00:00Looking at all the other well-known people who have been given this award,
00:04it's absolutely astonishing to be in that group of these well-known people
00:10over hundreds of years.
00:11It's just fantastic.
00:15Every single thing has changed in the game.
00:17I jokingly say quite often because the subject comes up,
00:20and I often say the thing that's not changed in 60 years is the goalpost.
00:24They're the same shape, same size, and same colour.
00:28So it has changed dramatically.
00:29I think probably I'm not necessarily a great fan overall of VAR that's been introduced.
00:35I think they were making as many mistakes.
00:37I like the goal-like technology because that's quick.
00:40What I don't want to see is the referee going off into the crowd to look at a video
00:45so the crowd can't celebrate, the players can't celebrate.
00:48So I think that, to me, has not been particularly good under any circumstances.
00:54And importantly, the guy who looks at a video,
00:56they're making as many mistakes as we've done in the medieval days.

01:03When we wrote the book of my writer, he nicknamed one of the chapters the medieval days.
01:08So they're the two key things.

01:38Do you think England can win the World Cup in the next 60s?
01:40Yes, I do.
01:41You've got to be positive.
01:42I do be positive to be successful as a player, as a person.
01:45So you can never say no to football, although it's been a long wait.
01:51Sir Geoff Hurst was the first player to score a World Cup final hat-trick,
01:56and Kylian Mbappé is the only other to have done so since, in 2022.

02:05The 84-year-old was recognised for his sporting achievements for England,
02:12as well as London's West Ham United,
02:16as he received the freedom of the City of London at an event which comes 60 years
02:23after England beat West Germany 4-2 at London's Wembley Stadium.
02:30Well, I would say it's down to myself.
02:32It's important, the team.
02:33I don't think, had we lost a game,
02:35my hat-trick would have been noted at all.
02:38It's about the team winning.
02:40I think the remarkable thing about it now, 60 years later,
02:43that as a nation, a huge footballing nation,
02:45we haven't won it since.
02:47So what I always continue to enjoy and to admire are people's memories of the day
02:55that you bump into, who are at the game or anywhere in the world.
