00:10The 40-year-old homeowner was doing household chores when he smelled smoke and heard neighbours shouting warnings.
00:16He was unable to save any personal documents before fleeing the engulfed wooden house.
00:21The Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station said a distress call was received at 10.32am, with fire engines arriving
00:30six minutes later.
00:32They said the house was totally engulfed when firefighters arrived, with the blaze contained by 12.09pm after efforts to
00:40prevent it from spreading to nearby homes.
00:43They said neighbours took the injured man to a local hospital before firefighters arrived.
00:48The operation ended at 12.20pm with no other casualties reported.
