00:00We are committed to our manifesto commitment to ensure that the wages of young people are in line with those

00:08We have already reduced that gap by a third since the general election,
00:12but we have to take a step back here and see what's happening more broadly,
00:16which is nearly a million young people not in education, employment or training.
00:22And it's absolutely right that we pace the progress towards that alignment and equalisation
00:29because there is a trade-off between cost to businesses, wages and jobs,
00:34and we want to ensure that young people get into work.
