00:00:00Of course, make a stop here, but close the gap to one possession game going in at half.
00:00:04That would have really lifted them going in, but this is a real disappointing possession there for New York.
00:00:14That's where Scadaboo was on the bench.
00:00:19Last couple plays of that possession.
00:00:21Took over at the 11-yard line after the fumble and cannot get it in.
00:00:30The Rams, who have 25 seconds and no timeouts, lead by 11.
00:00:34You know, when you come in like that, Joe, as a road team against what most have picked to be
00:00:42the NFC favorite to go to the Super Bowl,
00:00:45those are the things that you just can't do.
00:00:48You've got to capitalize on the opportunities that you get because you're just not going to get many of them.
00:00:54They just have not been able to do that here tonight so far.
00:01:01Rams, by the way, get the ball to start the second half.
00:01:03How aggressive are they going to be here?
00:01:06No timeouts.
00:01:07And they're handed.
00:01:09Williams bounces it over the right side, and now you might have a chance.
00:01:13Yeah, I think they were content if he doesn't get much.
00:01:16I think they were content with just running out the clock, but now they've got other things in mind.
00:01:20And they definitely can, with time on the clock, put themselves in a position to at least come away with
00:01:26a field goal attempt.
00:01:27Yeah, that was a 13-yard carry.
00:01:28Andy got out of bounds.
00:01:32Mavis, he was hitting pregame kicks of 60-plus.
00:01:39Rams franchise record 61 yards by Greg DeLague-Zerlein.
00:01:44And they can work the middle of the field.
00:01:46They have time with 19 seconds if they can get on the ball and clock it.
00:01:52No pressure on Stafford.
00:01:54That's been the case all night.
00:01:56And that's Adams.
00:01:57He's got the catch to the 25.
00:02:00Working against Newsom.
00:02:02And now they have to hurry and try to get a snap.
00:02:09And they do.
00:02:1827 yards to Devontae Adams to set up this opportunity and time left to get up and clock it.
00:02:25Newsom, that's a great catch by him.
00:02:27I mean, the things that he's able to do.
00:02:29But Newsom, he does everything he can to try to keep him from being able to get the ball reset.
00:02:35The officials are right there.
00:02:36I thought they were going to get involved.
00:02:39But they did not.
00:02:41But they still were able to get it stopped.
00:02:43And with that, a 43-yard try coming up from Harrison Mavis as the Rams trying to get those three
00:02:49points right back.
00:02:52And he missed it.
00:02:54Wide left.
00:03:02And that is the first attempt of the season for Mavis, who pulled it.
00:03:10Let's send it down to Laura Rutledge.
00:03:12All right.
00:03:13Thank you, Joe.
00:03:13John, what have you been told about the severity of Jackson Dart's knee injury?
00:03:16We're just focusing on the next second half right now and trying to find a way to win the game.
00:03:20We're not thinking about that right now.
00:03:21What is going to be key in the second half to find a way to win this one?
00:03:24Well, we'd like to score in the red zone right there.
00:03:26That's something we need to do.
00:03:27We need to score points.
00:03:28Field goals aren't going to win this game at this point.
00:03:30Thank you, John.
00:03:32Joe.
00:03:33Thanks to John Harbaugh for stopping by.
00:03:35Just kind of a sick feeling from the start with the injury to Jackson Dart.
00:03:39Giants go in to talk about it as they trail by 11.
00:03:43Rams get the ball to start the second half.
00:03:45Stay tuned.
00:03:46The All-State halftime comes your way next.
00:03:49This is the All-State halftime.
00:03:5614-3.
00:03:57Rams up a missed field goal as L.A. is unable to answer the Giants three they got after the
00:04:04turnover.
00:04:05Jason Kelce, Pat McIntyre, Scott Van Pelt with you here at SoFi at the half.
00:04:08And, fellas, the storyline this week in the National Football League.
00:04:11Unfortunate injuries at the quarterback position.
00:04:14Williams and Daniels out and now.
00:04:17Dart on the very first series for New Yorkers out.
00:04:19I can't imagine the energy that sucks out of this New York team that comes in with such positivity.
00:04:24How have they responded?
00:04:25Yeah, a lot of positivity and a lot of conversation about Jackson Dart staying healthy this year
00:04:29as opposed to what has happened in the past.
00:04:32Very unlucky hit as his knee kind of hyperextends.
00:04:35Obviously, he's ruled out.
00:04:37Well, then you immediately follow that up with another backup quarterback.
00:04:40And whenever Jameis Winston comes in, you know you have a guy with a lot of experience,
00:04:44as we hope that Jackson Dart is in long term here.
00:04:46But Jameis Winston has a lot of experience.
00:04:48And the backup quarterback position is now proving to be very vital.
00:04:52You go all the way back to Sam Darnold, night one, through lock for Seattle.
00:04:56Carson Wentz has played.
00:04:57Marcus Mariota.
00:04:59Tyson Bajan.
00:04:59It's Jameis Winston now in a series of backup quarterbacks.
00:05:03Yeah, I mean, it's unfortunate because Jackson Dart was off to such a great star this year.
00:05:06And the offense looked really comfortable.
00:05:08When you throw a backup quarterback in, that's the biggest thing you miss.
00:05:11Right?
00:05:12You get in the huddle, it just feels a little bit different.
00:05:13It comes out of the quarterback's mouth different.
00:05:15Now they have half time to kind of regroup.
00:05:17Hopefully, they're in there.
00:05:18They're making sure they're on top of the snap count, all the kills, all the checks.
00:05:21This is their time to maybe get a little bit more comfortable with Jameis Winston.
00:05:25One of the huge storylines we covered on Countdown was the absence of Buka Nakua
00:05:30and how that might unlock Devontae Adams, who is relatively quiet in Australia
00:05:34as much of the Rams offense was.
00:05:36Jason, this is vintage Stafford and Devontae.
00:05:40Listen, I know they didn't play well last week.
00:05:42And a lot of people probably are overvaluing that performance
00:05:46because they're showing what they have been for the majority of their career together tonight.
00:05:50Like, Devontae is going off.
00:05:53He's having an incredible game.
00:05:54Stafford is back on rhythm.
00:05:55The running game is working.
00:05:56This offense has really found its rhythm and what they have been tonight.
00:06:00Yeah, Devontae has the late hands, the great route, the get-off.
00:06:04Everything about him screams Hall of Famer.
00:06:06And now tonight, he's going back in time as the number one wide receiver.
00:06:10Stafford obviously loves that.
00:06:12Late, you've got to make that kick, though, especially after Devontae takes that catch.
00:06:15We'll see what that does for the second half.
00:06:18What a luxury, though, to have without Puka, as good as there is,
00:06:21to have someone as talented and as capable as Devontae.
00:06:24He has flexed tonight in this first half.
00:06:26More from so far.
00:06:28Rams up at the half by 11.
00:06:34You're watching the All-State Halftime.
00:06:37All-State.
00:06:39You're in good hands.
00:06:42Lights are presented by Target.
00:06:44It is a beautiful night in Southern California.
00:06:48What a catch!
00:06:50Touchdown, Devontae Adams!
00:06:53Adams is left alone.
00:06:54Oh, just so much green space out there.
00:06:57End zone, Kyron Williams!
00:06:58And they're starting to look like the Rams again.
00:07:03At Target, all that's new and uniquely you is in the bag.
00:07:09First half is in the bag on a pleasant night in Southern California.
00:07:13Sun is setting.
00:07:15And to the second half we go.
00:07:17Rams will start this half with the football.
00:07:20Moments ago, Lisa Seltzer's caught up with Sean McVay.
00:07:24We'll give you that after the return.
00:07:28Smith can't get the handle.
00:07:31Stumbled around back inside the five.
00:07:33And he is lucky to cross the ten.
00:07:36Here's Lisa with Sean.
00:07:39Thank you, Joe.
00:07:40Sean, what seems to have gotten back on track with your offense tonight?
00:07:44Well, we made some big plays in the past game, Lisa.
00:07:47You know, we haven't run it as well as we'd like.
00:07:49And then, you know, the two turnovers hurt us.
00:07:51It was a great stop by our defense.
00:07:53Getting field goal range there.
00:07:54Would have loved to tackle on the points.
00:07:56But let's go see if we can get something with this drive starting off.
00:07:58How has Aaron Donald looked to you so far?
00:08:00Aaron's looked great.
00:08:01He's really impacted a lot of positive things.
00:08:03I think our defense is feeding off his energy.
00:08:05They've been a real positive for you.
00:08:06All right, thanks for your time.
00:08:07Go.
00:08:09Lisa, thank you.
00:08:10Here is a carry by Blake Cora.
00:08:13And over the right side, he's able to get three.
00:08:16And we're underway in the second half.
00:08:18Some big plays, as Sean said, downfield.
00:08:21And a huge first half for their weapon on the outside without Puka Nakua.
00:08:26Devontae Adams, five for 145 and a touchdown.
00:08:29Yeah, no, he looked awfully good.
00:08:31The big play, of course.
00:08:32And then Matthew Stafford, he got into a rhythm.
00:08:36Now, a couple of turnovers that obviously affected them.
00:08:40And then the missed field goal.
00:08:41So, it's been far from perfect, but much better than what we saw in week one.
00:08:49Stafford keeps.
00:08:51Slings it.
00:08:52Atwell.
00:08:54And a nice throw and catch is Tutu Atwell, who was drafted by this team.
00:08:59Left.
00:08:59Traded back from Miami.
00:09:01Needed tonight.
00:09:02Gets 19.
00:09:03Well, that's a nice job with motion by Tutu Atwell.
00:09:06You see the speed that he has and how he's able to get the rookie, Colton Hood, turned around.
00:09:12And then Stafford lays it out there.
00:09:14But this is a, we talked about it, Joe.
00:09:16This is a secondary that, on the outside, they're without Deontay Banks, without Paulson Adibo.
00:09:22They're thin, and the Rams have kind of gone after, that's why they've thrown the ball the
00:09:28way that they have against a lot of these zone looks that the Giants have been playing.
00:09:33Stafford keeps again, a blitz from Reese.
00:09:36And this one is incomplete, and we'll check in with Laura Rutledge.
00:09:40Joe, the Giants just told me the quarterback, Jackson Dart, is officially ruled out of this
00:09:45game.
00:09:46And this just happened in the tunnel, actually.
00:09:48I witnessed one of the athletic training staff members going up to another staff member and
00:09:52saying they just took his uniform.
00:09:54Here's the injury that we're referring to, that left knee.
00:09:57Another comment I wanted to provide for you guys is that Joe Shane, the GM of the Giants,
00:10:01just walked past me.
00:10:02His quote to me was, he's going to be okay.
00:10:05They're still finding more information.
00:10:06He did receive x-rays, though, here at the stadium.
00:10:09Okay.
00:10:10We'll hang our hat on that for the moment.
00:10:13Second down and 10.
00:10:14Again, Giants have got to get pressure on Stafford.
00:10:17And this throw is up on Terrence Ferguson too quick.
00:10:21He wasn't ready.
00:10:23And it'll be third down and 10.
00:10:25But you've got to bring pressure.
00:10:26You've got to bring extra guys in the blitz.
00:10:27Something to make the ball come out faster.
00:10:30Stafford's had all day back there.
00:10:31Yeah, he has.
00:10:32They've done a nice job with their protection plan up front, buying him some time.
00:10:36And they did have to bring the inside linebacker.
00:10:39You're trying to get the ball out into the flat.
00:10:41Safety's coming down to cover.
00:10:43Just got on, got on him in a hurry.
00:10:45But right now, I think for the New York Giants, you get them to third and long,
00:10:49this becomes a big down in getting off the field.
00:10:56Rams have converted three straight third downs.
00:11:00Stafford.
00:11:01Nice drive and incomplete.
00:11:03Canate Munfield was the target.
00:11:07And the Giants defense makes a stop to bring up fourth down and bring the punt team on.
00:11:12Well, it's a nice job too.
00:11:13It just gets away from Matthew Stafford just a little bit.
00:11:17He's almost, he's close to being able to hold that in.
00:11:19Would have been a heck of a catch.
00:11:20The Giants, they bring five.
00:11:24Just not quite able to make the play.
00:11:27But a good job defensively for the Giants being able to get the ball right back to their offense.
00:11:38Evans, it's a line drive that Barrios, let's go over his head and into the end zone.
00:11:44And so now Aaron Donald and this Rams defense back to work.
00:11:49They welcomed him back tonight after two years away.
00:11:53Affecting the defense, affecting the Giants.
00:11:5511-point game.
00:11:59As we welcome you back, we'll give you a look from our Skycam powered by Accenture.
00:12:05First possession for the Giants here in the second half as they take over at their own 20 after the
00:12:11punt.
00:12:13And Jameis Winston, in relief of the injured Jackson Dart, tosses to Scadaboo.
00:12:19And there's nowhere to go.
00:12:21And is able to get a yard.
00:12:27Cam Curl, Byron Young combining on that stop.
00:12:31And with Jackson Dart injured, you look at the numbers and the drives and everything else.
00:12:37Tonight is a different story.
00:12:39And we have yet to see Jameis Winston settle in.
00:12:42Yeah, it's a different story simply because they've been unable to get the running game going the way that they
00:12:47did last week.
00:12:48So, without that, then all of the play action and really the meat and potatoes of this offense kind of
00:12:55goes away.
00:12:56Winston, good throw here and it's likely in a flag flies.
00:13:02For the moment, Isaiah likely has a first down.
00:13:12Illegal contact, defense number 35.
00:13:15The penalty has declined.
00:13:17The result of the play is a first down.
00:13:19So, that's against Jalen Watson, who was the free agent added from Kansas City after Trent McDuffie was traded here.
00:13:28And here's a look at that completion to likely.
00:13:31Well, they're trying to shore up the protection.
00:13:33So, they go with a six-man protection.
00:13:35Patrick Ricard, the fullback, he stays in and buys Winston some time.
00:13:39But I'm impressed with what Chris Shula has done.
00:13:43Now, they're in zone coverage there.
00:13:44But they've been playing a lot more man coverage than what we're accustomed to seeing from Chris Shula as a
00:13:50defensive play call.
00:13:51We've got Ricard blocking for Skataboo.
00:13:55And a pile of people is pushed up near the 40 of game six.
00:14:00I asked Cam Skataboo what it was like to have a lead blocker like Patrick Ricard.
00:14:07I said, I bet you've never had one like him.
00:14:08He talked about in high school how he was about 30 pounds bigger than his lead blocker was.
00:14:16Yeah, he – you get Patrick Ricard leading the hole and then Cam Skataboo coming in behind it with his
00:14:24physical style of play.
00:14:26I mean, that's a load for any defense, but they've held up well.
00:14:30Looked like there was a false start, and there was.
00:14:35Prior to the snap, false start.
00:14:37Offense, number 84.
00:14:39Five-yard penalty.
00:14:40Check it down.
00:14:42That's against Theo Johnson.
00:14:44Sorry, Joe, this Rams defense, you know, where they needed to shore things up was really on the back end,
00:14:50and particularly at corner, which obviously they did when they got Trent McDuffie and Jalen Watson.
00:14:55But, you know, their front seven last year, I mean, that's a good group,
00:15:00even before you bring in Miles Garrett or when Aaron Donald comes back.
00:15:05And so a little different challenge tonight for this New York Giants offense
00:15:10trying to run the football from where they were a week ago.
00:15:14Second down and ten.
00:15:16The screen does not work.
00:15:18And that's Landman who makes the play as he brings down Skataboo immediately
00:15:22in a loss of two to bring up third and long.
00:15:25Good play by the fifth-year linebacker.
00:15:27Well, John Michael Schmitz, the left guard, or excuse me, right in the middle at center,
00:15:32he's the guy who's got to pick off Landman.
00:15:35And so it just doesn't quite time out.
00:15:38You see right here, if he's able to get there, if they're able to slow it down just a touch
00:15:43in the pass,
00:15:44and they're able to get John Michael Schmitz on Landman,
00:15:48boy, that was set up for a huge gain in that man coverage.
00:15:54Now third down and 12.
00:15:56Winston.
00:15:57Ducks.
00:15:59Heaves.
00:16:00Neighbors.
00:16:01McDuffie.
00:16:02Incomplete.
00:16:07Well, that looked like he had his hands on that one.
00:16:09That was just throw it up and see if your best receiver can make a play on the ball.
00:16:14It looked like he might have had a chance.
00:16:17Now it's certainly being contested.
00:16:18You see McDuffie on the outside.
00:16:20He's cluing in.
00:16:21He knows when the ball is going up.
00:16:26Couldn't quite tell if McDuffie.
00:16:27Here's a better look at it as to whether or not McDuffie got a hand on it.
00:16:30He sure did.
00:16:31He sure did.
00:16:31I didn't see that initially.
00:16:34That's a great job by McDuffie making a play on the ball.
00:16:39The punt by Stout.
00:16:41Xavier Smith backs up near the 11.
00:16:46And he can't get to the 15 well covered.
00:16:49That was the third time the Neighbors has worked against McDuffie tonight.
00:16:54The addition from KC.
00:16:56No catches against McDuffie for Neighbors.
00:17:00The Venice Canals on a beautiful night.
00:17:02Home team up 11.
00:17:05We've got the NBA represented in that suite.
00:17:08We've got Pat McAfee and Janet Jones Gretzky and Jason Kelsey and the great one right in the middle.
00:17:15We celebrate the return of 199 and look at another great Wayne Gretzky.
00:17:20That's the suite you want to be in tonight.
00:17:26Here is a handoff to Kyron Williams.
00:17:30And a gain of five.
00:17:36You look at the Rams drives tonight.
00:17:41It started with a punt and back-to-back touchdowns.
00:17:44Then the interception by Holland.
00:17:45The fumble forced and recovered by Holland.
00:17:48The missed field goal before the half.
00:17:50And then a punt.
00:17:50Last time they had it.
00:17:52Here is a back shoulder throw.
00:17:54And it was perfection.
00:17:55To Devontae Adams.
00:17:57And a big pick up over the left side as he gets 16.
00:18:00Yeah I'll say that's perfection.
00:18:03Greg Newsome out there in coverage.
00:18:05And I don't know.
00:18:06He's sitting there thinking what more can I do.
00:18:08He's playing on top.
00:18:10He's doing a great job.
00:18:11And Matthew Stafford just puts that in a perfect spot.
00:18:15Even with Newsome grabbing the jersey.
00:18:18Adams able to come back and make a play on the ball.
00:18:24Talk to Stafford about Adams.
00:18:27A year older.
00:18:28He said he still looks great.
00:18:29Stafford is brought to the ground.
00:18:31And finally.
00:18:32Abdul Carter gets there.
00:18:34And gets his first of the year.
00:18:36And a big play is made by this Giants defense.
00:18:40And a loss of nine.
00:18:41Boy I'll say that's a great job by Abdul Carter.
00:18:44We haven't talked about him at all.
00:18:45He splits a double team.
00:18:47Over here on this left side.
00:18:49Just plays right through it.
00:18:52And then makes the play on Stafford.
00:18:54That's a great job.
00:18:55He's an impressive young man.
00:18:56He really came on last year.
00:18:58And the way in which he plays.
00:19:00He's got a motor that just doesn't stop.
00:19:02He's one of the really bright young pieces that they've got.
00:19:06Third overall pick last year at four sacks.
00:19:08But 56 pressures.
00:19:10Fourth most in the league.
00:19:11And here's a big chunk of that back.
00:19:13Plus Ferguson.
00:19:15With a catch and run.
00:19:17And the young tight end gets 21.
00:19:25Kind of been working that Tyler Newbin area at safety.
00:19:29It is.
00:19:29As he comes across.
00:19:31Newbin just made.
00:19:32He makes a poor angle coming down on it.
00:19:35It was going to be a completion.
00:19:37But got a lot more out of it than he should have.
00:19:38Here's Adams.
00:19:39What a night.
00:19:40Did he get him down?
00:19:41He did.
00:19:43What a catch by Devontae Adams who adds to his big night.
00:19:49Well they played two deep shell.
00:19:52The Giants.
00:19:53And Stafford knew before the ball was snapped.
00:19:56Exactly where he was going with the football.
00:19:58Against that zone look.
00:19:59And that's a great job by Devontae Adams.
00:20:02Tapping and getting his foot down.
00:20:04But you see Stafford.
00:20:05All he's doing at that point is just trying to keep the safety from coming over the top too soon.
00:20:12A lot of discussion about Stafford's performance last week.
00:20:16And he has found his rhythm here tonight.
00:20:19How about 184 receiving yards for Devontae Adams.
00:20:22With no Pukenikua.
00:20:23Nice bounce by Williams.
00:20:26And Kyron Williams is out of bounds near the 11.
00:20:33And this Rams offense can gobble up yards in bunches.
00:20:38Well Colby Parkinson he kind of secures the edge against Thibodeau.
00:20:42And then Newsome he's coming really on a run blitz.
00:20:46And he just isn't able to make a play.
00:20:49He's the unblocked guy.
00:20:50And Kyron Williams is able to make him miss and get on the edge.
00:20:53That is the third straight play of 20 plus yards for this Rams offense.
00:20:59And that's got the MVP nodding after that run by Williams.
00:21:08Just get it away.
00:21:10Adams.
00:21:12He's got it.
00:21:13Touchdown Rams.
00:21:27I don't know how you stop that.
00:21:28Well you don't.
00:21:29It was good action in the backfield by Stafford.
00:21:32But I talked about it earlier.
00:21:33Devontae Adams how he can create separation in such a short space.
00:21:38Watch him come off the ball.
00:21:40Boom.
00:21:40I mean he's beat.
00:21:41Now that's a young rookie in Colton Hood.
00:21:44And Colton a lot more experienced corner wouldn't have had any more success against that route.
00:21:52Now it's really a great job by him and that's why he's been such a red zone threat throughout his
00:21:59career.
00:21:59Third of the night for Matthew Stafford.
00:22:01He is now number six all time with 426 career touchdown passes.
00:22:07And oh by the way Devontae Adams now with 119 in his career.
00:22:13Perfect throw great catch for a man who knows how to find the end zone Devontae have it a night
00:22:19Rams up 18.
00:22:28Devontae Adams is the most prolific red zone target for catches and touchdowns in the league since he entered 13
00:22:36years ago.
00:22:37Then with the Packers and now Sean McVay is thrilled.
00:22:42The number 17 is a Ram and as the Rams play tonight without Pukenikua they give him rest and they're
00:22:49putting up now 21 points.
00:22:52And Devontae Adams is 11 yards shy of his career high in a game.
00:22:58And you see where Matthew Stafford is.
00:23:00He is now number six all time passing Phillip Rivers tonight with his three touchdown passes.
00:23:07Brady Breeze Manning Rodgers Favre Stafford now one spot in front of Phillip Rivers.
00:23:13You kind of ask yourself just how long will he play.
00:23:15I mentioned it early in this game last year coming into the season he had missed time in camp.
00:23:20He was dealing with a back injury.
00:23:21He's had elbow issues.
00:23:22He's as tough as they come.
00:23:24And he's played through a lot more than what we know about.
00:23:27It's good to see Jackson Dart on the sidelines.
00:23:29But Matthew in talking with him this week he was saying that he actually feels really good.
00:23:36That he doesn't.
00:23:37Unnecessary roughness.
00:23:38Kicking team number 34.
00:23:4015 yard penalty.
00:23:41It's first down New York.
00:23:44But he was saying that he really hasn't had to manage much at all.
00:23:48His body feels really good as we take a look at that late hit that created the penalty.
00:23:55They called him for use of the helmet which gives the Giants who now trail by 18 the ball up
00:24:02at their own 49.
00:24:04And any hope in this game with this kind of field position they've got to get it in the end
00:24:08zone.
00:24:09Well there's no doubt.
00:24:10And even if even if not for this game then they need to start building for something that they can
00:24:17hang their hat on
00:24:18for next week when they host Tennessee.
00:24:24Scadaboo.
00:24:26Gets two.
00:24:31Scadaboo had his fun last week on Sunday night against the Cowboys.
00:24:35A little bit different story here tonight.
00:24:3810 carries 26 yards.
00:24:4122 of those yards after contact.
00:24:43Let's go.
00:24:49Passes low and behind likely.
00:24:54Trent McDuffie out there defending but.
00:24:57Being able just to step into throws for Jameis Williams or Winston rather has been.
00:25:03An issue.
00:25:04Yeah it's.
00:25:05You know I've never been in that situation.
00:25:08I've talked to enough quarterbacks who have had to come off the bench and play.
00:25:11It's not easy to do.
00:25:12Now as we mentioned when he entered the game he's in his 12th year.
00:25:15He's played a lot of football.
00:25:17It's still early in the season.
00:25:19So it's not like he hasn't really been practicing that much with the number ones or getting reps.
00:25:25And all that kind of stuff.
00:25:26But.
00:25:27He's just had a hard time.
00:25:28Now this defense has a lot to do with it as well.
00:25:31Winston.
00:25:31There's a good throw.
00:25:32And the pass is complete to Mooney.
00:25:36One of the better throws of the night for Jameis.
00:25:38Winston stepped into it.
00:25:39Got a 15 yard completion.
00:25:40And the Giants have a first down inside the Ram 35.
00:25:44Yeah they're going to go no huddle.
00:25:45They know that they're up against the clock as well with five minutes left in the third.
00:25:49But a great job up front with that offensive line picking up a stunt and giving him time to throw.
00:26:14And he's able to step into the throw and deliver a strike.
00:26:21And Darnell Mooney he's gotten his opportunity of course.
00:26:24Nagy.
00:26:26Matt Nagy was with him.
00:26:28Was in Chicago as the head coach when they drafted him.
00:26:31That is best year.
00:26:33For the Bears.
00:26:35Under Nagy.
00:26:36Here's Scadaboo on second and ten.
00:26:38Third down coming up.
00:26:39Jameis Winston.
00:26:42Mentioned earlier the number one overall pick in 2015.
00:26:46It's his fourth team in 11 years.
00:26:48The Bucs.
00:26:48The Saints.
00:26:49The Browns.
00:26:50Now the Giants.
00:26:51Went 0-2 last year in the two starts he made when Jackson Dart was out with a concussion.
00:26:59And it's good to see as Troy said Jackson on the sideline listening in.
00:27:03It's third down and eight.
00:27:14Winston steps through but caught from behind and brought down to bring up fourth down.
00:27:21And that's Byron Young who has been all over Winston since Jameis got into the ball game
00:27:27and a loss of one of the field goal unit comes on.
00:27:30Well and here he is and you're going to see as he runs past Scadaboo and or excuse me Illuminor
00:27:36and he's faster than most running backs.
00:27:40So you know when he's able to run guys down in Jameis Winston you're just not going to outrun him.
00:27:46I mean he's an outstanding player and he shows off his speed being able to get on Jameis Winston.
00:27:53Winston had a little room out in front of him had he been able to get away.
00:27:56Here's Zavada from 52.
00:27:58The rookie kicker from Michigan is able to knock it through.
00:28:03John Harbaugh at halftime said field goals are not going to win this game but they have to settle for
00:28:09one here.
00:28:10Frustration on that sideline.
00:28:1221-6 Rams on top.
00:28:17Time now for Designing Success.
00:28:19It's brought to you by Chad GPT.
00:28:21Yeah pretty good look here.
00:28:22They start out with three tight ends.
00:28:24The play action game and what impact that has on the defense.
00:28:27And Devontae Adams getting in behind it all the room that he had to work.
00:28:30And here's a change of protection with Kyron Williams.
00:28:33And really the little nod and go on the outside to Devontae Adams for the big 60-yard completion that
00:28:41set up one of their touchdowns.
00:28:42Here's Xavier Smith on the return.
00:28:44And he survives the big hit.
00:28:47Hangs on to the ball.
00:28:48Elijah Campbell made that stop.
00:28:50And here comes Matthew Stafford.
00:28:52He and his top target, Devontae Adams, have combined for eight for 195 and two touchdowns.
00:29:01Adams is 11 yards shy of his career high.
00:29:05Well this is a good feeling if you're Devontae Adams but especially if you're Matthew Stafford because it really hasn't
00:29:11much mattered.
00:29:12What Sean McVay has called, it's pretty much worked because they're running the ball effectively.
00:29:17And they really like their matchups on the outside with a banged up corner group of the New York Giants.
00:29:23So they kind of have whatever it is they want.
00:29:27Here's a handoff to Corham and he gets popped.
00:29:30Good play by this Giants defense and big DJ Reader.
00:29:34Free agent added as the Giants have had to fill in for the outstanding Dexter Lawrence who was traded to
00:29:41Cincinnati for the number 10 overall pick.
00:29:43If they used on CC Maui Noah, their young stud guard on their offensive line.
00:29:51Yeah, and what a good player he's going to be.
00:29:53And, you know, a lot of money was spent on this Giants defense to shore things up.
00:29:58They lose a good player but they brought in some guys kind of doing it more by committee.
00:30:02Along that defensive front without big Dexter Lawrence playing.
00:30:08Spinning catch.
00:30:10That is Kanate Mumfield and a strong run after the catch as he covers up.
00:30:15And Kanate gets a first down for the Rams with a gain of 12.
00:30:21That's a good job by him.
00:30:23He's been limited in some of his opportunities.
00:30:26Didn't catch a lot of balls last year and, you know, he's been used a little bit more when he
00:30:32has been on the field as a blocker.
00:30:34As we take a look at Puka Nakua.
00:30:38Jordan Whittington is out as well.
00:30:40So two guys on the outside not available so far so good.
00:30:45So far so great for Devontae Adams.
00:30:48Yeah, you imagine how much troubles the Giants would have if Puka Nakua could play tonight.
00:30:54The late handoff Cora has some room and brought down by Brian Burns.
00:30:59That's the first time we've said Burns' name tonight.
00:31:02One of the best players in the league and a three-time Pro Bowler had 16 and a half sacks
00:31:07last year.
00:31:08But so far not much of a dent in this game.
00:31:11Well, obviously a lot of what this season is going to look like for the Giants is when we find
00:31:17out exactly what the availability is of Jackson Dart.
00:31:20But there are pieces on both sides of the ball that, you know, you can get excited about.
00:31:26And Brian Burns, of course, he's not a young player, but he's productive.
00:31:30But some of these others, like Abdel Carter, Arbel Reese, I like those two.
00:31:38Second down and four, Corham left side, picks his way with good blocking, and Nubin can't bring him down until
00:31:45Corham gets 14.
00:31:49Alaric Jackson with a good block out there on the edge.
00:31:52Don't miss MLB doubleheader action on ESPN as the playoff race heats up.
00:31:56On Wednesday, it's the Guardians and Red Sox.
00:31:58They battled at 7 Eastern, and the Astros face the Mariners at 10.
00:32:02Red Sox clinched a playoff spot last night.
00:32:06Guardians with a one-game lead over the White Sox in the AL Central.
00:32:10And the Astros just a game back of the Rangers to sit on top in the West.
00:32:19From the 40 play action, Stafford chased by Burns and pushed out of bounds, and a dangerous collision with that
00:32:30equipment case on the sideline.
00:32:32A little dangerous, and when you get up there in age like Matthew Stafford is, and you get the push
00:32:37as you're going out of bounds,
00:32:39you know, a lot of times that's when you'll see, like, a hamstring injury or something like that.
00:32:42But, you know, there's the bench, and you got the equipment trunk right there as well.
00:32:48They're trying to make a big play.
00:32:50But looking at this, here's the push by Burns just at the end.
00:32:53Sometimes you're not quite prepared for that.
00:32:55You're not expecting it.
00:32:56You can get overextended and pull something pretty easily.
00:33:04Second and eight.
00:33:09And McVeigh calls a timeout on the sideline.
00:33:13First timeout, Los Angeles, their first, will be 32nd.
00:33:20Well, what you said earlier about the Giants is what's hanging in the balance right now,
00:33:24and that is how injured is Jackson Dart.
00:33:27Hopefully it's week to week like the situation is with Caleb Williams as far as we're told here on this
00:33:33Monday.
00:33:33On the other side, the Rams look like the Rams after a rough start in Melbourne.
00:33:39Yeah, this was kind of a get-right game for the Rams, there's no doubt, that they wanted to put
00:33:45Australia behind them.
00:33:46They've been talking about it way too long.
00:33:49And Sean McVeigh, I think, would have done things a little bit differently with the travel schedule.
00:33:53But to come home against a team coming off such a big win last Sunday night and to play the
00:33:58way they have is exactly the formula that they were hoping for.
00:34:02And it's been impressive, especially considering the fact that they don't have Puka Nakua on the field tonight.
00:34:09Ferguson can't make the catch.
00:34:12Third down and eight, and Ferguson may have been galloping to the end zone if he held that in.
00:34:17I think he might have run all the way in on this one.
00:34:21It would have been another touchdown pass for Matthew Stafford.
00:34:25There wasn't a lot there.
00:34:26There's a middle safety, and depending on his angle, take a look as he comes across right here.
00:34:32Here, this ball actually hits the helmet of Tremaine Edmonds and actually shot it a little bit higher, which is
00:34:38the reason why Terrence Ferguson didn't make the catch.
00:34:50Third down and eight, backpedaling as he throws, and incomplete.
00:34:56Ferguson again.
00:34:59Tyler Newbin was in coverage and now fourth down.
00:35:04The offense is staying out there.
00:35:06They've kind of attacked Tyler Newbin, but the job that Stafford does here, he's got pressure, and he lays it
00:35:12out there perfectly.
00:35:13When he turns it loose, he just, you know, the one thing, Stafford is not going to take sacks.
00:35:18He gets the ball out, perfectly thrown ball, well placed, just not able to secure it.
00:35:23You can see Stafford, because that was, that was really good on his part, anticipating the pressure and getting it
00:35:29out.
00:35:30Rams pass on a 56-yard field goal try.
00:35:42And it's a delay game on your penalty, fourth down.
00:35:47There used to be a time when, you know, these guys are trained so well in camp about not flinching
00:35:53with voice inflection and watching the ball.
00:35:55Oh, it's rare that you see these quarterbacks be able to pull guys offside.
00:36:02Worth a try.
00:36:04Yeah, absolutely.
00:36:07And now the punt team out there for the Rams, and that means that Ethan Evans
00:36:14will try to pin the Giants deep with Braxton Berrios, who, by the way, is the emergency third quarterback tonight
00:36:19for the Giants.
00:36:20He's played quarterback in high school, and now returns kicks in the NFL.
00:36:28The ball is marked down at the five.
00:36:32And this game's going to the fourth quarter.
00:36:34I know that when Phil sings, take me home.
00:36:38That's quarter in a 15-point game.
00:36:41I don't remember.
00:36:42I don't remember.
00:36:49Tonight's aerial coverage is brought to you by Goodyear.
00:36:52Tonight has fallen on Los Angeles, SoFi Stadium.
00:36:56This beautiful facility will be home to Super Bowl 61 on Valentine's Day, 2027.
00:37:08Still a two-possession game, and this is incomplete for likely.
00:37:13Let's get this out there.
00:37:15That ESPN Giants reporter Jordan Renan reports that Dart, Jackson Dart, tried to get back into the game in the
00:37:24first half,
00:37:25but the Giants would not let him.
00:37:28So we do not have any definitive word as to how serious the injury is to the leg of Jackson
00:37:35Dart,
00:37:35but maybe that sheds a little light on it, too.
00:37:38Well, it does, and I will say this.
00:37:40It's a real positive that he's down on the sidelines, and he's walking around, and he's not laid up somewhere
00:37:46with ice on it.
00:37:48Winston barely gets it away as Braden Fisk was right in his gut, and narrowly avoiding a safety.
00:37:57Winston threw it in the direction of likely third down.
00:38:02Yeah, CeCe Malinoa, the rookie last week, did not give up a pressure.
00:38:07He gets beat this time, and Braden Fisk is able to just win inside direct line at Jameis Winston.
00:38:15He just has to get the ball out of his hands.
00:38:17He was in the pocket, but there was a receiver, Isaiah, likely in the neighborhood.
00:38:22No flag for grounding, which would have been a safety, and now it's third and ten.
00:38:29Here they come, and Winston is just going to heave it incomplete.
00:38:36And that was just to avoid two points going on the scoreboard.
00:38:39Yeah, and I mentioned it a little bit ago, Joe, but Chris Shula, he really deserves a lot of credit
00:38:45for this game tonight.
00:38:47We've talked about what they've done offensively, defensively.
00:38:50He changed things up.
00:38:52Last week against San Francisco, he thought he could play the run with five and six defensive backs.
00:38:57Tonight, in the early going, he matched up personnel.
00:39:00He played more base with four defensive backs, and he has been able to shut down this running game.
00:39:06Of course, losing the quarterback doesn't help, but I thought the Giants would have a little more success running the
00:39:12football.
00:39:12It's been a great defensive effort.
00:39:14What a punt by Jordan Stout.
00:39:17Xavier Smith had to catch it over his shoulder.
00:39:21That was a 78-yard punt.
00:39:24And a decent return, and here's that last third down pressure.
00:39:31That's the second down play, and then following it, Winston just had to heave it.
00:39:36Jackson Dart watching with the rest of it.
00:39:38The rest of us, Rams ball, up 15.
00:39:45The Giants organization announced yesterday with heavy hearts that Ernie Corsi, their longtime general manager, passed away on Saturday at
00:39:52the age of 84.
00:39:53He spent parts of four decades in top front office roles around the NFL, served as general manager for three
00:40:00teams, most recently the Giants from 1998 to 2006.
00:40:05Here is a big hit and a good catch as Ferguson makes the grab this time.
00:40:11Got the hit from Nubin, but held on.
00:40:14And you can trace the success in the two Super Bowl wins and the Lombardi trophies to the groundwork he
00:40:20laid, of course, by bringing in both Tom Coughlin and then making that draft day deal to bring in Eli
00:40:27Manning.
00:40:27Yeah, that's right.
00:40:28I mean, what a great executive he was, and more importantly, what just a great human being he was.
00:40:33I got a chance to get to know Ernie while he was the GM for the Giants, and just a
00:40:39real joy to be around.
00:40:40But also remember back in 1983, he was with the Colts when they traded John Elway to Denver, and that's
00:40:47really the reason why he left the Colts.
00:40:49He knew what kind of prospect Elway was going to be.
00:40:52It was Karen Williams who was able to take it down inside the 40.
00:40:56Ernie, of course, he was so respected around the National Football League that he tried to retire 20 years ago,
00:41:03but the NFL just wouldn't let him.
00:41:05His stature was such the teams just kept demanding his input on seemingly every general manager hire across the league.
00:41:13Just well-respected.
00:41:13Huge Johnny Unitas fan.
00:41:15Big Orioles fan.
00:41:16And a guy who did not like to get baseball trivia questions wrong.
00:41:21That's right, yeah.
00:41:22And you're definitely right, Joe.
00:41:25There wasn't a GM hired once he got out of being the general manager himself.
00:41:31There wasn't a hire in this league, I don't think, where he wasn't consulted because he was so highly regarded.
00:41:37Tom Coughlin said that that Eli Manning trade was all him.
00:41:40He went into a room, he got it done, and just further solidifying what the Giants thought of the job
00:41:48he did.
00:41:49He left in 06, but they gave him the Super Bowl ring for what they accomplished in 07.
00:41:53Well, he always had great respect for the franchise quarterback, and he had a good eye for him.
00:41:59And that's why he was so upset when the Colts traded John Elway.
00:42:04And he just couldn't live with that.
00:42:06And he said, adios.
00:42:09Kyron Williams picks up three.
00:42:14D.J. Reader in on the stop to bring up third down and one for Sean McVay,
00:42:19who will be a little happier and have a much shorter commute home than he did after their loss against
00:42:27the 49ers in Melbourne.
00:42:29Yeah, he'll be much happier.
00:42:31He wasn't in too good of a mood even many days later when we talked to him a few days
00:42:35ago.
00:42:35You know, they're averaging nine yards of play.
00:42:38They've got over 400 yards of offense on less than 50 offensive snaps.
00:42:43I mean, that's a pretty good day at the office.
00:42:46Stafford wide open is the tight end Parkinson.
00:42:49And the chains keep moving.
00:42:53Seahawks and 49ers are combined 4-0.
00:42:55No, this NFC West is going to be a dogfight with the top three teams all year.
00:43:01Oh, no doubt.
00:43:02And that's why this schedule is so tough for them when you consider just within their own division
00:43:07what they're battling with defending champs Seattle and then, of course, the 49ers.
00:43:12But, man, they've just got these other games against the Broncos, Eagles, Bills.
00:43:18And, I mean, it's one of the tougher schedules in the NFL.
00:43:22But, man, it's one first down.
00:43:26Nice run by Coran.
00:43:28But he lost it.
00:43:29Able to get it back somehow.
00:43:31Javon Holland was out there trying to force another turnover.
00:43:36It's a gain of one.
00:43:37And, like Coran was playing basketball or football.
00:43:41Well, Javon Holland, I mean, we've seen it.
00:43:44He's got the peanut punch, I guess, is what they call it, from peanut Tillman.
00:43:51You know, he was so good at it.
00:43:53And Javon Holland, I mean, he's just been a takeaway machine here through two games.
00:43:58Unbelievable.
00:43:59He's got two forced fumbles tonight, a fumble recovery and an interception.
00:44:02Yeah.
00:44:03And then he had the big interception week one.
00:44:09Second and nine.
00:44:11Stafford looked right, throws left, Coran, able to outrun the defender.
00:44:17And get a first down.
00:44:20Got a good block from Avila.
00:44:23And the tackle not able to be made.
00:44:27It's a gain of 13.
00:44:31Just get the ball out.
00:44:33Get some blockers out in front.
00:44:36And let him do his thing and run.
00:44:42I do think you follow Sean McVay and what he did when he came to Los Angeles and all of
00:44:49the three wide receiver sets that became so prolific around the league.
00:44:54And now we've seen that same influence with all of the three tight ends that he's used.
00:44:58First and goal, Williams right side.
00:45:01Nice tackle by Colton Hood.
00:45:03The second round pick from Tennessee, a gain of two.
00:45:09Ram stars tonight.
00:45:14Matthew Stafford.
00:45:18It's his 69th career, 300-yard passing game.
00:45:22Kyron Williams with a touchdown.
00:45:2512 touches.
00:45:27Almost 90 yards.
00:45:28And Devontae Adams, eight catches, two of them touchdowns, and just under 200 yards.
00:45:35Second and goal.
00:45:38Adams is out there looking for the hat trick.
00:45:44Stafford finds his man.
00:45:46Touchdown, Ferguson.
00:45:54Come on, baby.
00:45:56Come on, get in.
00:45:57Come on.
00:46:03See, Sean McVay's a great progression.
00:46:06Yeah.
00:46:06He was pointing to Matthew Stafford.
00:46:08He found his guy wide open.
00:46:09Yeah, he's so smart that he's got the safety here on Devontae Adams.
00:46:13So he knows Adams taken out of the picture.
00:46:15He's working the front side.
00:46:16He's going to get it to Kyron Williams.
00:46:18But he knows he's got split safeties as well.
00:46:21And Tremaine Edmonds is the only guy who can take that away.
00:46:23And, you know, when you've been in the league as long as what Stafford has,
00:46:27and you just can't do much, that he's not going to be able to dissect.
00:46:31Here it is.
00:46:35Stafford able to dissect.
00:46:36Looking, looking, looking.
00:46:38Ferguson.
00:46:40Touchdown.
00:46:41Rams with the Rams again.
00:46:45McVay.
00:46:46Happy about it.
00:46:54There is Myles Garrett, who is giving a hug to Eric O'Donnell.
00:47:00Myles Garrett, we'll talk about him during this segment.
00:47:03That's the great Mookie Betts in the foreground.
00:47:07Stars are out tonight here at the home of the Rams.
00:47:10SoFi Stadium.
00:47:11And this drive will start at the 35.
00:47:16We'll send it down to Lisa.
00:47:17Yeah, Joe, well, the Rams having the success with two big pieces out tonight.
00:47:21First, you mentioned Puka Nakua out with a hip injury.
00:47:24The Rams don't think it's too serious,
00:47:26with Sean McVay saying he expects to get Puka back sooner rather than later.
00:47:30And then there is Myles Garrett, who had arthroscopic knee surgery last Monday.
00:47:34And Sean McVay telling us that Garrett could be out anywhere from four to eight weeks.
00:47:38He said Myles was in the building this week.
00:47:40As you can see, he's walking on his own without crutches.
00:47:43So, according to the Rams, Garrett is recovering well, but they are not going to rush him back.
00:47:47So, there really is no timetable yet for his return, Joe.
00:47:52Yeah, it's a minimum of four games.
00:47:55Who knows how many in the end?
00:47:58Six, eight, maybe four.
00:48:01But when we talk to both head coach Sean McVay and to Aaron Donald,
00:48:07as you look at the quarterback situation for the Giants tonight,
00:48:10Jackson Dart going out early with a leg injury,
00:48:13Jameis Winston took over after that first possession.
00:48:17They've not been able to do much, just two field goals.
00:48:21McVay said that he called Myles Garrett before the trade.
00:48:26They got that worked out, and then it was time to call Aaron Donald.
00:48:30And Aaron Donald, who already loved the team, stayed in shape.
00:48:35The conversation began, and McVay said,
00:48:41what do you think about the Myles thing?
00:48:42And Aaron said, I'm thinking about getting my cleats out of the closet.
00:48:45And I would imagine a little tear fell out of the eye of Sean McVay.
00:48:52Winston, good throw, and Malachi Fields has got a Giants first down.
00:48:56Yeah, Joe, there's a lot of guys who could be out of football for two years,
00:48:59and you're not sure what kind of shape they're going to come back in.
00:49:03Aaron Donald is not one of those guys.
00:49:05Anyone on social media that has seen a workout or a post of any kind
00:49:12involving Aaron Donald working out, I mean, it's unlike what you've ever seen before.
00:49:20Here's Lankley.
00:49:22Stops.
00:49:23McDuffie brings him down.
00:49:25And again, a five.
00:49:26I did think in talking with him that, you know, he was,
00:49:31he's always been just a really enjoyable guy to visit with,
00:49:35but he just seems so relaxed and at peace with his decision
00:49:38and excited to be in the locker room with his teammates and enthusiasm,
00:49:42all those things.
00:49:43I mean, he just felt like, wow, he's bringing some really great energy
00:49:47to this entire organization, and he's so well-regarded and respected.
00:49:51I know they opened him or welcomed him with open arms.
00:49:55On second down, Scadaboo is met immediately by Lake.
00:50:00And Quinton Lake, who didn't have his best game last week,
00:50:05but is a tremendous young safety and slot player in this league,
00:50:09makes a strong tackle, no gain.
00:50:11And Donald back out there off the sideline as they knock the rust off,
00:50:15if there ever was any.
00:50:16He wants his youngest child to see him play and remember it.
00:50:21And he said, when I'm in, I'm in.
00:50:23Meaning when Miles Garrett went down, he wasn't thinking anything like,
00:50:27well, that's not what I thought was going to happen.
00:50:29It was time to go to work.
00:50:30And they had targeted him for 30 to 40 snaps,
00:50:33and he's hit the 30 mark, and he's still out there on the field.
00:50:36So, you know, he's been playing about what they had thought he might.
00:50:41Full start against the Giants.
00:50:43Part of the snap, full start.
00:50:45Offense, number 65.
00:50:47Five-yard penalty.
00:50:49Remains third down.
00:50:53Talk about family.
00:50:54Aaron Donald, who celebrated on this field with his family
00:50:58after the Rams won Super Bowl 56 in February of 2022.
00:51:08Everybody taking it all in.
00:51:10He played a couple more years after that.
00:51:12His last year prior to tonight was 2023.
00:51:16And his last game prior to tonight was 981 days ago.
00:51:20A wild-card loss at Detroit.
00:51:25Here's a pass behind fields and not able to adjust and make the grab.
00:51:30It's fourth down.
00:51:31Well, those kids of his, they are now a few years older,
00:51:34and these are memories like tonight that they're going to take with them
00:51:39and being able to.
00:51:40There they are.
00:51:43And they're blowing kisses to Big Aaron.
00:51:47Big Aaron, 6'1, 280 when he took the field tonight.
00:51:51Yeah, it's pretty awesome.
00:51:54He's as decorated as they come.
00:52:03Four down and 10.
00:52:05Winston floats it.
00:52:06Fields incomplete.
00:52:07But a flag.
00:52:10As Forbes and Fields were going at it,
00:52:15and they're going to call it, I believe, on Malachi Fields.
00:52:19Offensive pass interference.
00:52:20Yeah, they sure are.
00:52:23Pass interference.
00:52:25Offense, number 88.
00:52:27The front is to Kahn.
00:52:28It's first down, Los Angeles.
00:52:33That's a good call.
00:52:34A real good call.
00:52:35A real good call.
00:52:39He's back.
00:52:40Big number 99.
00:52:41When will he have his new run inmate?
00:52:45Miles Garrett added to the fold.
00:52:47Rams ball.
00:52:51There is a TV term called emptying the bucket.
00:52:54And that's what we're doing on the future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald,
00:52:58who is back after his two-year retirement.
00:53:00Eight time.
00:53:01First team All-Pro.
00:53:03Died for the most of any defensive player in NFL history.
00:53:06And he's lifted three defensive player of the year trophies.
00:53:10Third player all-time with three-plus joining Lawrence Taylor and J.J. Watt.
00:53:18He takes a seat.
00:53:20Watches Blake Horan go over the right side.
00:53:23And there's no containment.
00:53:25Corham with a big run.
00:53:26They have a pretty good combination here at back.
00:53:29With the Rams, with Kyron Williams, who's put together three tremendous years.
00:53:34And now Blake Corham is working into the mix more and more and more.
00:53:38Yeah, I like both those guys.
00:53:40And we've got a Giants player.
00:53:41Yeah, we do.
00:53:42Oh, man.
00:53:43Brian Burns is down way back behind the play.
00:53:46And they check him.
00:53:51Boy.
00:54:05They're medical personnel checking the leg of Brian Burns.
00:54:17We'll take a break, come back, and update you.
00:54:25The terrific player, Brian Burns, traded from Carolina to the Giants in 2024,
00:54:31got his left ankle rolled up on and kind of pinned.
00:54:38And so he needs assistance getting off the field.
00:54:41They lost Jackson Dart early for a moment.
00:54:44It looked like Malik Neighbors was going to join him out of this game.
00:54:48But he fought through a shoulder issue in a 22-point game.
00:54:54And the Rams just going to try and run the ball and work on the clock
00:54:59as Corham over the left side gets eight.
00:55:01And for more on Jackson Dart, let's go to Laura.
00:55:04Well, Joe, we're still waiting on final word of exactly the nature of Jackson Dart's knee injury.
00:55:08But you mentioned a report from our Giants reporter Jordan Renan about Dart campaigning to get back in this game.
00:55:14A little more context on that.
00:55:16As we told you, it wasn't until the end of halftime, right before the beginning of the third quarter,
00:55:21as you see the injury once again for Dart, that they took his uniform.
00:55:25He still had his uniform on.
00:55:26And even after going through the x-way process and everything, he was trying to get back in this game.
00:55:32Also, watching him on the sideline, he has rarely sat down.
00:55:35And the length is very minor.
00:55:38You only notice that it's no that he has had injury.
00:55:42Well, thanks.
00:55:43Here's Corham, who is able to get the first down.
00:55:46And the clock continues to run.
00:55:49So Caleb Williams was hurt in the fourth quarter in the Bears' home loss on a rainy day in Chicago.
00:55:55He hurt his hamstring.
00:55:57The word is today, week to week, Jaden Daniels again dislocating his left elbow, as he did last year.
00:56:02In the commander's loss in Dallas, and then this Jackson Dart injury, three young stars at the quarterback position, injured
00:56:14in week two.
00:56:24Back to Kyron Williams.
00:56:27They've had Corham, and now Kyron Williams over the right side is able to get six.
00:56:33Well, they're going to continue to just run the football and run this clock down.
00:56:38I'm not so sure we'll see another pass from Matthew Stafford, but they're getting some big chunks.
00:56:45There's the moon.
00:56:52I'm told waxing gibbous.
00:56:56Waning, waxing, tomato, tomato.
00:56:58So, go back to what I've said before, I dropped my astronomy class at IU back in the day.
00:57:10Corham and Williams with a combined 163 rush yards, and this is Kyron Williams trying to add to that.
00:57:18He does, he adds one, up to 164.
00:57:21But you did mention it, Joe.
00:57:22These two backs that they have, there's a lot of good pieces on this team for the L.A. Rams,
00:57:29and that's why so many are picking them so high to finish up this year.
00:57:33But with Kyron Williams and Blake Corham, you know, they're similar in stature as far as size.
00:57:39But, you know, Kyron Williams does a little bit more within the passing game.
00:57:43But, boy, they're both fun to watch.
00:57:45And to be able to rely on those two guys to kind of carry the load and do some of
00:57:50the things that's expected of them in the run game has been good.
00:57:54It's been a nice one-two punch that Sean McVay's been able to enjoy.
00:57:58Two running backs have combined average 6.8 yards per rush.
00:58:03A safe throw when Davis Allen gets his second catch of the season.
00:58:10A gain of seven, and that should bring us to the two-minute warning as Matthew Stafford is all smiles
00:58:15with the way his offense has responded
00:58:19after that opening loss to the 49ers.
00:58:21Yeah, I'm not sure that you could have drawn it up any better.
00:58:25You know, as we've talked about the struggles that they had and what they wanted to accomplish coming into this
00:58:30game.
00:58:32They allow Puka Nakua to rest the injured hip.
00:58:37Defense has done its part.
00:58:39The offense has done its part.
00:58:41It's been a big night for the Rams here in Week 2, moving toward a record of 1-1.
00:58:52427 in his career.
00:58:57Nice night for the Donald family as well.
00:59:00His dad is back.
00:59:06And we'll send it down to Laura with Aaron Donald.
00:59:09Laura.
00:59:11Aaron, what did it feel like to be back out there tonight?
00:59:13I'm going to feel good.
00:59:14Felt good to be out there, get that first game under my belt after two years.
00:59:17So, feel good.
00:59:19We've got to win.
00:59:20That's what you said the goal was.
00:59:21Three tackles, one tackle for loss for you.
00:59:24When you made that first tackle, what went through your mind?
00:59:28Let's make another one, you know.
00:59:29So, just playing football.
00:59:31It feels good to just be out here on this field with the guys.
00:59:33Coming away with a big win at SoFi today.
00:59:36So, I'm excited.
00:59:37How does the body feel?
00:59:38A little sore right now.
00:59:40You know, a little sore.
00:59:41But, get my body back right for a short week and get back to work.
00:59:44We had an awesome shot of your kids blowing you kisses as you ran out of the tunnel.
00:59:48How much does it mean to you to be able to do this again for them to see?
00:59:52I mean, everything.
00:59:53They've been excited.
00:59:54They called me this morning at least 20 times saying,
00:59:56I'm ready to see Daddy play football.
00:59:57So, to see my family here, support me, excited about it, man.
01:00:01It makes it that much better.
01:00:03Congratulations.
01:00:04Go spend time with them.
01:00:05Thank you.
01:00:07Laura, thank you.
01:00:08And, thank you to Aaron Donald, congratulations to Big Number 99 on his return.
01:00:12When we asked him what being productive and what would be an effective return to the game,
01:00:17what that would look like, he said, I'm here for one thing and that's to win.
01:00:20And, that's exactly what the Rams did tonight.
01:00:23Both teams now 1-1.
01:00:25And, an impressive showing by the team from L.A.
01:00:28Next week will be in Chicago, Eagles and Bears.
01:00:30This has been a presentation of the NFL and ESPN and ABC, home of Super Bowl 61.
01:00:36Monday night postgame presented by Nationwide.
01:00:38Coming up next on ESPN.
01:00:39Time now to send it to SVP.
01:00:43Joe, thank you so much.
01:00:44Coming up on SportsCenter on ESPN, as I mentioned a moment ago,
01:00:48Devontae Adams is going to join us.
01:00:49He was probably a catch short of getting to 200 yards for the second time in his career.
01:00:54Any details that we have on Jackson Garth's injury, those will be coming to us,
01:00:57whether it's from the Giants locker room or Coach Harbaugh as well.
01:01:01The big man is here.
01:01:02We got bad beats.
01:01:03If you're watching on ABC or Late Local News, it's next.
01:01:06Find the remote if you want more postgame.
01:01:07We're over on ESPN in 90 seconds.
01:01:15ESPN, thanks you for watching this presentation of the National Football League.
