00:00The Negeri Sembilan Executive Council has unanimously decided to suspend Zafir Ibrahim and Muzalma Mustafa Kamal
00:08from their duties as State Secretary and State Legal Advisor, respectively, with immediate effect.
00:15Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim announced the suspensions after a special EXCO meeting today.
00:22However, the status of the state EXCO is in dispute following the revocation of its members' appointments
00:28by the Yang Dipetuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan on Sunday.
00:33Ismail said notice of State Secretary Zafir's suspension would be submitted to the Chief Secretary,
00:39to the government, and the Public Service Department.
00:43Likewise, notice of State Legal Advisor Muzalma's suspension would be submitted to the Attorney General's chambers.
00:51The suspensions come days after the state administration said it would not proceed with Ismail's request
00:58to gazette the proclamation on Tuanku Muhris, Tuanku Munawir's purported removal as Yang Dipetuan Besar.
01:05The State Secretary's Office said it declined to act on Ismail's request
01:10after accepting the AGC's view on the EXCO member's announcement concerning the April 19th proclamation.
01:18It also referred the matter to the State Legal Advisor to ensure that any action complied
01:23with Negeri Sembilan's constitution and laws.
01:27Ismail maintained that all EXCO members remained in office despite the revocations
01:33and that the state administration would continue operating as usual.
01:38The Istana said the appointments were revoked after the EXCO members were found to have violated
01:44their oath of office and pledge of allegiance taken on August 7th.
01:49Ismail disputed the ruler's decision, arguing that an EXCO member's tenure could not be terminated
01:56unless advised or requested by Demetri Besar.
