00:49:58He left the ground before he got to the sideline.
00:50:03But I tell you, Cam Scadaboo, I hope he can stay healthy because he is fun to watch.
00:50:09I mean, he is looking for contact.
00:50:11He's not going down.
00:50:12He's been running like this since he was in high school.
00:50:15I mean, it's pretty crazy watching him, but he's going to take some punishment.
00:50:19And after some of the injuries we've already seen,
00:50:23I just hope he'll stay upright.
00:50:24But he is a baller.
00:50:26A 19-yard catch and run by Scadaboo.
00:50:32They fake the handoff to him, and Winston is not comfortable back there at all.
00:50:38Wesley Bailey gets his first.
00:50:42A rookie from Louisville.
00:50:45And a guy who just forced his way onto this roster by how he played during the summer,
00:50:50and in camp gets his first sack.
00:50:52Well, you're going to see as he comes off the edge,
00:50:54and once he gets above the quarterback and Winston steps up,
00:50:58he does a great job of peeling off of that block from Illuminor and making a play.
00:51:03And these guys like him.
00:51:05Desjuan Johnson, of course, we talked about Josiah Stewart.
00:51:07Those guys are going to get more opportunities now with the injury to Miles Garrett.
00:51:13And off to Singletary, and a gain of just two.
00:51:19And we're under four minutes to go, a third down and an eight,
00:51:22with the ball sitting just inside Rams territory in a 14-point game.
00:51:28By the way, there's Dart, who was injured early, Jameis Winston,
00:51:34and that's it on the depth chart for the New York Giants,
00:51:39who are hoping that Winston can stay upright.
00:51:43Malik Neighbors on the sideline on third and eighth.
00:51:55Winston leaning back as he threw it out to his left,
00:51:59and he is well short of Darnell Mooney.
00:52:02And Winston is not looking comfortable back there at all.
00:52:07No, he's not.
00:52:08And he got the man coverage that he's wanting.
00:52:09It's pretty good play design that they're trying to then get a rub
00:52:13because the Rams have been playing more man coverage.
00:52:15And you stack them over there on that left side,
00:52:18you see that if he's able to just deliver the ball,
00:52:21he's got Quinton Lake in coverage.
00:52:22Just put the ball on him.
00:52:23That's a first down.
00:52:25So, they got the right play call for the right coverage
00:52:28and just not able to execute the play.
00:52:31Looked like Winston just said to himself,
00:52:33I got to get right.
00:52:35He does not look comfortable at all.
00:52:37Good coverage downfield as Xavier Smith is brought down
00:52:40after a 42-year punt by Malachi Fields.
00:52:44And there is no flag on the play.
00:52:52They picked it up.
00:52:54Texas A&M against number 10 LSU.
00:52:57Went off that loss at Ole Miss.
00:53:02Hand-off is to Kyron Williams.
00:53:04And a nice hole over the right side.
00:53:06The ball come out.
00:53:11There's a pile-up for the football.
00:53:13And Kyron Williams may have put it on the ground.
00:53:15It looks like he did.
00:53:16And we'll see who gets it.
00:53:19That would be the break.
00:53:20He definitely puts the ball on the ground.
00:53:22That would be the break that the Giants are looking for.
00:53:29Maybe Javon Holland might have had an opportunity
00:53:31at the ball when it came out.
00:53:33There he is at the bottom, number eight.
00:53:36And then it's a strong.
00:53:40And the Giants say they have it, but there's been no signal yet.
00:53:48And it is New York Giants football.
00:53:53And Javon Holland is the one who comes away with it.
00:53:58He forced the fumble and then recovered it.
00:54:01Coming off that interception the last time.
00:54:03And look at this punch-out.
00:54:04That's a great job by Holland on the punch-out.
00:54:08I didn't realize he was the guy who knocked it loose.
00:54:10He's also the guy who then immediately is able to get on it
00:54:13as he is wrestling with Kyron Williams at the bottom of this pile.
00:54:17But that's a great job by him.
00:54:21You got him coming through the line
00:54:24and just going right at the football
00:54:27and giving this Giants team a little bit of a lift here before half.
00:54:32Rams with turnovers on their last two snaps.
00:54:35And it's Javon Holland who's made the plays both times.
00:54:39And he's doing everything he can to get the Giants back in the game.
00:54:43And New York takes over at the 11-yard line of the Rams, down 14.
00:54:59Aaron Donald not out there.
00:55:00Toss to Tracy.
00:55:02And a nice job by Spates coming up to make the play.
00:55:05A flag is down on it,
00:55:07and it's going to be a call against the Rams for an offside.
00:55:12Offside.
00:55:13Offside.
00:55:14Defense, number 55.
00:55:15Lange up in the neutral zone.
00:55:17Five-yard penalty.
00:55:19Still first down.
00:55:21That's against Fisk,
00:55:22and that takes away that three-yard loss on that tackle by Spates.
00:55:26Yeah, Spates does a nice job.
00:55:28You know, the Giants, they came up, they pack everything down.
00:55:30You see how tight.
00:55:32Right here.
00:55:37Definitely is in the neutral zone,
00:55:39and then they try to pitch it out wide
00:55:41and don't have a blocker on Spates,
00:55:43but they pick up some easy yardage.
00:55:45See if they ride Scadaboo.
00:55:47It's first down and five.
00:55:55Toss to Cam.
00:55:56Kind of a tight formation and a short toss,
00:55:59and Scadaboo got maybe half a yard.
00:56:04And if the Giants want,
00:56:06they can let it run down to the two-minute warning here
00:56:08before second down.
00:56:10Yeah, that just did not look right.
00:56:12It looked like Malachi Fields is supposed to
00:56:16be timing that up a little bit differently with Ricard,
00:56:19and then Malachi is right in the cutback lane,
00:56:24which is where the play was designed to go.
00:56:30And Harbaugh and Nagy
00:56:34and Greg Roman will have a chance
00:56:37to talk about this big second down
00:56:39and this opportunity after the giveaway
00:56:41by Kyron Williams.
00:56:42Here before half, two minutes left.
00:56:44Giants knocking on the door, down 14.
00:56:51In the first half here in Englewood
00:56:53at SoFi Stadium,
00:56:54opportunity knocking for the Giants,
00:56:56down 14.
00:56:57Second down
00:56:58and five from the six.
00:57:03Scadaboo on the sideline
00:57:04and a handoff to Nagy Harris,
00:57:06and he's down to the three.
00:57:14Scadaboo stays put for the moment.
00:57:20And now,
00:57:21Isaiah Likely, Darnell Mooney,
00:57:23and Malik Neighbors check in,
00:57:24and how much do the Giants trust
00:57:26Jameis Winston to throw the ball down here?
00:57:30It's got a rough start.
00:57:31Yeah, you've got to believe
00:57:33they're in four-down territory,
00:57:35and they've got nothing but touchdown on their mind,
00:57:37so they've got two downs to punch it in.
00:57:40Pretty good start there
00:57:41with Nagy Harris running the football
00:57:43on second down.
00:57:45Rams call a timeout.
00:57:48And that is their final timeout.
00:57:50We'll remind you that coming up
00:57:51on the All-State halftime,
00:57:53we'll have first-half takeaways.
00:57:57Rumor's fastest three minutes
00:57:59is coming up at the half
00:58:01with Scott Van Pelt,
00:58:02Jason Kelsey,
00:58:03and Pat McAfee.
00:58:05Giants in this game,
00:58:06they've got six possessions now.
00:58:08Five of them have reached midfield or better,
00:58:11and here they are
00:58:11with a third down and two
00:58:14with a ball at the three.
00:58:20Rams, by the way,
00:58:21had to call a timeout.
00:58:22They only had ten men on the field.
00:58:25Yeah, I'd like it a lot more
00:58:26if you have Patrick Picard out there
00:58:28as your lead blocker
00:58:29and just get big
00:58:30and see if you can't move some people around.
00:58:38Scadaboo's still on the sideline.
00:58:42Najee Harris in the game.
00:58:47He gets it
00:58:48and goes nowhere.
00:58:51Aaron Donald was in there for the Rams.
00:58:54And it's fourth down.
00:59:04Well, you got Aaron Donald.
00:59:05He gets inside,
00:59:07and then
00:59:08it's Cam Curl coming off the edge,
00:59:10and between the two of them,
00:59:12I mean, they meet
00:59:12right at the ball carrier.
00:59:15Just not
00:59:16any movement whatsoever.
00:59:18I mean, the Giants had three wide receivers
00:59:20and no Cam Scadaboo on the field
00:59:22on easily the biggest down
00:59:24of this first half.
00:59:25Yeah, I thought, Joe,
00:59:26they would look,
00:59:27of course, I think they would have
00:59:28if they'd gotten anything there
00:59:29on third down,
00:59:29but I'd go three,
00:59:31third down, fourth down,
00:59:33certainly with Patrick Picard.
00:59:35Now, Najee Harris,
00:59:36he has 20 pounds on
00:59:37on Cam Scadaboo.
00:59:39Here is Zavano,
00:59:40the rookie,
00:59:41who knocks through a chip shot
00:59:42from 24 yards out,
00:59:44and that's his first NFL attempt
00:59:47in a regular season game.
00:59:49And this Rams defense
00:59:51stiffens up.
00:59:52That is now six straight
00:59:53third down stops
00:59:54for the Rams defense
00:59:55after the Kyron Williams fumble,
00:59:57and the Giants are held
00:59:58out of the end zone.
00:59:59They're just trying to find
01:00:00something to feel good about
01:00:01here before the half.
01:00:02Yeah, no doubt.
01:00:03I mean, they lose yardage
01:00:05there on third down.
01:00:06You know, John Harbaugh
01:00:07really didn't have a choice
01:00:08other than they've got to
01:00:09come away with some points,
01:00:10but what a disappointment.
01:00:11I mean, you've got Javon Holland
01:00:13who comes up with a big play
01:00:15at the right time before half,
01:00:17and you're just not able
01:00:18to punch it in at all
01:00:19offensively.
01:00:20That's a big momentum swing.
01:00:21It would have been the other way
01:00:22had the Giants have been able
01:00:23to close the gap,
01:00:24of course, make a stop here,
01:00:26but close the gap
01:00:26to a one-possession game
01:00:27going in at half.
01:00:28That would have really
01:00:29lifted them going in.
