00:00yeah it's amazing yeah and the whole idea is that basically kind of like most of the gardening shows
00:04are quite kind of like do this and do that and kind of you know it's great for getting advice
00:08but we're more like the kind of giggly after show party where like tell us what went wrong kind of
00:13like you know what else do you like doing in the outside yeah it's about being outside but also i
00:18think it the idea is to build a bit of community and and maybe bring some people in that are
00:24not
00:24necessarily into gardening kaylin moran a broadcaster journalist and author for the times newspaper
00:33as well as horticulturalist and garden designer adam frost recently launched their gardening podcast
00:41called outsiding filmed and recorded at moran's house in north london the show invites celebrity
00:49guests to discuss the outdoors and gardens their first guest was comedian bob mortimer but
00:56celebrities who have joined them include comedian ed byrne author and actor ruby wax and writer dawn o
01:04potter as well as pointless host alexander armstrong monday to friday i'm writing so big adhd brain on a
01:11chair words ideas so saturday and sunday just straight out here and you can just feel this
01:17just the other half of your brain you're just going to this kind of beat away flow where you're
01:21just like instead of thinking about the world and jokes and stuff you're just like i'm going
01:26to move that stone from there to there and i'm going to transplant that i'm going to divide that
01:30i'm going to prune that back and you just kind of you're in a kind of conversation with the garden
01:34i wander around going what do you want it's really i think yeah that's what i think it works yeah
01:39i come in very kind of it's obviated the need for medication for me bob was the ideal first
01:45guest because he he does love being outside i mean he loves being inside watching tv as well
01:50he's he came up with what has become our show's catchphrase which is gardening comes to us all in
01:55the end i don't want clubs anymore kind of like i'm kind of over people like kind of i just
01:59want to be
02:00in my garden and he was like he was showing adam pictures of his wisteria asking how to prune it
02:04he
02:04was showing us a picture of his first tomato he was so proud of his first tomato coming out
02:08but then the next guest we had after that was mike d from the beastie boys he asked to come
02:12on the
02:12show um and we were so surprised like why is like one of the most famous hip-hop rap artists
02:18in the
02:18world wanted to come on but he's so passionate about surfing yeah and that's what he came alive
02:22the moment he started talking about obviously moving out of new york moving to the coast
02:26people light up and i guess we're in a world where you're mainly getting your dopamine from screens and
02:31indoor things and you can see when people start talking about their childhood gardens the gardens they
02:35love now they literally light up with dopamine they're thinking about how exciting it makes them
02:39and that's and you know we're outside if you look at all the other podcasts it's people in studios
02:44talking about politics it's quite serious and suddenly you're out here in this garden just being
02:49thrilled remembering like the first apple you ate in like your auntie's orchard or kind of like the
02:53walks that you've gone on the mountains that you love yeah bulking nice memories it holds them in a really
02:58really kind of fun way
02:59you
