00:34350 the cent six is still down about 200 points at 74 700 id stocks extend the losses for the
00:41third
00:42straight session anoop bakji the icici group veteran and current md and ceo of icici prudential life has
00:52emerged as a key contender for htfc bank's top job reports are indicating that the rbi has also
00:58reportedly sought feedback on his candidature as the ceo succession process gathers space
01:07finance minister nirmala sitarawan makes general remarks on family businesses emphasizing on
01:13professionalism separation of ownership from management and also says disagreements need
01:18not turn into litigation aviation minister ram mohan naidu has said higher atf prices amid the west
01:29asia crisis are pushing up festive season airfares ministry is consulting the airlines and monitoring
01:35the fares on airline concentration he says india needs more competition with at least five airlines
01:41operating 100 aircraft each vp morgan ceo jamie diamond says inconsistent taxation and unevenly enforces
01:53the rules could deter investment in india diamond also says india must ensure fair treatment strengthen
02:00the governance and promote competition to attract global capital
02:11we'll straight away look at the big breaking news viewers this is with regard to the finance minister
02:15nirmala sitaraman making remarks on family business and management without naming the tata group she's
02:22stressed on professionalization and also on disagreements need not immediately turning into litigation let's listen in to what she had
02:31to say
02:34to start with the conduct and above all with trust trust between businesses cannot be demanded
02:42it has to be built through conduct on both sides businesses must engage constructively
02:49with government and regulators legal recourse will always remain available but every disagreement need not begin as a litigation
03:00there is considerable value in engaging early placing evidence on the table participating seriously in consultations
03:10and working towards solutions before differences become disputes equally businesses must provide predictability
03:19transparency transparency and a willingness to listen a mature economy should be capable of disagreement without immediately becoming
03:31adversarial the other thread is the standard we hold ourselves to
03:36quality which must become india's next national movement
03:43karish ma sudhani my colleague is now joining in with more details on the same karish ma
03:47clearly the finance minister is talking about how family businesses should definitely be looking at professional conduct
03:55look at governance and of course not every disagreement should turn into litigation
04:01in what context and what indications are do you think this statement of finance minister gives us
04:09um evidently finance minister is talking about the institutionalization challenge that exists and this is also because of how
04:17majority of indian businesses are family-owned large msmes that you look at or bigger than that
04:25she's not mentioned of tatas but as as as it is in the backdrop of what is happening it is
04:35and what i have been picking up from my
04:37sources in the government that uh government that uh government is uh watchful of the situation and like uh uh
04:45any other government they'd want that uh it's uh the conglomerate one of the biggest conglomerates in the country is
04:52having uh uh its peaceful exchange internally or even externally and uh uh sources have told us that uh the
05:01top uh uh officials in the government are known about what is happening and the way out only
05:07is that uh is that uh some kind of peace
05:12is in the working of how things are right karishma thanks a lot for getting us those details let me
05:19quickly go across to our guests now we have avinash kurakshakar the founder of avinash mentor research now joining in
05:25on the program as well um you know avinash we're talking about how the finance minister is really talking about
05:31family businesses in india
05:32we have seen many instances in the past when uh you know family run businesses any kind of disputes or
05:39disagreements uh entering into long litigation periods have not only impacted the business at large but a lot of shareholders
05:46investor sentiment and the markets at large as well how are you looking at these fresh statements at least coming
05:52at a time when there is a fresh uh you know update about uh you know what's happening at the
05:58tatar group of course there is no uh way that finance minister has indicated or talked about it
06:02about the tata group here but she's talked about how to strengthen the economy it is important that india inc
06:09running family businesses should be more vigilant about how professionally they are run
06:15yeah i think uh yeah i think uh yeah i think this is just a you know comment from the
06:19finance minister on family businesses but i think clearly you know i think uh the indication was clearly at the
06:25recent tata group uh kind of uh development i think clearly uh you know i think uh the markets would
06:32like to wait as to when the tata sons entity uh goes public but i think there has been some
06:37sort of tussle you know from the existing tata group uh tata trustee you know kind of people
06:42so i think we'll have to wait and watch but yes one thing is very clear that uh you know
06:46these kind of disputes are now becoming the normal you know kind of order of the day because clearly there
06:52have been some disagreements between some uh you know kind of you know promoter kind of groups and that i
06:58think is essentially the reason uh you know the matter is likely to go into litigation so i think whenever
07:04this happens it obviously has an impact on the group or maybe on the you know on the market sentiment
07:09as a whole uh for the time being you know i would not like to comment
07:12but i think if it goes into litigation definitely it's going to be a dampener for this group in the
07:17very near term right let's talk about the markets per se 23 355 we are on the expiry day about
07:2460 odd points lower in trade it's been of course a volatile uh run up uh you know but uh
07:30looking at what's happening uh as far as the global impact is concerned crude oil prices now ebbing slightly lower
07:37and now uh probably below that hundred dollars a barrel mark will that provide some
07:42some kind of uh balm or calm to the markets we've been looking at five to six straight weeks of
07:48losses on the street one of the key reasons has also been the external environment that continues to be topsy
07:54-turvy your suggestion on how would you look at the markets now
07:58no i think sakshi markets are going to remain in a very small range i think at least for the
08:04very near term 23 200 uh you know for the nifty is a very strong support
08:08and i don't think you're going to see any major panic sell-off because one good part is crude has
08:13corrected i think saudi arabia has already made it very clear
08:16that a lot of supply side issues could be resolved uh i think what is very important to note is
08:22that uh you
08:23know the geopolitical situation continues to remain very fluid there have been some reports that iran has
08:28suggested to u.s indirectly that they could open the hormones provided all their conditions are met but i think
08:34you know whether donald trump agrees to this whether any solution comes to this or not in the very near
08:40term is something which is a big question mark so we'll have to wait and watch but i think one
08:45factor
08:45which is you know obviously also putting pressure on the market is the primary market you know supply of
08:50fresh paper i think a lot of ipos have been lined up september is going to be a very heavy
08:55month almost 35
08:5638 000 crores is going to be raised so i think the broader market is going to remain in a
09:00very close range
09:01the upside seems to be you know capped and i think it's only going to be a stock picker's market
09:06so wherever there is a good growth story at the right valuation i think investors should take their
09:11call because i believe q2 is also going to be reasonably good and is unlikely to be so bad as
09:16what you know most market people are expecting okay yes you're right in this week alone we are going
09:23to be looking at 11 ipos that are opening up and altogether september has been you know filled with
09:29an ipo rush and seems to be that this is going to be the case for the rest of fy
09:3527 as well but
09:37let's quickly look at the aviation space at large airfares have actually seen a sharp uptick with the
09:43government now pointing to rising atf prices amid the ongoing west asia crisis aviation minister
09:48ramohan naidu has said atf accounts for about 40 percent of the airline operating costs meaning that
09:55even a small surge in fuel prices can impact the ticket fares meanwhile on the airline duopoly the
10:01government says it wants more players in the sector but no decision has been taken yet let's listen into
10:06what the aviation minister had to say i would also like to mention that because of the west asia
10:13crisis the atfs have taken a hit because of which the air prices have taken it this is not necessarily
10:19because of the festive season or anything but there is an ongoing crisis situation which has driven the
10:24atf prices forward even if you took a take the air fries pairs affairs the if you break it up
10:3140 to 43
10:33percent of this comes from atf only so you can see that how much a small increase in atf would
10:38impact
10:38the airfare prices one thing from the government is clear is that we need more airlines to come into
10:42the picture now airports and airlines together operating need some deliberation on that we are
10:48going to see the pros and the cons of it we need to give a balancing a sector see the
10:54first idea is to
10:55provide the passenger with more airlines as an option and if there is someone who is interested to do it
11:01then the government supports the idea but when the airline operator only has to do it then what are
11:07the cons also that might come up we need to create a system where the cons are also taken care
11:14of and
11:14the pros we very openly know that there are a lot of pros regarding this so we are under the
11:19deliberation
11:21all right avinashi you heard the minister talk about one of course the airfares and the surging
11:27fares right ahead of the festive season uh have a lot to do with what's happening in west asia and
11:33the surge in atf prices but aviation space as a whole does that attract your attention right ahead of
11:39the big festive demand that we are looking at um is this a space that investors should also look at
11:46yeah definitely sakshi i think you know within the aviation space i think you know players like indigo
11:51will continue to capitalize because uh clearly you know in terms of market share uh they are market
11:57leaders they control almost 50 percent uh you know market uh you know chair in the indian aviation market
12:03and i think you know despite the fact that uh you know many companies have shown interest of entering
12:09this segment it's not a very easy market a lot of investment a lot of pain has to be experienced
12:14by new
12:14players and i think new players like akasa or the other new players are yet to you know get the
12:19kind of
12:20scale which indigo enjoys so i think investors should definitely understand that this is going
12:24to be a supply driven market for at least the next couple of years before some meaningful competition
12:29comes in and i think uh rising av uh you know oil prices is going to obviously make fuel prices
12:35go up
12:35and that definitely will be passed on to customers typically i think you know these companies uh will
12:40definitely enjoy the benefits of this kind of policy monopoly and i think investors should realize that
12:45at least for the next couple of years there is going to be no meaningful competition
12:49for large players like indigo okay that's the aviation space for you viewers but shifting focus
12:55to the telecom space now there's another breaking news coming in for you uh the trai the telecom
13:01regulator has mandated separate voice and sms only vouchers separate vouchers from internet plans and
13:08mandatory plans uh for 30-day validity or less there are also monthly renewal options that will be
13:14provided now to the users which who can now renew the plans on the same date there is a benefit
13:21for
13:21customers that who don't use data that could actually be deciphered from this new mandate that the trai is
13:28talking about let me actually go across to uh my colleague ashwarya who's joining in with more details on the
13:34same ashwarya first up help our viewers understand what exactly is the trai talking about here apart from the data
13:42packages that we are used to of recharging your our phones with both prepaid and postpaid
13:48are they going to be separate voice only packages that will have to be mandatorily given by
13:55the air uh the telecom operators now
14:02could you unmute yourself i couldn't hear you yeah yeah go ahead
14:11still it is unmute i think ashwarya we couldn't hear you
14:16all right so uh we will try to get that line sorted i think with ashwarya right there but uh
14:22viewers as
14:22we are telling you uh this is uh the trai the telecom regulator's new mandate for both separate
14:29and sms only vouchers and separate vouchers from internet plans that should be made available
14:36is what the trai has said mandatory plans uh that will be made available for in our consumers also for
14:4430-day validity or less these plans will be made available on a monthly renewable option basis that
14:51will be provided to the users users can renew these plans on the same date every month and this will
14:57definitely benefit for all the customers who do not use data as well so that's something that we are
15:04hearing from the telecom regulator as well remember on every monthly basis um in fact we have we'll
15:11quickly take a view from avinash right here avinash uh a big change coming in uh you know it was
15:17only data plans that were going big as far as uh the telecom companies are concerned for airtel
15:23geo vodafone idea as well but now a mandate coming in that these companies have to mandatorly provide
15:31just sms only and voice packages also for those customers who really don't need to use data
15:40so i think it's a good move uh sakshi i think it gives a you know user flexibility to choose
15:45what
15:45exactly he wants and i think in the earlier package it was bundled into the the same package so i
15:51think
15:52somebody who wants voice but doesn't want data or somebody who wants only sms can opt for these uh
15:57you know packages i think uh at least for the next one or two quarters we like to see what
16:01is the kind
16:02of response you know from the customers because largely the demand comes from data i think data is one of
16:07the
16:07large demand uh segments for telecom users so whether you know only voice is going to be used
16:14independently is something which we'll have to wait and watch but yes it's a good move i think
16:18the invest the customers would benefit but for meaningful kind of you know revenue numbers or
16:24maybe you know kind of contributions for these companies probably one or two quarters we like to see
16:28how this product launch actually materializes into kind of revenue and business for these companies
16:34okay ashwarya is back with us ashwarya if you can hear us give us a sense of what has prompted
16:39the
16:40trai to give that mandate to the telecom companies and once these mandatory packages are rolled out what
16:47sort of a demand do you really see out there only for voice and sms packages because as india has
16:53gone
16:53on to digitalization is there enough and more demand even now only for voice and sms
16:59yes sir definitely this is a planned move because this is not the first time this has been introduced
17:06back in 2024 to there was an amendment to this telecom consumer protection regulations and now it
17:15is being made stringent for a simple reason because although we see those numbers of smartphone users in
17:22india have you ever heard that there are only there are about 20 crore users who only use feature
17:28phones they do not use data at all so that big figure is the reason why these voice and sms
17:35packs
17:35have been introduced is uh is what some of the officials have uh confirmed to us there is a reason
17:41why
17:41this move has been made and uh these voice and sms packs are not very prominent if you see on
17:48uh some of
17:48their platforms like airtel geo etc if you go these are sort of hidden uh somewhere in in the lot
17:55of
17:55data packs that are provided but this is a very crucial move for people who do not want data or
18:01do
18:01not have the availability or are operating homebound uh are operating through wi-fi so an important move
18:09to make it more uh you know economical for consumers those 20 crore consumers that's really crucial
18:15from trai side and this should be implemented by telecom operators is what they have said some of
18:21the officials have also said that if is this isn't complied to by october end uh telecom operators will
18:28also be penalized uh stringent action regulatory action will be taken if that is not complied to so
18:35that's the story behind this move as well thanks ashwarya for getting us those details and it's now time
18:41viewers to take some of your queries with our guest avanash uh we have the first query coming in for
18:46you avanash from ashish jain from jaipur who wants your expert view on the tech stocks for the long term
18:52now we have seen the it stocks really um you know underperformed for a long time now this is of
18:59course
18:59due to uh the ai led disruptions the the kind of um you know policy changes that happened in some
19:06of
19:07their biggest markets like us that led to a lot of tightening of purse strings from clients and of
19:13course changing businesses and uh you know reimagining the way businesses are shaping up in
19:19the world of ai how are you looking at the it stocks for or tech stocks for the long term
19:23even
19:23at this stage after they've fallen quite a bit no i think uh see it will consider to be a
19:29good long
19:29term kind of basket uh if the investor can wait for the next say 12 to 18 months because i
19:34think
19:35most september markets are expecting that hopefully the geopolitical situation you know comes to a
19:40kind of a proper halt then the u.s order pipeline is very large and i think companies like tcs
19:46infosys
19:47excel technologies smaller companies like copwatch could definitely be looked upon from a medium to
19:52long term kind of time frame because you know most of these companies are cash rich they are well
19:56managed they give very good dividends some of these companies are given buybacks so if the investor
20:01can want to you know wait for the next 12 to 18 months and do a small sip then i
20:05think the risk
20:05reward could be definitely be good but i think one needs to understand that uh one should not take
20:10a very short term view take a slightly medium to long term view and stay invested because eventually
20:15i think you will get a good rating here what about another query that's coming in on the tourism space
20:21this is priya from luck now she wants to know is it worth investing in tourism related stocks for the
20:26long
20:27term yeah i think uh tourism is a very sweet spot i think we've seen seeing that you know tourism
20:32is
20:33growing rapidly despite geopolitical kind of issues so i think you know companies like indian hotels
20:37typically you know even travel agent companies could be definitely be looked upon but from a slightly
20:43longer term perspective these are companies which are slightly you know insulated uh from domestic
20:48markets from geopolitical issues but yes longer term one can equivalent these stocks okay himanshu
20:54pathak from dairadun asks you uh that i'm unsure about oil related stocks should i really consider
20:59them for my portfolio for three to six months no i think clearly you know with oil boiling hot
21:05i think it's very difficult to give a call but i think you know if the investor has a slight
21:09high risk
21:09appetite then i think oil marketing companies are one which should one should look at you know once the
21:14chips are down that's the time one should accumulate omcs because crude prices are likely to come up
21:19and my sense is ioc bpcl hpcl if the investor can wait for the next say six to eight months
21:25uh once oil comes down these could definitely give a good re-rating kind of you know bouts okay
21:31uh now viewers uh questions are only so many but i have to ask you on the mid and the
21:35small caps also
21:36uh what is your fresh approach there avanaj for a lot of our viewers who have been tracking the mutual
21:42fund
21:42flows last couple of months have shown us so much more uh flows have come through as far as the
21:48mid and the
21:48small caps are concerned about two years back there was so much of you wrote about the froth in the
21:54emittance small cap space uh these spaces underperformed for a long basket but in 2026 again
22:00small and mid caps have outperformed the large caps do they still have a lot of value yeah i think
22:06sakshi you must understand in the small and the mid cap category i think you need to be very very
22:11selective now i think there's a lot of fresh paper also which has come in plus there are many existing
22:15listed companies so my suggestion to investors is that please don't buy every single small cap or
22:21mid cap stock or maybe a small cap or mid cap fund it's better to be very selective and i
22:26think always
22:27stay invested for the medium to long term i think without putting some time of let's say 12 to 15
22:32odd months the risk reward is not going to be good even at current level so i think it's like
22:37you know
22:37you need to put in some time and effort and stay invested here and be very selective that's the only
22:41mantra which i could suggest all right abhinash will thank you then now for being with us on the
22:46program and for guiding all our viewers on their questions and of course giving us an insight into
22:51the markets and helping us identify the pockets where opportunities still remain uh viewers on the
22:57last uh you know levels as far as the nifty is concerned 23 000 329 three tenths percent of a
23:03cut
23:03you've seen slight choppiness and some range pound trade throughout the course of the session
23:07but we've ended lower about 80 85 points or trade um let's talk about the nifty bank that's where
23:13about half odd percent of a decline has come in and the pockets that have contributed the most to the
23:18decline today of course it pack remains weak uh we've seen the it index down by 0.8 percent fmcg
23:25psu banks banks as a whole oil and gas these are the pockets that have dropped anywhere between 0.4
23:30percent to one percent odd only real estate sector the metals and the media pocket these are the three
23:36pockets that have managed to pull up in an otherwise very volatile weak sentiment kind of uh trade that
23:42has panned out in the second half of trading action especially on the nifty you have seen the top
23:47movers as coal india three percent higher indigo 1.8 percent up eternal you're also looking at a 1.7
23:55uptick here titan tata steel are among the other movers from the tata group today and adani enterprises
24:01has also pulled up within the top movers on the lagging front you have trend that's down 1.7
24:06percent lower nestle tata consumer products from fmcg basket and you've seen some it related stocks
24:12like infosys tcs that have also declined along with nbfc giants like bajaj twins bajaj pinserv and finance
24:18also down by over one percent each as well but let's shift focus uh to finding out what's happening
24:25in the semiconductor space uttar pradesh's semiconductor push is now moving from mous to ground execution
24:30with a 3700 crores india chip facility already under construction the project earlier known as hcl fox
24:38corn has now completed its groundbreaking move with the first products expected to roll out within one
24:44to one and a half years in fact business today television spoke with the alok kumar the principal
24:49secretary for it and electronics uttar pradesh government on the state's semiconductor plans let's
24:56listen in to what he had to say so there were just two mous which we had signed with two
25:02partners
25:03and one of them hcl fox on like that is now called india chip private limited so like there where
25:10we the
25:11facility has already like the groundbreaking has been done the facility is under construction and this is
25:17about 3700 crore rupees plant they would be manufacturing that's an osat facility and we
25:24hope that within a time frame of one to one and a half year the first the product should start
25:31rolling out
25:32from this factory all right viewers it's time to uh wrap up the business today show right
