00:01The Court of Appeal will deliver its decision on Jan 7 on the Malaysian Bar's appeal seeking
00:07leave for a judicial review challenging the reduction of Datuk Seri Najib Razak's prison
00:13term and fine in the SRC International Sendirian Berhad case.
00:18A three-member bench heard the appeal on July 31 and reserved its decision.
00:23The Bar is challenging the High Court's November 2024 dismissal of its application which sought
00:30to have the Federal Territory's Pardons Board's January 29, 2024 decision reducing Najib's
00:3712-year sentence to six years.
00:39It also seeks to have the reduction of his RM210 million fine to RM50 million declared illegal,
00:48unconstitutional and void.
00:5073-year-old Najib filed the first petition for a royal pardon in 2022.
00:57After having his prison sentence halved, Najib filed a fresh petition in March this year
01:02and on September 18, he was granted a conditional pardon allowing him to serve the remainder
01:08of his sentence under house arrest, subject to paying the RM50 million fine.
